drax_mafra reacted to NewMaxx in Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB
I own one of the infamous "bait and switch" V300s so I have personal experience with it. The drive have varied over the years but it's definitely not a great drive regardless. Be aware that listed speeds are only "up to" for the SLC cache. Check my signature for more technical details.

Pretty much. Close enough given the SSD is several months old and half full:

V300 is famous.
They (Kingston) replace everything inside (worse memory, controller etc) and sell under the same name.
V300 is a crap. Only first, early version was fast, but who knows how long - it's Kingston after all. For me it's the worst brand if we're talking about SSD. Kingston and Goodarm.
I have V300 somewhere from some old computer and it works like yours, even after format, trim etc. It's just Kingston. The only good thing is that works at all after these years. Other Kingston products I had was not that good.

drax_mafra reacted to Imakuni in ASUS Z-170a Overclocking
High load causes voltage to droops, there's just no way around it (can't mess with physics). If you were to put a single voltage and just provide that, it would droop. So to try and compensate for that drop and achieve the actual specified manual voltage, LLC quicks in and add some extra on top of it, so that it droops from extra to actual input when load is high.
Supposedly, Auto LLC would just pick the perfect level, but that doesn't really happen in practice. And that's where the user comes in: through trial, error, and human observation, you can pick the appropriate level for your setup so that load voltage matches whatever you want.

Normal behaviour, that's how electronics work.

don't worry what task manager says, it will not be accurate. hwmonitor is more inline. there is no problem. no you are not throttling.
idle temp should be 5-8° above ambient (room temperature).

This person overclocks = 27-28 C idle little bit to high for him.
When I overclock = 63C idle 93 High load.

Yes, but you wrote this
This is why I asked for clarification... You are fine, your CPU is not throttling, task manager is usually inaccurate.

I actually didn't get my PSU at Newegg I just used it as reference for the price. Just look around and find one that rated as continuous watts NOT peak wattage then you should be good.

drax_mafra got a reaction from DuelRevolvers in Upgrade to 6 cores or stick with just 4?
Be sure Intel will respond, but it depends on the Ryzen's performance. If, and only if, the Ryzen will perform as advertised, Intel will respond with a good alternative. It will be a bit more expensive, but Intel will throw a 'new' feature that will help you with.. something.. If not, then Intel will keep going on with their line-up. Keep in mind that this is only my opinion on the Ryzen hype and Intel response topic. Have a great day!

Yeah the green labeled CX's are shit for gaming.
A good upgrade for that can be the GREY labeled CXM Corsair series, they're newer and better.
Aside for that my experience with the EVGA G2 series are great, 550w would do you just fine.

I don't have a specific one in mind, but find something that everyone's bought but i would go 600W or higher, to allow for more expansion room

Check those 4 pins on the lower right side. They might be the jumper to clean the CMOS.

drax_mafra reacted to comicsansms in Corsair CX750 Problem
Ignore any software voltage readings, they are often very off.
Buzzing noises is just coil whine, if you find it annoying, set up an RMA with Corsair, it isn't dangerous, there slightly vibrations in the PSU that is causing the noise
