  1. I suppose they’re good if you want increased performance on a budget - especially if you have large files to store. Cheap SSDs are now available but most likely without a d-ram cash. You may as well have a HDD instead of these cheap ones. Hybrids are good if you don’t have both an SSD for the OS and a separate drive for games or whatever else. From my experience, hybrid drives give that snappiness of an SSD in the OS, opening explorer for example but at larges capacities. I personally think that the target customers of these drives are probably system intergraters that produce relatively low end systems but want a price markup for the increased speed. Even decent SSDs are so much cheaper now though, hybrids didn’t really get a chance as people just want straight for the faster drive.
  2. Nope, 2x4Gb sticks. Monitor won’t benefit me because my system is used for flight sim so I get 40-55 FPS at best. I was thinking 7700K which will work with a bios flash. Don’t think it will be worth the cost as I can flip the 6600K for much.
  3. Hi all. Looking to upgrade my system but not sure what will increase my performance the most for the money. Here are my specs: i5 6600K OC @ 4.8Ghz Asus Z170-A 8GB Hyperx DDR4 OC @ 2666Mhz 120MM AIO Asus GTX 1060 6GB OC @ 1925Mhz 1TB WD Blue 2x 240GB SSD EVGA 600W Silver NZXT S340 Some Corsair fans (SP120+140) I have around $150 that I’d like to use to get some higher performance. Any recommendations?
  4. Heres a few ideas: Try a different SATA port on your MOBO Try using a different SATA cable if you have one Use a different drive, install windows, and run some tests to see if it is that drive of a problem with you MOBO If you have a different machine, even a laptop, try plugging in the bad drive and see if you have any issues on that Dosent sound like a drive fault, but more like a MOBO fault, perhaps the RAID controller? See if you have RAID configured on your MOBO, because there is a master control for RAID in BIOS which is often turned on by default to make it easier to set up in Windows. If so, try turning it of, and then your drive won't bypass the RAID controller. The RAID controller is also used for drive cache management so it could be an error with that. Give it a go, there is nothing to loose. Have a go at any of these and hope it works.
  5. This may help... If your case has a built in reset switch, check that the connections between the pins on the switch and the connections between the wire and the MOBO header are intact. It could be that this connection is shorting somewhere and causing the PC to reboot. A quick troubleshooting step would to remove the cable from the header on the MOBO. See if the problem occurs then. If you don't have a reset switch, see if the positive and negative pins on the header are not within close proximity to each other. Sometimes these pins bend out of place, particularly if the MOBO is a cheaper model. Think this may be the cause as I have experienced this problem personally, and this seemed to fix it. Hope this helps.

  7. Hi all. In into flight simulation and am currently running X-Plane 11 on my budget gaming PC. That system belongs at one of my parents houses, and so I am therefore unable to take part in simulation at my other parents house. I have a budget of £300 to £500 and I already have a decent yoke (Saitek Pro Flight Yoke), monitor and a keyboard and mouse; therefore I am looking just for a system. At this price point of course I am of course not going to be able to build a system from scratch. I have therefore looked on eBay UK for a used system which I could put a GPU in, and I have also looked at getting an old Mac Pro from 2008 for about £200, and then put a GPU in like a GTX 1050Ti, to actually run it well, instead of a Radeon GPU with 256MB of RAM. X-Plane 11's system requirements are fairly high for the recommended hardware, but I am happy to run at about 30 FPS, low to medium settings at 1080P. Please let me know what you think of what I am proposing, I want it between that price range though. I have been searching for the last few days and had no luck. Thanks, Sam.
  8. Oh, my friend has this keyboard, and absolutely loves it and has never had a problem. I myself, have brought tonnes of stuff from Corsair before and I've never had a problem with any of it. I'm sure that the G710+ is also good, but I'm a Corsair person and I've settled on getting this one. Thank you for your input though.
  9. I got a key switch tester with just about every mechanical switch on to choke a horse. I tried them all without looking, and still preferred the Cherry MX Blue, over the other 23 switches, including the Outemu Blue switch. My friend has this keyboard, which I liked very much apart from the key switches, which is why I want blue instead. It's also from Corsair and he has had it for nearly a year now, with no problems what so ever. Corsairs utility management software is one of the best for programming RGB modes as i use it for my mouse and the build quality of that board is excellent, and he is very happy with it. It' not that I insist on brand names, for example I currently have this keyboard and have for over a year, and has been fine, It's just that I want an upgrade. So I'm going to get this keyboard, as its affordable, has a red back light which is programmable, made by Corsair and is full-size. I'm sure that those keyboards that you have mentioned are also very good, but I have bought tonnes of stuff from Corsair before, and have never had a problem.
  10. Obviously, I know. I wanted peoples opinions, who have had first hand experience with the product.
  11. Hi all, I'm looking for my first mechanical keyboard, and after watching numerous videos, I have settled on the Cherry MX Blue switches. I like the loud click sound of the MX Blue switches, and I like a deep press, but not enough to get finger fatigue. I do video editing and light gaming, but I need a number pad, as my dad is a banker. Due to the vast amount of mechanical keyboards out there I'm not quite sure on what to get. I have a couple of preferences on what I would like: Cherry MX Blue switches Corsair Full size (Not 10 key-less) Under $100 Available on amazon.co.uk I've had a bit of a look, but would like your opinion if you own one already. Cheers, Sam.
