You would have to take apart your laptop entirely and see if the cable is intact.
The main risk would be ESD, so make sure to use an antistatic surface.
Might as well blow out dust while you're at it. Maybe replace thermal compound depending on how old the laptop is.

You need the correct size and shape drivers for your system to remove all the fasteners. Don't try going at them with a screwdriver from the garage that you use on your car, you'll damage the screw and make it harder to get out.
Other than that, I advise looking up a video guide on how to disassemble your specific laptop. Chances are someone haws done it before and video taped it. If the connection is still in place and the screen is damaged, you can order a replacement screen online and do that yourself too.

If your current CPU allows your games to perform at settings and performance you're comfortable with, I see no reason to upgrade. Plus, you'll have to replace the motherboard too. If your display truly is almost a decade old now, treating yourself to a new FreeSync monitor could be a real treat.

I would have to agree that this sounds like a bad psu. Not to mention the pay you have is known to be of low quality so I wouldn't be all that surprising if it is faulty. The fact that your new gpu worked for a short period of time before it stopped makes me believe it is a psu issue because if it was a mobo issue the new gpu wouldn't work for 2 hours where as the psu could definitely let the card run for a little bit before causing it to not work.

i have been at this for two days now and minutes after posting this i placed the CPU cooler on the bench and it just fell off. after two days of heating it up, twisting, soaking with alcohol and all other resorts it just fell off.

The phanteks eclipse p400 is a pretty solid atx case for a relatively cheap price but as for micro atx i wouldn't know.
