  1. Basically I have this cooler https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Thermal-Solution-Xts100H-Processor/dp/B003OSOZ42 , And I tried placing it in one of my old 775 motherboards and it fits perfectly, using a different backplate as well, now I am wondering if I'll have any problems like heat, for example the surface area which the cooler covers underneath, it being a cooler for newer generation of cpus and all.
  2. So I have an old DFI DK LANPARTY X48-T2RS motherboard, (https://www.cnet.com/products/dfi-dk-x48-t2rs-lanparty-motherboard-atx-lga775-socket-x48/) And I found this cheap CPU on e-bay, which is surprisingly good for its price, 3.16GHz, 12MB Cache (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Xeon-X5460-3-16-GHz-Quad-Core-SLANP-EU80574KJ087N-Processor-w-Grease-/222327806610?hash=item33c3c51a92:g:sqwAAOSwMmBVxZWp) And I found out that you can mod a LGA 775 mobo that will be able to accept LGA 771 CPUs. Now I did some research and because of my motherboard being so old, I couldn't find any information of this specific CPU (Xeon X5460) working on this motherboard. I'm new into this modding method and I don't know much about it, it would be nice of any of you people on this site replying back with an answer, Will it work on my motherboard or not? Thanks!
  3. Yes, I do know that you need an adapter for modding. Thanks again for the reply! I will look more into this and post an update here.
  4. It's most likely a scam, I wouldn't buy it
  5. Thank you all so much for your answers! I'm not planning on going 1080p on any game because my monitor doesn't support it, or going Ultra. High-Medium settings on a 720p res and at least 4x Anti-Alias is good for me! I forgot to ask one more question, will that CPU actually work on my mobo? I checked the compatible CPUs for my motherboard and there's one LGA 775 Xeon CPU that will work on my DFI LANPARTY DK X48 T2RS, so this means that other Xeon LGA 771 CPUs would work right? Considering it wasn't officially stated by the manufacturers that ''modding'' a LGA 775 motherboard so a LGA 771 Xeon CPU would fit in it will work 100%.
  6. So I'm planning to upgrade from my Q8200 CPU to the Intel Xeon X5460 3.16GHz on my DFI LANPARTY DK X48 T2RS mobo. Of course it won't fit because the mobo I'm using has an LGA 775 socket, but I found out that I can actually ''mod'' the socket so the X5460 (LGA 771) CPU can fit in. Now I'm also planning on getting the Gigabyte GTX 1050Ti OC 4GB WindForce GPU since it's very great for it's price. Am I doing something wrong here? Is the 1050 a good choice and a good combo with the X5460? Be sure to reply if you have some kind of advice! Thank you.
