  1. The monitor was only announced a few weeks back with a release 'in the near future'. The reason you can't find it is because no ones got it yet. source: https://www.anandtech.com/show/15112/28-inches-of-tuf-gaming-the-asus-vg289q-4k-monitor
  2. Yeah the socket is almost identical(1 pin difference) but there not compatible.
  3. Like i've been looking at this supported cpu list this whole time but never thought to share it with you. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A87TD_EVO/HelpDesk_CPU/
  4. Unfortunately the asus board does not support fx cpu's. You can use am3 cpu's on am3+ boards but it doesn't work the other way around. I don't care how old you are, you seem smart, you've been able to everything i've asked. I was an idiot at 14(can still be an idiot at times).
  5. If you know the cpu and motherboard had worked together in the past there's no point, the motherboard is faulty. But if not it may be worth buying that cheap cpu to update and test it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-CPU-Sempron-140-2-7GHz-Socket-AM2-AM3/182999371026 I didn't not believe you i just couldn't find it on the wiki. You do get some results on google but there's not much, it's probably just a really obscure business part. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Phenom_microprocessors#fn_3_back
  6. If it is a Athlon II X4 640 the gigabyte board should be able to recognise it, its supported from bios v1. I can't even find an X4 B55, I can find a X2 B55. If you update the bios it may show up properly. I just noticed on the asus website that the original motherboard needs a newer bios for the Athlon II X4 640. Because you said it was your old system i had assumed they worked together in the past. the motherboard is from 2009 the cpu is from 2011 you may just need an update.
  7. no its fine, the extra connector is for higher power cpu's. it should work fine with the one(assuming the cpu's not toast).
  8. You could also pull the battery off the gigabyte board for testing
  9. Your good, the Athlon II X4 640 is on the supported cpu list.
  10. Not much, am3+ for the most part is backwards compatible with am3. If you give me the model number i can tell you if your cpu is supported.
  11. Ok, the next logical thing to test is the cpu. Same as the ram, different cpu in the board, cpu in a different board. But understandably this is not always possible, not many people have spare cpu's/motherboards lying around. You can get a compatible sempron 140 for $4.50 on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-CPU-Sempron-140-2-7GHz-Socket-AM2-AM3/182999371026 I do have some easier things you can try first though. Disconnect everything except what is needed to boot, no hdd's no peripherals, no fans(even the cpu fan) just the motherboard, cpu, gpu and power. Try without the gpu, i know there's no integrated graphics but if could tell us something. See what the battery does.
  12. Overall its a solid build. The only thing i'd really change is the power supply, i didn't even know bitfenix made them, its not even modular. I'd go with this one from evga its a few $ cheaper and its semi modular. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DmWrxr/evga-bq-600w-80-bronze-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-110-bq-0600-k1 You also may have to update the bios on the motherboard. here's some info: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100 I'm sorry but i have to disagree, the included wraith stealth cooler is junk, it runs hot and gets loud when you push it. The upgraded cooler will be quieter and allow the cpu to boost higher. This is a myth, a internet fallacy. There are no compatibility issues using amd with intel.
  13. I'm trying to help you out here, if you tell me you have done something you haven't i'm working on faulty information.
  14. cable mod make a bracket to do just that. https://eustore.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-vertical-pci-e-bracket-hdmi-displayport-black/
  15. I too am a happy PIA user. This is a non compete clause and is quite standard in business. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-compete_clause Confidentiality agreement. also standard. Its his money he can spend it on what he wants. How are we suffering? The service is well priced and works well. Does PIA even hold customer data? i was given a auto generated username and password when i signed up. all they have is my paypal email. Its just a salty ex employee venting, trying to make something out of nothing.
