  1. Okay maybe I am late to the show here but I just saw this article on Arstechnica regarding windows 10S and had to share it here. "Windows 10 S blocks the execution of any program that wasn't downloaded from the windows store. Arbitrary downloaded apps, even with physical install media, are forbidden." For those of you like me who are security buffs this is a great thing as it positions Microsoft as a gatekeeper, and if you trust Microsoft to not allow malicious apps from getting on the store, then that's great, if you're still skeptical and don't 100% trust MSFT, then it's still not a bad thing as long as any other program you use for security is on the windows store. But this also means that programs that are mainstays of the Windows PC, like photoshop or Steam got a big fat banhammer from Microsoft. What are people's thoughts on this? Do you want it to succeed like the author of the arstechnica article wants you to? If it hasn't been brought up already, maybe whoever is on the next Wan show can weigh in.
  2. So I pretty much have all the parts set, but lets be real, needs more RGB/lighting in general. Feel free to edit my build plan though too if there might be any compatibility issues or improvements beyond just the pcpartpicker compatibility checker. Budget - Under 2k US$ with full peripherals. Dual monitor setup. Plan of this build is to run MSPaint at 32k 60fps haha but for real though actual gaming at decent settings (nothing insane) and mild streaming of things like skyrim. Im trying to keep as much of a clean crisp and elegant look as I can when not doing custom loop water cooling and a whole bunch of other custom stuff for even more $$$$$$$$$. 3. I will probably be streaming often, but I'll be streaming console games through a capture card in my pc build so having a super high quality stream isn't mandatory. Yeah I want it to look good, but I honestly don't really care about it not being absolute top notch. if the I5 wont quite be enough and the I7 7600 will, then Id rather just pick the cheaper option so I can get a better webcam.
  4. I've heard mixed remarks about how the i7 6700k 7700k, i5 6700k, and the Ryzen7 as to which is better for streaming and gaming simultaneously. Kinda just looking for clarity on the effect of core#/speed vs threads on price/performance
  5. This is my build concept for a solid gaming and streaming PC for streaming PC and Console games like Skyrim/fallout 4/ H1Z1 and VR games too. Location is US and budget is around 1600$ including peripherals, the lower cost the better obviously. Probably wont overclock but would like to have the potential for it down the line if I choose. I toyed with a more beefy build awhile ago and decided to tier things down to something much more practical. The monitor I plan to get is not found on PC part picker but is on amazon here at 199$. Will likely get 2 monitors so I can stop using my tv as a second screen and start using it as a tv but I won't be getting that right away so I'm not factoring that into the budget. The theme of this build is black and white, that's why I wanted to chose a case that is minimalistic. I do not want water cooling. What improvements can be made? 6. Thanks for all the suggestions. I've been tinkering around with it for a bit and came up with this list now, even threw in some peripherals. Let me know what you think of this. 7. So first, def using that motherboard because I love how it looks and it'll be reliable. I want a case with a side view panel to see my LED interiors, but both of you suggested 2 storage systems a small SSD and larger HDD. What is the reasoning behind having a hybrid storage system like that?
  8. Skyrim special edition w/ mods and high settings would make solid use of it, but not base. And according to the list you linked, there are some compatibility issues noted. I should also mention that I want to stay away from liquid cooling. But thanks for the suggestions.
  9. edited to include that info, but Im located in the US and I found the prices listed using pc part picker
  10. This is my current build plan for gaming, streaming, and a bit of general home use. The extents of my PC gaming will be things like CSGO and Skyrim at 1080p (maybe 4k if I got a 4k monitor down the road). I'll be using the PC to stream games on both PC from my ps4/xbox. I may dabble in VR stuff after I complete my rig with whatever peripherals that I decide on. I want an all black and white build so I can change my lighting depending on my mood (hence the name Project Moodswing). Total cost will be about 2000USD. I'm hoping to reduce this cost to about 1500USD (my max budget is ~2000USD including peripherals) and not sacrifice a lot of performance. I probably could, but I'd rather not dabble with too much overclocking. That said, I probably won't be upgrading my pc so I'm open to a high upfront cost in order to have a competent PC for a long time. What thoughts do you have about improving my build? All critiques are welcome, I don't know much about building a pc so if I missed anything let me know! I am located in the US, hence the USD, and all prices listed were found using PCPartPicker. Components: CPU: Intel core I7-7700k 4.2 ghz quad core - 329.99 USD CPU Cooler: Coolermaster hyper 212 eco 82.9 com sleeve bearing - 34.88 USD Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming 8 ATX LGA1151- 399.99 USD RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR4-2133 ram 16GB (I figured 16GB would be plenty of RAM for decently modded Skyrim/Fallout4 kinda stuff DDR4 vs DDR3) - 119.99 USD Storage: Crucial MX300 525GB 2.5" SSD (I won't have a lot of video files, just games, music, and some software) - 148.49 USD GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Founders Edition video card (I've never had a computer with a good GPU for games/video so I didn't want to sacrifice here) - 574.89 USD Case: NZXT H440 Matte Black ATX Mid Tower case - (I don't mind the big NZXT logo but I'd rather not have it. I like how simple the tower looks w/o any fancy curves) - 109.99 USD Power Supply: Corsair Gaming 600W 80+ Certified ATX - 100 USD Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5 High Density Polysynthetic Silver 3.5g (Is this enough? Too much? I literally have no idea) - 7.49 USD Additional Cooling: Corsair HD120 RGB 3pack w/controller 54.4 CFM 120mm fans - (RGB fans to match the RGB lighting strips, but can the case fit all 3 or no?) - 84.99 USD
  11. Personally after Advanced Warfare, I was ready for a new cod and didnt care about BOTG or Advanced movements since AW didnt have wallrunning. But after BO3, I'm ready for another boots on the ground game, even though I enjoy playing IW from a competitive perspective as weapon variants turn pubs from more relaxed matches into complete total chaos because someone has that gun that can switch between being an assault rifle and full auto akimbo shotguns with no more than a press of a button. (in case you dont know, Im referring to the epic Type 2 variant... I hate that version with a passion)

    New here

Hey all, so I finally got around to getting over to the forums after only finding the LMG videos about a month ago. I'm starting a new job soon and will finally be able to start saving for a solid PC that I can use for some occasional gaming (on the pc, mainly stuff like csgo and skyrim) and streaming (I'd like to use my computer to stream the games I'm playing on my PS4 or Xbox 1). Im not sure if I want to go through the hassle of building my own pc, although I do know someone experienced who could properly build it for me free of charge, and so I'm looking for reputable pc distributors that I could possibly just buy a fully made PC from for a reasonable price. Figured here would be a great spot to ask about this and get pointed in the right direction to both the correct sub-forum for these kinds of curiosities and also sites like NCIX for possibly buying a pc. Youll probably find me mostly in the video games section of the forums as I'm a huge gamer and know much more about games than I do computer hardware, though I'm trying to learn and expand on the knowledge I've gained through my degree.
  13. Yeah CoD doesn't hit nearly the numbers like csgo or dota2 because its not as big of a global game. That and there is currently a contract with MLG right now that actually restricts the streaming of the events. Full streams are only supposed to be available on the MLG website and a limited stream on Twitch, and yeah, before you say it, I agree, that was a stupid decision since twitch is the most popular streaming platform. The next cod game should be boots on the ground and not have any of the advanced movement systems like wallrunning in last years game and the current one.
  14. I mainly play CoD and just watch CSGO so for CoD I'd pick Scump and for CSGO, probably Mixwell, Rush, or Kjaerbye
