  1. He didn't give a budget, just wanted it at low cost, shopping in the US(although for my personal rig, I ordered the AIO from Germany). I don't think he really cares too much about the case so long as it looks decent, won't fall apart on him, and probably not real "gamer"y. My thoughts keep going towards Fractal when I try to picture something.
  2. Oh, they also didn't care about extra flashy stuff.
  3. Sorry, forgot to quote you. They really didn't give me much to go off of other then they wanted to keep the cost down low, and they wanted to stream Overwatch at 1080
  4. That's something that I can't seem to get a fix for. It's more or less a theoretical build and it would be for someone else.
  5. It's more if the H7 doesn't fit
  6. It also depends on the case. Certain cases would not allow for a taller cooler
  7. Not to mention about $10 less
  8. So it ends up boiling down to: higher overclock vs quieter system in this comparison
  9. So, the thought process is this: guy wants to stream Overwatch, but wants to keep costs a little lower. So, the thought is: use a R5 1600, and overclock on a B350 motherboard with a aircooler(not mine, or I'd aio the bitch). Kinda come at a faceoff between the Noctua NH-L9x65 and the Cryorig H7. I've read good things about both, and about both companies. Id love some feedback about people's thoughts on the two.
  10. Thanks. It's something I wasn't sure about. In my personal rig, I'll be using a couple HDDs, and a SSD. The only reason I'd think about throw in a NVMe at it (like a 960 Evo) is more or less: braging rites, badassery, and the sheer overkill. Besides, just because I can be patient, doesn't mean I like to be.
  11. Ok, I know this would technically fall under a different category, but when it comes to storage for streaming, how much can it make a difference at 1080? Would a nvme m.2 be the best way to go, or should a SATA ssd/hdd be just fine?
  12. Would you suggest having a second boot drive for Linux?
  13. I'm trying to tweek a build for a guy I know who wants to be able to stream Overwatch at 1080p. He isn't wanting anything fancy, and he wants to keep the cost down low. I've tried looking, and I can't seem to figure out..... Do you need a 16GB kit of RAM, or should 8GB due the job just fine? Plan includes a R5 1600 with aftermarket air cooler, and either a 1060 6GB, RX 480 8GB,or RX 470 8GB (or a 500 series, depending on how they come out).
  14. I keep finding myself considering using Linux as the OS of the PC I'm building. I am planning on trying to do some content creation, like video editing, streaming, animation, audio recording, gaming, and streaming. I'd love to get some sugestions on which distro to use, or if I'm better off sticking to Windows(NO I will NOT use crApple's OSx). A couple that have caught my eye are Sparky Linux GameOver Edition, and Unbuntu GamePack.
  15. From what I've seen, the barracuda pros are actually less then the ironwolf pros. To me, for whatever reason, it just makes sense to have a longer warranty.
  16. That brings up the IronWolf. How about the Pro version? Or should the same story hold true?
  17. mass storage for when video editing, animation, ect. Quite frankly, I still don't believe TweekTown is a viable source. I do feel if Linus is willing to put the dam things in his server, they should be reliable enough to have some faith
  18. I've been thinking about using one or two Seagate drives in my rig...... Keep thinking about either a BarraCuda Pro or IronWolf Pro. How much of a difference is there, and which would be more worth my money? Or are they both more wasteful then anything else?
  19. HDDs have moving parts that will wear out. SSDs have cells that can only be written to so many times. Samsung is a great way to go with great performance. The HyperX Savage from Kingston is another good one.
  20. https://videocardz.com/67814/powercolor-teases-new-red-devil-is-this-radeon-rx-580 So, PowerColor is teasing a new graphics card. There is no confirmation as to which one it'll be, due to PowerColor refusing to comment, so as of right now it's just speculation.
  21. I don't know where SeaSonic came from, but that's not a bad PSU. JohnnyGuru (VERY reputable PSU reviewer, it's the first place I look whenever I'm looking for PSU reviews) reviewed the 750W version and gave it an 8.6/10. Again, not bad, but not the absolute best(though that tends to be a matter of opinion.)
  22. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/JMPfrH/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7ke256bw 850Pro for the same size is much less expensive As far as PSU, you should be fine with 450-500W. while, yes, your cpu won't overclock, your video card will(though it may not overclock by much.
  23. Yes, there are problems with it, no doubt(like the lack of any difference in performance in things like gaming). HOWEVER it has been proven time and time and time and again that Ryzen preforms better with faster ram speeds. The limits people are able to reach has increased in the months that it has been out. To me, spending a little more on faster RAM would be worth it if it makes my processor perform better.
