  1. I am fully aware they are not compatible, Im just intrested in if my suspicion is correct, and if so what the reason is that it burns. I.e pin layout? I've also asked him for a picture of the mobo pins. So ill follow up.
  2. So, I was looking on the dutch version of Ebay for some nice processors. And I stumbled upon this one seller with a 6700k for sale. I noticed a weird discoloration on the back of the cpu. It kindoff looks like burnmarks on the back of the cpu. Ill include a picture. Upon further investigation i noticed that he was also selling a z390 motherboard. After asking him it turns out he tried them both together. Now I was wondering. What consequences should that have for the cpu and motherboard. Could it end in burnmarks? ps. dont worry, im not buying it, im just intrested in how F'ed he is.
  3. Not necessarily, but if something was to fix it. It would be a bios update. As for it being scary. Just dont think about it too much. Make sure you go to the manufacturers website and follow simple steps. Some mobo's also have a built in system in the bios. And if you want to be 1000% safe. Dont touch pc and don't switch on any large power electronics in your house. Like blenders and such.
  4. Also, you said a bigger power supply might increase the power your cpu can use. Thats not how it works. Power supplies don't force power into components. The component just demands power, if the power supply can handle it everything is fine, if not you will crash. There is no way it is using lets say 50 watts now and 80 watts with a better power supply. Since overloading power supply's is a bad thing tho, id deffo recommend either buying the 1660 with a power supply straight away. Or buy the power supply within a few months. You DO NOT want an old 300w HP power supply ruining your stuff.
  5. Make sure your motherboard has either a 4 or 8 pin for the cpu. And a 24pin on the side. If it does, any power supply will work. 300w is deffo not enough for a 1660super. Tho you can try it. I still wouldnt recommend it. If you want to buy a 1660 now and a power supply later thats possible. Just put your power max in MSI afterburner to 80% for the duration of the 300w power supply.
  6. Thats what I was thinking. Seems like its boosting or overclocking. Maybe try a bios update?
  7. Thanks all for the good reply's, If you got any other tips on how i could get more performance please let me know. I now know that there is nothing wrong with the CPU at least.
  8. just seems weird there is nothing that can even comes above 60W. And ive tried a lot of programs.
  9. I am doing p95 small fft now. Thats giving me a more realistic Wattage, 57 package. 1.195v. Seems like this is truly all the performance i will get :C.
  10. but even p95 wont push it over 40, eventho tdp is 91w
  11. Ah oke, that sounds logical. Would you have any idea why it's only using 40 watts tho under 100% load?
  12. So, I have recently made and upgrade from a 1060 to a 2070 super. This was because I dont have enough money for a 3080 or 3070 but managed to get a really good deal on a 2070 super second hand. The issue is that I have an i5 7600k. Paired with a H170 chipset. Again, got a decent second hand deal. Been running an i5-6500 for years but cost me 30€ to upgrade to a 7600k. The 7600k to no suprise is a massive bottleneck in most games. Eventho it's single core rating is quite good. So im really looking to boost it's performance. The issue I have found is the following. The processor: i5 7600k 3.8 base 4.2 boost, is constantly running at 3997mHz or something around there. In that state it reports 40 watts of power usage. And since it's water cooled only stays on about 50C. I was wondering why it doesn't go any higher. Since I assume there is more performance to be had. More info: Motherboard Asrock H170 Pro4 hyper. Temps usage and clocks measured with HWmonitor. Stress tested with: Aida 64, p95, Rainbow 6 siege, Counter strike.
  13. Why are 120mm water coolers not worth it?
  14. Have you read the entire story, it states which brand i want.
  15. So I have an issue, I have a i5 6500 and im tired of looking at the stock intel cooler, I was considering buying the Cryorig H7 or C7. When i have the new cooler I want to boost clock my cpu. Now i found this AIO that looks very nice, and is very cheap. Link to cooler: https://www.amazon.co.uk/DEEPCOOL-Maelstrom-Liquid-Cooler-Cooling/dp/B01FVSFO1A/ref=s9_simh_gw_g147_i1_r?_encoding=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=JGZSJXHPCR19KMCZK29H&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=16f14aeb-bd11-4e9e-8c26-9ca0139074ee&pf_rd_i=desktop I am worried about leaks tho and if it's worth it since I only have an i5 6500. Aesthetics are important to me but not the most so much that I would make a bad purchase. The other reason why i would take this route is because of the following, I only have 1 intake fan right now and 1 exhaust fan + power supply exhaust. This is negative pressure, i want possitive pressure. So if i went the route of the C7 or H7 i would need an extra fan as well. But if i would take the route of the AIO i would use this as an exhaust + the power supply and move the current exhaust fan to be an intake fan. Which would make the total basicly the same: C7 or H7 + rgb fan VS AIO cooler. All help is welcome. Thanks for reading.
