Lower = better. Because that would leave you with more room for the GPU and CPU to spike. According to Toms Hardware: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 & 1050 Ti Power Consumption Results (tomshardware.com). This shouldn't really pose a problem when going for the 1050. You do have to keep in mind that the 65watt tpd for the i-10500 is an indication under load. However when boosting that CPU can use up to 135 watt. At that point it's likely your pc will just stop functioning because 135 + 75 + 25 minimum for the MOBO is going to draw to much power. This won't happen all the time offcourse. Only when doing something that demands the entire system to work out. But it can happen from time to time when playing games.

Honestly. Now that I took my time researching a bit more. I think you might get yourself more trouble then it's worth. Try getting a 350 watt powersupply if you want the 1050 in.

It would be interesting to see what the PL1/PL2 values are actually set at in that system. Various tools like hwinfo64 can report them. PL2 is the short term boost power limit and would be the one of most interest. The Intel suggested value for 10500 PL2 is 134W but system builders are allowed to vary that up or down.

In case the PSU can't be replaced with a higher power one, and the CPU PL2 is high enough to be of concern, I see two potential options. One is to somehow lower the CPU PL2. If the bios doesn't allow it, it might take software tools like XTU possibly. Otherwise, lower power GPU. 1030 is 30W and performs similarly to an AMD DDR4 era APU.

When I was testing rehoming an 11700k into a smaller case recently, with limited cooling potential. I did observe its power usage during gaming and it was typically <100W in everything I threw at it. Reaching 134W ball park probably requires running Prime95 or equivalent software.

Since your CPU has a TDP of 65 watt, it's going to be a bit anemic. I would advise you check the Motherboard TDP as well and decide if it's going to be to close for comfort.

Regular MoBo should be between 25 to 40 watt. So you'd still be under 210 watt. But there is not much wiggleroom for peaks in powerusage. It doesn't seem impossible.

So, it's possible. With a decent cable. But getting good and reliable hardware is not going to be cheap.

It happens to a lot of keyboards from time to time the quick fix is to adjust the keyboards 'debounce' time.  I had a quick skim over the net to see if you can adjust yours but couldn't find anything.  That's what you're looking for though a way to adjust your debounce.

    Edit:
Debounce is a system that will 'shut off' the switch from activating for a period of time once the switch is activated.  My old Ducky One2 mini i used to have to increase this from 10ms up to 15ms to stop the 'T' key from chattering

Like it says. It's also dependend on your system. That is why, in the first post, I also talked about the TDP of your CPU. Some CPU's use a lot of as well and in that case, getting a bigger one might be required. You could always exchange the PSU if you want to be certain. Having more power isn't going to hurt. It's just a bit of a waste for the short term.

Long term you might need the extra power if you want to upgrade, so getting a 850 isn't bad. I just don't think it's necesary.

Hmm, as far as I saw it had at TDP of 265 Watt. But even with the figures you mention it isn't a problem. The 375 should be the peak performance. Basically you need a bit of headroom for when things get a bit above TDP. That's why AMD recommends a 600Watt PSU for that GPU (the reference board). So you going for 750 is the safe bet and should mean you never run into any issues.

That GPU has a TDP of 265 watt. The CPU has a TDP of 95 watt.  A 750 Watt PSU should be able to handle these specifications perfectly fine.

If you cannot figure it out on your own, it might be worth posting some pictures of the insides of the laptop. That way people can look along and help see if there is any visual damage or hard-to-miss connections that are loose.

FrowningHippo got a reaction from EimaJ_ in Steam downloads causing my computer to act strangely
This seems like normal behavior from steam to me. The Skyrim files you are downloading are compressed. The decompression takes time and writespeed from the HDD. If your writespeed is maxed out and needs to decompress files. Steam will stop downloading, because there is no room to write the new data. The disk is fully utilized for unpacking after all.

This mostly happens if you're downloadspeed is decent/good.

Windows should become laggy as well at this point. Even when it's installed on another drive. This is because the Windows filesystem still uses the HDD even if you're not using anything actively. And as such, Windows chugs to a stuttery mess.

You can fix this issue by getting a faster drive. Or limiting downloadspeeds in Steam.
