  1. And that should drive 144hz with DP no problem?
  2. Hi, I have a buddy looking for a 144hz panel to go along with his notebook, which he will be upgrading soon, but at the time he has an Asus notebook with a 765m in it. He wants to get something like this https://www.amazon.com/Acer-GN246HL-Bbid-24-Inch-Display/dp/B00KO4518I/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1511389397&sr=1-1&keywords=144hz&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_two_browse-bin%3A6570747011%2Cp_n_size_browse-bin%3A3547806011 but I've noticed that every one of these monitors needs a dual link DVI cable to run at a full 144hz. What would you do in this situation? I believe his notebook has a mini displayport, would he be able to run mini-dp to dvi and get 144hz?
  3. I'll probably just use some 250gb HDD I have laying around
  4. With an 860, I'm not expecting anything to be new. I have 8 GB of generic DDR3 just sitting around, so an 860 and 8GB of RAM should do the trick. If I try to do my hackintosh project with this, the chipset might end up being the problem. According to Lenovo's website, these boards have a Q57 chipset, and I'll have to look into the capability of that.
  5. I think I'll buy it, and I'll post about if it works or not.
  6. Yeah, TheGleaner noticed it on picture too as well.
  7. I didn't even see the little diagram there, that does look like just regular motherboard power/reset headers.
  8. so would it be labled on the board, like any other custom system? The only OEM PC's I work with are old HP Core 2 Duo Systems, and they have proprietary power connectors, so I was just assuming that other OEM's did that.
  9. I meant like starting it up, I know how to power the board, just not how to turn it on.
  10. Yeah, the reason he has the cpu, is because he threw away that PC and kept the CPU just because he wanted to. He also has the Radeon HD 5770 that was in it, but no one really wants it. The computer was some old Dell desktop.
  11. It was in an old family PC that he inherited, and he got a notebook for christmas with an i7 4700hq and a gtx 765m, so he just uses that for gaming now.
  12. So I got a Core i7 860 for free from a friend, and I want to build a Hackintosh with it. I found this on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Thinkcentre-M90P-LGA-1156-DDR3-SDRAM-Desktop-Motherboard-71Y5975-IQ57N/122809220970?hash=item1c97ffff6a:g:ZbgAAOSwEZdaCz1c , and I was wondering if I got this to test the CPU, how would I turn it on? I couldn't find a motherboard diagram, and I assume that with it being a Lenovo board, it doesn't have a normal power header like a board for building a custom rig. I really just want to know if the CPU works, then I'll go and get a nice motherboard for it. No local computer shops will test it either Thanks for any help!
  13. My shower drain is covered, nothing as big as an earbud could get through the little holes.
  14. Original post was edited to make it easier for people who don't want to read the whole post
  15. I live in a house with other people, don't want to bother them.
  16. So after doing some research apparently the Apple Airpods aren't water proof or even resistant. My favorite earbuds I own are my Earpods (I own 3 pairs, just in case I lose some) I want to get a pair of wireless earbuds that are waterproof/resistant, mostly to listen to in the shower, but have no idea where to start. I'd like a pair that fits in similarly, because I really can't wear the other style of in ear headphones for long (I included a picture of what I mean, because it's hard to describe them). My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S8, if it helps with compatibility. For those who don't want to read the post I prefer over when you suggest things...
  17. I think people expect a deal from a cpu/mobo combo usually though, he might want to discount it a bit, or just part it out.
  18. I'll probably try that, maybe I'll get a thick carpet, I never thought of that. Thanks!
  19. I literally need it to go like 1-2 inches higher (2.5-5 CM, I noticed you were using co.uk) just so my arms can be at a comfortable angle, my legs will still touch the ground, but typically I have them on a foot rest anyway.
  20. https://www.amazon.com/Staples-Torrent-Bonded-Leather-Managers/dp/B00JZ51O8S/ref=sr_1_5?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1507257154&sr=1-5&keywords=manager+chair&refinements=p_36%3A20000-40000 I own one of these, but my issue with it is that it doesn't go high enough, it's really comfy.
  21. Ikea's chairs look incredibly uncomfortable.
  22. Where should I go to look for one? just like amazon, or are there any specialized retailers online I can look at?
  23. So I need a new chair for my desk, and I need the chair to be in the 200-400$ price range, and be comfortable. My biggest need is for the chair to go high up. Apparently I am not like others in that I like to have my arms at right angles and not have to reach high and angle my wrists against the desk's edge. No desk chairs I look at anywhere ever go high enough for me to be at this angle, and the chair I'm using now can go extremely high, but it's incredibly uncomfortable. My back hurts after only 2 hours of sitting, and it's incredibly frustrating. Any help is much appreciated! Also, sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum, general seemed like the most fitting choice.
