  1. Another thing. Any idea if I have to get them same card, or do you think I could find the same chips on a lower end card, for cheap?
  2. I have little to no soldering experience. Where would you suggest buying a kit? I'd like to get into it some time, and I was thinking this would be a good project to start with.
  3. It would still be nice to have another 970 around, I have friends over for LAN's and such. No need to just give up so easily. This is straight from NVIDIA's website, by the way. And This.
  4. So I got this card already not working from a friend, and I'm wondering if there's anything I can try to do to repair it. The owner described the card as working fine, but one day when he turned his PC on the card sparked and stopped working. I want to use this as a learning experience to try to fix the card. I currently run a Strix 970 in my main PC, so maybe I could run it along with this card for a nice SLI setup. Here are some picture of the card. This is the back while built Here is the front when taken apart And here are, I assume, the culprits. I think these are VRM's, but I have very limited knowledge on pcb's. You all would know better than me. Is there any way that I could do anything to fix this, or am I basically screwed? Thanks for any feedback!
  5. I've been looking into lowering my desk too. I have a nice chair, but can't sit at my desk without my wrists horribly angled against the edges.
  6. I use an Ikea tabletop with Adils legs, works fine, but at the angle I like to have my arms at with my peripherals, it's hard to find a chair that fits with it. It should only run you 60$ or so.
  7. Download GPU-Z and open it. Compare what it says to what NVidia says about that card on their site.
  8. I highly doubt an i5 6500 is going to "bottleneck" a 1070 ti that badly. If it does it won't be that bad. If it does become that bad, then you should upgrade your cpu later on.
  9. What is your sixth gen cpu not doing that you think a 7th gen one will?
  10. I rarely use my PS4, but I turned it on last night, and grabbed my controller, and the controller's light won't turn on. Even if I plug it into the PS4 or a wall USB power connector. I cannot get it to do anything. I held the reset button various amounts of times, and still the controller does nothing. Does anyone have any idea why this is?
  11. The more I keep trying to write a reply to this post the more I believe you're right. The only use I see for PCI now is sound cards.
  12. I ended up buying an Acer KG271 Cbmidpx https://www.amazon.com/Acer-KG271-Cbmidpx-FREESYNC-Technology/dp/B07598SX6S/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1515778307&sr=1-3&keywords=144hz&refinements=p_89%3AAcer%2Cp_n_size_browse-bin%3A3547807011
  13. Don't have the hard drive space on that rig, it's used almost exclusively for gaming.
  14. No the PC is going to be used completely for recording, and the occasional stream. So 4690k it is.
  15. So I want to get into speedrunning a console game. I have all the equipment, I've been getting it over the past 2 years, and I know how to set it all up, but I have two choices right now to base my actualy PC System on. I own an FX-8350, and an i5-4690k. Which of these would be the best choice for streaming. I'm sure either would record the gameplay just fine, but I assume streaming is going to be a bit more stressfull. I really appreciate any help anyone can give me. I assume it would be the 8350 for it's hyperthreading, but I just want some outside opinions.
  16. Alright, I'll consider that one too. Thanks
  17. Everywhere I see them is out of stock, and 400$
  18. I generally try to avoid MSI products, as I've had a terrible time with their customer support, it does look really good at a low price, though, I am considering it.
  19. I forgot to include that I currently have a 50$ amazon gift card, so amazon things would be preferred.
  20. I'm looking for a nice 144Hz Display that is at least 24" and has decent image quality. My roomate recently got an AOC G2460PF and it's amazing to see 144Hz for the first time, but the color is absolutely atrocious. Does anyone know of a monitor in this price point with at least decent color. I'm not looking for IPS quality or anything, I know I won't get that, but something a little better would be great.
  21. I've never seen those, I might give these a shot.
  22. I'm looking for a pair of headphones to replace my AKG K182's. I've had them repaired once already and really don't want to wait another month for a new pair of headphones. I have a friend who is also on his second pair of these headphones, and the constant breaking of them is very unfortunate, because they are very nice headphones. I Currently am running Sennheiser HD 518's that I used to use all the time, but I'd like a nice closed back pair of headphones for 100-130$ as the title says. I just want suggestions for different pairs. I really prefer the shape of Sennheiser's earcups, but I don't mind circular ones, like the K182's. Thanks for any suggestions!
  23. I got the board, and didn't realize that it's a non-standard board. So it won't fit in a standard ATX case. but my i7 Does work, and so does the board, of course. I think I'll make my own custom case for it.
