  1. Just came across an old system with an i7 870 in it for free, just needs an SSD and an upgrade from 4gb of ram. Curious as to how it might perform in Win10 for general web browsing, and how it would perform running Roblox with something like a 750ti in it.
  2. Hey, ive had my 1070 for several years now, and other than the usual dusting ive never done anything to it, and its held up fantastically. Ive recently upgraded to a Ryzen 5 3600x and im trying to get every last bit of performance out of it before upgrading (to probably a 6700 xt once used prices get a bit better.) I reinstalled Battlefront 2 and have been playing for a couple hours when I noticed my GPU temp at 80-82C, I understand that 85C is the limit, but I've never had this gpu get above 78C before. Should I change the thermal paste? As far as I can tell its the stock thermal paste or at least 3-4 years old. Ive got some corsair TM30 if it makes a difference lol
  3. For about 3-4 years now ive been rocking an evga gtx 1070, 16 gb ram, and a Xeon E3-1240 V3, which is a 4770 with no iGPU. I recently bought a used Ryzen 5 3600x for about 100usd, as well as a motherboard and 16 GB of 3200 mhz to match my 16 gb ddr3. All in all ive spent about 200 dollars. Im gaining lots of new gen capabilities, but until I upgrade my GPU, my gaming performance will only increase ~10% from what i've seen online. Should I have upgraded GPU first and squeezed more life out of the old chip? Or maybe waited to upgrade both together? Either way im happy to finally be ryzen, ever since then 1000 series launch ive wanted to upgrade.
  4. Its not, because is Battlefield V DX12 both cpu and gpu are maxed at 100%, and with benchmarks my gpu never dips below 85 percent when not in dx11
  5. My RX580 constantly jumps around for usage, no matter the game. It only happens in DX11. When i play DX12 its fine, and when i benchmark OpenGL its fine. I dont have afterburner installed, or any other software other than Wattman. I have tried using performance power settings. I completely reinstalled windows and with it DX11 and it still happens.
  6. Yah, if you were just doing gaming, especially esports gaming, i would just go i5. But even if the amount of streaming you do is minimal, you will notice a difference with the i7. The extra 100 is a great value, and lots of future proof value as well.

  8. if its in the actual headphone itself and not any feedback, you probably have a lose/broken part. See if you have a warranty, or get a new headset. Or, you could open it up with PROPER tools and see if you can fix it, just depends on your exact circumstances
  9. A GTX 1060 or RX480 pairs very well with the R5 1600. The 1050 will do, but expect some bottlenecking in more GPU bound games
  10. yah, get a cheaper case, instead of a 970 get a 6 gb 1060, or an 8 gb 480/580, and then get a minimum 600 watt psu
  11. I would personally set the top and front 4 to pull air into the case, and the back fan as a push.
  12. Are you thermal throttling at all? You could have accidentally unseated or unplugged your CPU cooler. Also are you sure the fans are running correctly?
  13. Okay, if you don't need mass storage, and want an SSD on the cheap, used isn't a terrible option. Just verify that it isn't too old, and that it was manufactured by a reputable brand, and you should be good to go.
  14. Also, what is your budget?
