Yeah, basically. It was also way easier to interact with LMG staff which was nice.

As a non-vessel, but early-ish Floatplane subscriber. (the website itself didn't exist yet)

It's main advantage would be early access, which does exist. Unfortunately for you CES is just a really bad time to be subbed as events like it get pretty much simultaneous release's. There also used to be a secret sub-forum which the videos got posted too, and honestly I found it more enjoyable to read discussions/comment compared to Floatplane directly. Little disappointed it seems to have been nuked since the migration.
You do get the occasional exclusive video, but honestly that's pretty much it IMO. There is still the ability for better quality video + downloads. I guess.

IMO - the only reason I'm still subbed at this point is because it is so cheap I just don't care, however once LMG bump up the sub cost I will probably bail.

Honestly as a Floatplane sub it has always felt almost neglected from the LTT side of things. Like when retailers send out vouchers to known customers, but not the high-spenders because they know they will spend the money anyway.
For example videos will randomly turn up quite late, or incredibly early. The the video could have horrible audio or get taken down after 30 minutes because sensitive info was left in then the video will turn up 10 hours later. Or YT will receive a different video because Floatplane complained about something.
To put it a little more succinctly. At times LTT Floatplane has felt somewhat like Beta or QC for LTT (To be clear I mean LTT, not Floatplane itself) or an afterthought during streams. When I feel like it really shouldn't be like that considering we are paying directly. I understand Floatplane is in Beta (ish), but I didn't realise LTT was.

EDIT: The only reason I saw this post was because I came to the forum out of habit looking to see if there are any new LTT videos(floatplane sub-forum). Went to Floatplane.com only to find I had been logged out automatically for the 1000th time

    Update:
Visa has apologized for the incident and found it related to a hardware failure (they was probably using Shintel CPUs ayyy)
Services should begin to return to normal during the next few hours.

    OP
    S: BBC
VISA & Mastercard, you know, that massive tech company that runs almost every debit card on the planet? Yeah that one, are currently facing a technical nightmare as their primary Payment Network has crashed leaving all customers in the EU, UK and Ireland unable to pay anything, move funds or in some cases, withdraw funds.
My bank sent out this tweet a few minutes ago.

This is fairly shitty for everyone because you can't pay any kind of bills, utilities, etc.
VISA issued this statement on Twitter
According to the Bank of England, the 95% of the UK uses a VISA debit card and it's our last week until holidays, a fairly huge problem.

I do quite like the idea of having a broad skill set, I have always enjoyed doing bits of everything. I've got to be honest though, I'm really hoping to leapfrog the bullshit of 1st line/ 'trenches' but I guess I need to just accept that fact:( This is helpful information which I will look into though, thanks!

I have looked in the past and the only options I have ever found have been full time education, which isn't an option for me. Or online courses which I'm looking at now.

I had forgot about CompTIA, I will check that out tomorrow. It may be my best option.

FlightRisk reacted to AshleyAshes in Corridor Calls Out LTT on RED Video
I think we can easily determine why LTT really bought the Red camera and all the hardware that goes into it.

...Because they wanted to and they could afford it.

It's like any PC gamer who jumps every year from the 6700k to the 7700k and so on.  Because they wanted 'the best' and they could afford it.  Because they love tinkering with the top-top end so they wanted the absolute newest shinies.

I mean geez, LTT is talking about HDR content coming eventually.  Does anyone here think that HDR will help LTT gain more views or reach a broader audience?  God no.  ...It's because some people at LTT think that figuring out and working on an HDR workflow will be 'Totally awesome' and they can afford to do it. And if they have fun undertaking that kind of technical challenge for self-satisfaction fine.

This was my main problem with the video. it entirely missed my guess of the reason for LMG's purchase of the devices. and what I am sure if the reason they produced the 'RED camera rant' is "we thought this would be fun and entertaining to our viewers". even if the reason was for views and dat ad-sense money, WHO THE FUCK CARES!? LMG is a business which seems to genuinely care about it's employees and to a certain extent, it's viewers. They still have an audience which cares for the content whether or not others do.

Other things I can agree with the video for, like buying the first party accessories when they can buy third party. Although some could argue that maybe LMG wanted that robust reliability which was mentioned about the cable and didn't want to risk third party not having the same level of care and detail as promised in the RED accessories.

Maybe this was just me but this video was the most entertaining and engaging LMG video in a long time. I couldn't help but watch and think how well it was filmed and edited, it just seemed like a great deal of effort was put into producing it (relative to the usual amount of work LMG put into it). I may have missed some features as it is rather late where I am and am very tired.

Incase you did not know when it comes to selecting a Motherboard on PCpartpicker you can narrow down the searches quite a lot. Check the below link out if the above Motherboard doesn't meet your requirements. There is about 25 Motherboards (maximum) to look at in price order so it should make your selection much much easier. The main holdout on requested features I could see from quickly looking at the cheapest Motherboards there was a dual BIOS/recovery feature.

FlightRisk reacted to Energycore in I'll bet you can't get a worse Cinebench score than me
If we're gonna jump on the bad cinebench score wagon, someone should try hitting their CPU's thermal throttling point (like for instance, leave the cooler over the CPU without pressure, you can then control the temp by pressing down on the cooler so it has good contact).

Then your CPU could hit speeds as low as 100MHz as it desperately tries to stop you from torturing it. Warning: Probably shouldn't do it with your daily driver CPU
