  1. The Problem with that is that the onboard GPU does not have a display port. Since I have isolated it, if I'm not wrong, down to a Display Port Issue, I don't think I'd get much value out of testing with the onboard GPU. My mother has a GPU in her PC, but I don't know if that one has DP, I'll check tomorrow though, since right now I can't "dismantle" that pc
  2. I hope this is the right place to as for help, so I'm gonna try and describe my problem as good as I possibly can: But first of, my specs: I have a (delidded + liquid metal) i7 7700k, a ROG Strix 1060 6GB and 32 Gigabytes of Corsair Dominator Platinums (4x8gb) Memory. The Monitor I use is an MSI MAG271CQR that I bought for Christmas, so some 3-4 months ago, and it's connected via Display-Port to one of the Ports on my 1060, with some random LG Ultra-wide (LG UM69G or sth) connected to the GPU via HDMI. Now as far as my Problems go, I first noticed it on the MSI Montior that when I turned it back on (I just transported all my stuff to my parents home since my university home is not as "safe" in terms of COVID-19), and there were some white "spots" like dead pixels. Those quickly disappered though, after the Computer got out of all the "ASUS Motherboard, Overclocked by xy" if you know what I mean. Basically, all Pixels seemed to return to normal once the PC had actually booted into the OS. So I thought it was odd, but didn't think more of it. When using my PC a little more however, I noticed what seemed to be horizontal streaks across my monitor. They only appeared for a few seconds, and then disappeared again, but they are obviously distracting. Add to that, that sometimes it seems like my desktop is being duplicated on the monitor, just down to the left and less opaque. (I'm sorry if that does not make too much sense, I'll try to explain better if need be). Now what I was trying to figure out is, whether this is a problem with the Monitor or if my GPU is slowly dying. To Troubleshoot, I have first reseated the GPU, and blown out any dust that might have gotten in the PCI-E Slot. Then I unplugged the LG Monitor, and ran just the MSI one, the Problem persisted. I changed the DP-Port, to figure out if just one Port of my GPU was possibly busted, but the Problem was still there. Then I ran the MSI Monitor through the HDMI-Cable, and the problem disappeared. I have also run the LG-Monitor through the Displayport-Cable, on both Ports of my GPU, and the Problem is either not obvious, or didn't happen. I assume the problem to either originate from the Monitor, or the GPU, since it's a graphical Problem. But I am not sure, how to narrow it down further. Either it's the monitor, and the problem could be with the 144 Hz refresh-rate, somehow, or the single DP-Port on the Monitor is broken. Or it's the GPU, which for some reason has a problem with Pushing a 144 Hz refresh rate, but I can't test that, since my other monitor only does 75 Hz at most. Now me personally, I'd have assumed it to be a problem with the GPU, since when driving home, I had nowhere to put my GPU so it was "stuck" inside the case and I had worried, it could've bend the PCI-E slot or some other weirdness had happened while driving. Meanwhile the Monitor was safely stored in Styrofoam inside of it's original packaging, exactly how I had bought it from a German retailer, so at first it didn't even occur to me, that my Monitor could be busted... I really hope, any of you fabulous People can help me. Thanks, Paul
  3. As it turns out, @Strike105X was right on the money. It was the wrong BIOS that has been selected. I still don't know why a Gaming Card was set to Compute Mode, but now it seems to all work the way it was intented.
  4. Its a Sapphire Pulse so it doesn't have that switch as far as I am aware Edit: Since the card is not at my home I had no chance to check this myself but he found a switch. It was on the side not on top. My/Our mistake. It was in "Compute Mode" so now we're checking if and what that has changed.
  5. I know. But if I pay for a specific Performance I expect to get that performance. And it doesn't quite change the fact that the Frequency is almost 20% lower than it should be
  6. So bit of a Backstory first: My best friend has been gaming on a I3 2120 with a GTX 750ti for quite a while now, because he simply didn't have any money to upgrade. So on Blackfriday I decided to help him out, he saved some 600€ and I tried to give him the best PC I could for the money given. Long story short we settled on a Build featuring a Ryzen 5 2600 and a RX580, for combined around 350€. Now, exactly a month later, the PC in itself runs fine plays any game he wants at whatever Graphical Preset 1080p. But yesterday he poked around a bit and decided to check his GPU with GPU-Z and ran the Superposition Benchmark. What he noticed we're mainly 3 things His Base Clock was at 1120 mHz His Pixel Fillrate at 35.8 GPixel/s His Texture Fillrate was 161.3 GTexel/s All in all this doesn't really look like what a RX 580 should have but more like a RX480. But as far as I can tell neither the Pixel Fillrate nor the Texture Fillrate fit in anywhere. If it is any help this is his GPU-Z Result Am I right in assuming that whatever he got is not a 580? And should I send it back or is there not much difference anyway? Thanks and Merry Christmas Paul
  7. Corsair, RM550x but it seems I have been able to fix it thanks to the discord. I mean the PSU Fan still doesn't spin but the system seems stable...
  8. So yeah, after trying that I once again opened up Skyrim, the game I first noticed problems in. It runs fine, but I noticed (after laying my Computer sideways) that my PSU-Fan is not spinning. As in not at all. With a 2000 Watt PSU that wouldn't be that big of a problem, a 1060 and not even half utilized 7700k wont draw enough so that the fans would spin but on a 550 Watt PSU? For me the only logical conclusion is that my Power Supply is broken, shutting my Computer down to it overheating. Am I right so far?
  9. So as a Update:I just ran Prime 95 für Half an Hour, no Problems, completely stable. I guess that proves the CPU not being the problem.
  10. First of my Build is: i7 7700k cooled by a Kraken x62 on at Strix Z270f Gaming 16 GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 at 3000 mHz and a GTX 1060 Strix O6C, along with a 2 TB HDD by Seagate and a 256 GB SSD by Sandisk. Now to my problems: On Friday I have delidded my i7, worked fine and dropped between 5 and 20 °Celsius, the computer worked fine after. Though what I did still notice (yes still, was a problem before and after), was that my PC seems to randomly blue screen during playing games, with some stupid reason. Also on startup, sometimes my computer tries posting and gets suddenly stuck on my boot drive, not continuing to post. Now to the latest bits and pieces by crashes: Computer randomly just shuts down, as if pressing the power button for 5 seconds, whenever I try starting a game. CPU-Load is at around 30-50% with temps anywhere from 40-50° Celsius. GPU-Load is at around 99% with temps in the range of 50-60° Celsius. And then the Computer, after a frozen screen, is just gone. Starting my PC again is no problem, posts mostly fine (apart from the upper mentioned problem, which can be fixed by removing the power plug for a short while, clearing any cache as far as I'm aware), but as soon as I try leveraging any kind of performance from my PC it crashes again. I don't believe this to be a CPU Issue, if it was it shouldn't even post or work at all. I don't believe it to be a heat related issue neither, not for the VRMs on the Motherboard (CPU isn't even overclocked right now) nor for any other component. It might be ram but I find that unlikely, seeing as it is a new kit of Dominators, and the day these start failing is the day pigs fly. So please, if anyone is able to help me, I'd really appreciate it, I have no Idea anymore, everything on my PC is no older than a year and should still be in working order... Merry Christmas and PLEASE HAAAAALP!
  11. What do you mean by that? The thought is that I need the option to not only write down all the stuff of my lectures on that laptop, do basic internet of things stuff but nothing really major like rendering any chemical stuff or playing games or something
  12. Hey guys, I am in need of a 2 in 1 convertable Laptop with support for a stylus of some kind (e.g Lenovo Yoga) but not as expensive. I am based in germany so either international or German/European deals would be best. My budget is 1000€ at most, I'd prefer some less though. I dont need it for gaming or for real power, I have a 7700k and 1060 for that. So I dont need any "I7 8700U, 1080 max-q 16 gB Dominator Platinum at 4000 mHz"-Laptop, just a convertable that supports a stylus, is a good deal and that you would recommend or found out about. Also it should have a at least good Battery, I need it for university and there are no power outlets withing the lecture rooms. Thanks a lot Paul
  13. Ok nvm got to scale the budget down. We need memory, motherboard cpu and GPU for 700€ I think the R5 would be better in that case if at all
  14. Sorry I forgot, its mainly for 1080p 60hz, so like a cheapo monitor and stuff...
  15. `Hey there, so once again I am trying to build a new PC for a friend. Now I have not been that up to date regarding Coffee Lake, thats why I have to ask. With Kabylake it was rather clear, Z270 is a "dying" platform, better invest in Ryzen it will make upgrading later on easier. But now? I know that both the 8400 and the 8600k should perform better in games than any R5 (thinking of the 1600). But are they worth it? I mean a 8400 is 250 with a motherboard for at least 100€, the 8600k is at 300€ and a OC Motherboard for 125-150€. Ryzen on the other hand has more cores than a 8400, can be Overclocked and has a pretty good out of the Box cooler. Now the big Problem is that I dont have an Exact Budget, but I think it will range from 800-1200 with case, hard drive and psu allready owned. Thanks Paul/heulboje21
