Thanks folks, that's a massive help! I do realise I'm being a bit too optimistic thinking they would just hand over a GoPro but you don't get if you don't ask. This is going to be quite a big event and we will be the first folk to ever live on top of Ben Nevis for a whole week. Worth a shot. As it's for charity the less outgoings the better. Thanks again!

The power supply should not be able to turn on your PC... For me it sounds more like your motherboard having problems. Check your BIOS/UEFI settings if PCI POL options are enabled. My POL settings are not working correctly at the moment and my PC sometimes randomly starts in the night because my router send a ping or something to check if it is still online.

I really don't think it's the PSU. But you could install the 250W PSU and start your PC without your GPU. If I'm right it should have the same problems now too. But this is no 100% indicator because your motherboard could just have problems when it gets too much power handling the GPU. But is is a start i guess...

Every game I've owned (sans PS2, in which case I borrowed) I've pirated before I bought it.

No, a GPU wouldn't be referred to as a "graphics ASIC" because GPUs are designed to be able run any sort of code you throw at them, whether it be a game/benchmark (using DX9/10/11/12, OpenGL, Mantle, etc), any sort of bulk computation like password cracking, or CUDA acceleration in video editing.. The term ASIC is talking about something much more specific, as in the entire design of the chip and PCB is built around a single set of code. For bitcoin mining, the ASICs are built to do SHA-256 hashing and SHA-256 hashing only. There is absolutely nothing else you can do with it.

I edited my previous posts.. He's not talking completely out of his ass, he's just using a random term that nobody (including myself) knows or uses in this context.

I do have some led strips behind the motherboard but I'm very picky and I like a bit of lighting on the fans so you can see them through the grills haha.

So you r looking at the 140mm Green LED Spectre Pro's? There isnt much else out there that offers LEDs and performance sadly but they are decent fans. The one thing you do loose when going for the LED versions is PWM control of the fans.

Not sure what LLC is the best for your motherboard. If you set for example 1.35V in the bios and if you leave LLC at auto or at the lowest setting, your vcore will drop to eg 1.30V and thats called vdroop. When you use one higher llc level, it drops to eg 1.32V, one more higher level you get 1.34V so try one thats giving you the most sharp vcore to what you gave in the bios. Some boards have llc levels that are overvolting, eg you gave 1.35V in the bios it gives 1.40V under load that's not what you want.
Intel burntest is the best for ivy bridge cpu's, crashes an unstable ivy much faster than prime.

Found your problem, that's in bold. Put the PLL to 1.80V back (which is default and lock it to 1.80 so it doesnt exceed that value), with a lower pll voltage you're going to have to put more vcore behind your cpu. Lately a guy here on this forum made the same mistake setting the pll voltage to 1.70V and requiring 1.50V orsomething for 4.5GHz.
    Leave vtt on auto.

leave vtt on auto. set pll to 1.75-1.8v for stability. That 1-3C difference when lowering pll voltage isn't worth the possible instability.

Oh and you said dynamic vcore. very cool stuff there when you get it tuned. heres a tip, do not use LLC when using an offset voltage.

3D rendering and things like that. Also give Intel Burn Test and OCCT a go. i find them better anyway
