  1. So my partner's PC has some issues. Sometimes the PC starts up fine, and then refuses to launch anything other than file explorer (and task manager if you're very fast). The one time I did manage to open task manager, it seemed like the CPU wasn't under load at all, just sometimes a 1-3% when opening or closing file explorer. Usually after turning off the PC, and leaving it off overnight it works fine the next time you start it up. But if you turn it off and open it within a few minutes, it boots to wallpaper, and then refuses to launch anything other than file exporer. Everything is there, but it just won't open it. Before that it just plays all games and programs on normal setting like a charm, no temp issues, no stuttering, super fast. Also in the BIOS it said that the temp was 60 something degrees, while there wasn't any heat or even warmth coming off the CPU. The CPU was running at its normal 4.0 GHz speed when task manager was open. What can be the problem here? It just happened overnight. System: Ryzen 3600x 16GB Corsair Veng RAM 1660 super MSI Tomahawk b450 All relatively new (like 1 year)
  2. Yeah the problem was that my League of legends normally runs at 200+ fps, and now it was running at 40 with constant stuttering. 2nd restart fixed the problem.
  3. Why is my CPU running at 1.6 GHz? Normally it's running 4.1 when active, but today it just suddenly dropped to 1.6, I checked because my pc felt a little sluggish. Haven't seen it go over 2.1 in about half an hour yet.
  4. So my HDD is split in 2 partitions (and a recovery partition), but one of them was nearly empty with non-essential stuff on it. I Want to merge these 2 partitions to just one, but I don't know how to do it. I tried googling, but it didn't make me any wiser. And I'm afraid of this message, because I don't know what it means.
  5. It's a out of the box OC from gigabyte, so it's not running at actual stock speeds, but he did no manual overclocking. Maybe I'll underclock it a bit to check. Cables are connected correctly iirc We were planning on refunding it if the issue continues if the card is plugged into my own rig.
  6. So my friend has a Ryzen 2400G with integrated graphics, but he wanted a real video card. So he got a Gigabyte RX Vega 56 on sale. Ever since he plugged the card in it started randomly turning his screen off and on. His screen only has a DVI and VGA input, so he's using a HDMI > VGA adapter to run his screen. Screen 1: 1680x1050p (screen 2 too iirc, but it does the same thing with only one screen) CPU: Ryzen 2400G GPU: Gigabyte RX Vega 56 Gaming OC RAM: 4x4 2400MHz Vengeance LPX PSU: Corsair CX550 Could it be the PSU that's not giving enough power? Before he bought it we checked, and there's many people running Vega 56's with a 550W PSU, even though recommended is 600/650. I think we tried a lot, but I'm not sure if we tried everything. The only thing I can think of if that it's the PSU. Things we tried: - Updating drivers - Disabling Integrated Graphics - Fully rebooting PC and re-inserting components - Plugging in only one monitor (in the video the left screen is plugged into the 56 and the right screen is into the motherboard) - Much more It won't stop With the GPU not plugged in at all, running on integrated graphics, it doesn't fuck up and works correctly. Any help would be appreciated. video-1543364179.mp4
  7. Cheeky bump. I'd really like a solution
  8. My bad, mistyped. Edited the post
  9. - moved to troubleshooting
  10. So I got a new case with 3 front panel intakes, and a single rear panel exhaust. There's room for 3 more 120mm or 2 140mm fans on the top panel. Since I have a Hyper T4 and an AM4, my cpu fan is mounted bottom to top. I'm planning on installing a 120mm fan above my cpu fan in order to exhaust the hot air more efficiently. I've heard (mostly heard) some things about airflow, and how it's important to have more intakes than exhausts, and with a new 120mm installed above my cpu there's 2 exhaust (2+ if you count my cpu fan blowing upwards) vs 3 intakes. So I'm basically going from +2 intakes to only +1 intake. There is no room for another front panel intake, so I was wondering whether I could install a second top panel 120mm as an intake, or would that disrupt the airflow and have other negative effects? ^me trying to visualise^
  11. A killer as in? A killed CPU? Now I'm scared Luckily I have a little more space between my fan and my GPU than in your pic, so it gets a little more air, but it's not a lot. Do you know how much of a difference it might make?
  12. So currently I have the Sharkoon T28 as my case. It's a solid block of aluminum, and the top panel is aluminum as well. I have a Ryzen 1600x, cooled by a Cooler Master hyper t4, but this cooler can only be mounted one way on the am4 socket (bottom to top). My "idle" temperatures (10% load) are jumping between 40 and 50 Celcius, and feel like that's a little high. I have a feeling the aluminum on the top of the case is gathering heat, especially during the summer. Now I've been looking to get a new case for a while now, and I was wondering whether a case with top panel cooling options would help me cool my case better than a solid aluminum top, because I can suck out the hot air from my CPU cooler instantly. Also, I didn't know whether to post this in "Air Cooling" or "Cases and Power Supplies", but I went with cases, sincit's ultimately a case question.
  13. OK so I swapped HDMI cables and that didn't work, but when I used a HDMI to DVI adapter and used the DVI to plug it in it caused no interference. A friend suggested that she had it as well, and that it could be an EMI leak, but I really don't know. HDMI to DVI is working for now. I'll disassemble my whole rig tomorrow and clean it out to check if that might work for my HDMI cable. Thanks for the tips!
  14. Yes it's on WIFI, and it only happens when I use it WITH my pc. If I connect my xbox to my second monitor this doesn't happen. It happens when I plug the HDMI in my pc. Before this it worked perfectly. I'm buying LAN cables soon though, so that might help.
  15. I wasn't sure whether to post this in this subforum or the displays subforum. So my internet on my PC either completely dies or slows down like crazy once I connect my second monitor. My main monitor is a 1440x2560 144hz monitor, I'm using a Displayport cable, and my second monitor is a 1080p monitor that uses a HDMI cable. These two have worked together perfectly atleast 2 months now, since I got the 1440p new. Only since 2 days does it do this. ^Monitor connected Monitor not connected. It also kills my Discord and it says it can't find the server for webpages. I was lucky to even have the test with monitor connected.
  16. Yeah but it won't run anything between 2400 and 2933 either. 3 beeps every time.
  17. So I've been trying to overclock my RAM on my Ryzen 1600x, it's running 2133 now, and the RAM itself could run up to 3200. I have 16gb (2x8) Corsair Vengeance LPX installed, in a msi b350 tomahawk motherboard. All drivers and BIOS are up to date. I already knew the 3200 overclock wouldn't work or be stable, but even the XMP profiles my motherboard offers me won't let me boot my pc, just like the memory try it stuff. I'm getting 3 long beeps, then a shutdown, that repeats 3 times, until it boots with my original settings. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but not a single RAM profile seems to let me boot my pc. Any help would be appreciated.
  18. So im running a MSI 1070 gaming x at the moment, but I can get a 1080 founders for 250 euros, which is a pretty good deal. I can also sell my 1070 to get money back, to it would almost be a free upgrade. I'm also planning to upgrade my monitor to 1440p ultrawide, so some extra power would be very helpful. Is the 1080 founders actually a lot stronger than my current card, or does the custom cooler one provide more power?
  19. Okay fair enough, gotta learn how to do that first, but if the X isn't really worth it, I might do this. Saves me 20 on the CPU and 40 on a cooler. Was planning on overclocking the 1600x as well, but if it's not worth it...
  20. I only have 1 rear fan and a closed top, so no place for the radiator there, won't that be a problem?
  21. Isn't the 1600 clocked .4 GHz slower than the 1600x?
  22. I had already seen the Hyper 212 evo, but I thought that with 159 mm I wouldn't want to take the risk. The other one seems pretty good tho, thanks!
