  1. Hi all - thanks! Really helpful. I will ask the seller for proof it's working. Also buying on eBay & using PayPal, so hopefully OK re: microwaves :/.
  2. Hi all, What are your thoughts on a: - 2nd hand GTX 1080 (Gigabyte windforce). eBay for £310. vs - New RTX 2060 (Gigabyte windforce). Ebuyer for £350. I've used 'windforce' here to keep them comparable in terms of cooling & quality. I have no real interest in Ray Tracing - from the bits I have seen it currently delivers half the frame rate for a subjective difference in aesthetics (I think some scenes look worse with RT on personally!). But not sure if the 2060 is still a better choice for some reason? Particularly given the 1080 is a more powerful card (according to User Benchmark: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2060-6GB-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1080/4034vs3603 )
  3. Ah that's really helpful! Next upgrade will be the monitor - ideally a top spec 1440p 120-144hz IPS display (like the previous gen Predator). 4k just seems like a waste of time (and money!). Really good to know that I might be able to push the graphics settings of new games while keeping the frame rate lowish to make the most of the GPU, without bottlenecking at the CPU. I'm not am e-sports gamer so mega framerates not an issue. Just pretty pictures! Thanks for the quick reply! IJD
  4. Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my GPU. My old GTX 670 is not really up to running AC Odyssey so time to move on. I am not really interested in a full rig upgrade. Or at least not all at once. So bottlenecks will probably be inevitable, but I'll iron them out over time with new parts. I've found a 1080ti on eBay for £200 (long story but all good with the card). So... do you see any massive issues with adding it to the following setup: - Mobo: Asus Sabertooth Z77 - CPU: Intel i5 3570k - RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance (1600mhz) - PSU: 850W gold - SSD & HDD storage My peripherals are rubbish so first upgrade after this is definitely a new monitor to actually make the most of the card. I won't bother to say what I have now - it'll make you sad. Many thanks, IJD
