dizmo got a reaction from justinboggs in Thought's on the latest dbrand controversy (Project Killswitch)?
Worth noting that not everyone can use Paypal, or chooses to use Paypal.
Some providers allow chargebacks up to 1 year after the purchase, so that might be a venue.
But it's $3. I'd just suck it up as a loss and move on.

I find it odd that dBrand decided to do this, and their reasoning of "we already offer it on sale, why would we include it" just wreaks of poor marketing.

dizmo got a reaction from RedRound2 in Google Pixel Fold - Patents show design, but no punchhole or under-display camera.
Eh. All for the push forward with foldable tech but after watching Google fumble with hardware issues what seems like every year, I wouldn't touch a foldable put out by them.

To me the fold on this looks different than the Fold 4. It looks like it goes a lot more flush, and want we're seeing in the images above is how the screen folds internally. I think this is far more in line with the Oppo Find N in design. I hope they go with a similar size with beefed up spec. Then they'd have something truly interesting. I wonder how much of a screen downsize we'll see because of the larger bezel. If they simply made the device bigger I think it'll be a little tooo chonky.

dizmo got a reaction from jaslion in 40 TGP GTX 1650 Max Q vs 60 TGP GTX 1650 Max Q, what's the difference?
More power, more performance, less battery life. I wouldn't.
It's generally suggested not to buy GTX 1650 laptops as the performance is quite poor compared to other offerings.

Eh. Took a look at most of the comments you see upon opening it and most of them seem to complain about the price. Not surprising. There's lots of people that don't understand premium things, and a lot of LTT's younger audience probably has no desire (or really, use) for a $70 screwdriver.

I don't see why you'd feel embarrassment for someone else, just because you follow their content. They're not connected to you, have no relation to you, and don't know you exist. They're nothing to you, you're nothing to them. Period.

I don't see this as negatively affecting them that much. He's standing up for his product. Good on him.
Now, if you can point out to specific tweets that devolve into something worse, giv'er.

    Yes, Megapro.
    They have. Megapro.
    Wrong.
Does iFixIt make it's own stuff? I'd highly doubt that. They send it away, just like virtually every other manufacturer.
He's said parts of it are are sent to China. Enough of it is done here that it could be labelled as Made In Canada.
I highly doubt that, or you work with people of a very young mental maturity. I also don't believe that potential customers are being turned away. It just went live, and they've already sold 10,000. Even if it did turn away a small handful, oh well. Doesn't really affect much in the long run. You will never please everyone, and trying will simply end in complete failure. Correcting people spreading misinformation can be pretty important, and it can result in more lost sales since there's no blowback from the retailer.
It's not a new thing on the LTT forum, they love to bandwagon on joining the current hate train. For the past couple of years it's been Intel.
    I don't follow.
    Well that devolved quickly.
Completely disagree. Lots of stuff designed in China is of exceptional quality. Just look at the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2.
Beats the Samsung in almost every design regard.

Ratchet mechanism was shifted to China after their Taiwanese producer got bought out by a major tool brand. Linus stated the quality of their early samples from the Chinese supplier were much higher quality than the ones from Taiwan. Plus they were easier to communicate with for feedback.

Otherwise yes. The handle and final assembly is done in Canada.

I understand why Linus is doing what he is doing, hes very proud of his product that his team has spent years developing and a lot of money on. The pop up gave him a ton of positive feedback. That said, some people aren't gonna be convinced otherwise. A reoccurring theme in the actual screwdriver thread is someone posting that there are alternatives for more than half the price of the screwdriver. To some, the quality of the product doesn't matter as much as the price.

I never said I agreed with his post at all, but you chose to assume my allegiance instead of reading what I actually wrote. Along with fanboys come haters, both relying on a non objective view/reaction of the situation. You think he's doing bad, and that's fine. You're more than entitled to that opinion. But that's your OPINION, you don't just magically get the right to force him to stop voicing HIS OPINION. Free speech is not speech with no consequence, it's speech subject to public scrutiny. He has the right to say what he wants even if he's wrong. And we have the right to disagree with him and voice our opinions in response, even if WE are wrong. But no one gets to force him to close his mouth or take his phone away. Now I'll give the benefit of the doubt and assume you weren't actually threatening to run to his house, assault him and steal his phone. But just like his free speech is subject to scrutiny, so is yours. Your post wasn't worded as an objective critique encouraging engagement. Your post was just rude yelling thru the internet. Your post is what we call being a hater. Hence the sarcastic tone I used and frequently use on my children to point out the fallacies in their arguments.

We just take the drives out and keep them with dates on them. Then once every 6 months to a year audit the drives, contact the customer one last time. No response after 2 weeks the drives are destroyed. When the client signs it states we are not responsible for their data and it is their responsibility have a back. However, out of an abundance of caution we chose this.

Computers can be replaced. Data cannot was our thought on the matter.

Growing a client base, tools and experience takes time. I will say that I am damn good at computer repair and most in home services. But, that took 17 years, thousands of hours, thousands of computers and a lot of mistakes.

Ehhh. I mean it's not terrible, but:
I'd look into cheaper storage options. The Pro drives are usually terrible value for the money. Check the PSU against the LTT PSU Tier list; only pick something in one of the upper tiers. Try and get a better GPU; build looks rather unbalanced, and the 6600 isn't a great performer. That's a massive cooler for that CPU. Welcome to the forum.

Looks fine to me! I'd only make a few changes
I'd get a smaller cpu cooler because while it is good, it's pretty overkill for a 12400. An Arctic esports or vetroo v5 would be fine instead
I'd get cheaper ram, such as 16gb of 3200 cl16 since they perfrom similarly anyways
980 pro is a pretty expensive ssd, you can allocate budget elsewhere, mainly your gpu
    Revised list

The msi mag psu is A tier so no concern there

It's nice to hear that Razer products are way better now. But I think I kinna still hold some grudge against that company. For now, I will not be considering giving them money since there are other decent options being recommended.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'm very happy that you mentioned brands that I have not heard of at all.
I would really wanna give them a try, but I have already set my mind on the ROG Spatha X for my main desktop mouse, and the mouse for my laptop really needs to be wireless.

    Thank you for your help.
