Damn, nice deal. How did you pull that off?

Guy wanted $150 on eBay, it had an hour left and no one had bid. I offered him $100, and he took it. Easy peasy lol

Currently have my eye on 3 or 4 complete PCs to buy and harvest parts out of.

I bought a bunch of Chinese watercooling components off of eBay to do a custom loop in my X58 machine and push the CPU as hard as possible. The loop has a 240mm and a 360mm and it cost me just over $105 (thanks @Tristerin :D). I think I want to pick up a Xeon W3680 at some point. $40-$50 for an unlocked 6C/12T chip and I've been having fun overclocking X58 so far. I have a X5687 (4C/8T) at 4.6GHz pushing similar numbers to an i7-3770 and an E5645 (6C/12T but the multiplier is locked and I can't really get past about 4.1GHz.)

In a few weeks I'll probably order the parts I want to build my keyboard. 60% form factor, Gateron Blacks, RGB illumination, PBT doubleshot backlit caps and an aluminum chassis and midplate for $140 isn't bad for something far above the quality of most mass-produced keyboards.

@TheSLSAMG Ohhhh nice, that sounds like it'll be interesting! I've never really been one for water cooling, but it's always been interesting to see the builds come together. Are you going to be doing some kind of build blog? Haha, that's crazy. What do you use the build for?

Where did you buy your keyboard parts? I've been tempted to build a keyboard as well. I just don't see many full sized choices.

I'll definitely do a build log of the system. The parts are really cheap but I think that makes it at least as interesting as a super high end machine with all really nice parts. The build will be used for a mix of VR gaming and the usual tinkering and experimentation that I haven't let myself do on my main rig.

For the keyboard parts, I was recommended to shop on https://kbd.fans/, https://kprepublic.com/ and https://pimpmykeyboard.com/. I'll be buying most of my parts from KBDFans minus the keycaps, which I'll be getting off of Aliexpress since they're only ~$10 for a decent set. For a full-size, the KBD19X is probably the closest PCB to what you want. The smaller right shift and 1x1 Num 0 don't really bother me since I primarily use the left shift anyways. It doesn't have backlighting, but there may be other 90-100% keyboard PCBs with backlighting.

Hmmm I don't think I could use the keyboard with the smaller keys, especially since I do a considerable amount of typing with the numpad and it'd really throw me off to have it set up like that. I suppose I'll just stick to my plain Jane keyboards for now ?
