  1. Hey everyone. A while back I managed to score a deal with my grandfather to swap out my 1080p 60hz monitor with his 4k 60hz monitor. At the time I thought this was a great deal, cos 4k! Unfortunately the graphics card I have in my rig(R9 290x) isn't quite powerful enough to power most games at the native resolution of 4k @ 60 fps, this means I have to downscale to 1440p which is often at times blurrier and less satisfying. Now I am on the verge of upgrading and am considering buying a new monitor. So I have two questions to ask, the first being does downscaling a 4k monitor to 1440p provide the same performance than that of a natively 1440p monitor? And the second question is should I buy a 1440p 144hz monitor or stick with the 4k monitor? For reference the 4k monitor I currently own is the Samsung U28E590D, the 1440p monitor I am looking to purchase is the Acer XG270HU however that is subject to change depending on what graphics card I will be upgrading to.
