She sure was engaging with people on her own terms when she told her married boss on camera to "stick it in the box" and giggled like a schoolgirl, and he had to tell her to stop. I'm sure Yvonne really appreciated that "joke" of hers.

You appear to be uninterested in actually discussing the issue. Steve reported on faults from public videos or things that happened in public domain. There are perfectly valid reasons to not reach for comment and to grasp at it as if it means Steve acted unethically is simply incorrect and besides the point at hand.

Everyone who lets them watch cartoons. FFS this is such a non issue..  and only an issue for puriteans... Especially since innuendos go over childrens heads...

The block that made this all happen 😄

that guy that won that auction made a solid deal! he probably can auction it off for triple (if not more) the value.

It's much worse than that IMO.  Lots of people noticed problems with their data a very long time ago but never said anything and/or didn't really care enough to write the wall of text necessary to backup their claim. After GN's video, people won't be scared anymore (eg. look at the content of this thread) to call them out for it. If they decided to not fix their shit, the top comments on every single video is gonna be people pointing out the corrections all over the videos and/or problem with the lab's work.

That would make it so much worse. If you don't get why, try to think about how we got here in the first place.  It's not a single mistake from a single employe, it is a systematic problem.

He keeps saying (almost every week on wan show) that it's a good thing the community holds him accountable. He is building is brand around this. Regardless of the outcome, it's a good thing that he has to face this reality at least once. Not hypothetically on an excel spreadsheet, but for real.  Now we will see if they actually can adapt or not.

With regards to "journalism" and ethics... Steve was not required to talk to Linus ahead of time before posting the video. In journalism, you only contact the subject if the evidence you have is from third parties or if you think the subject of your piece might give you a good quote. The bulk of Steve's criticism was directly from LTT videos, so there was no need for Linus to comment on videos his team approved or direct quotes from Linus on the WAN show.

Now for those who think that he had a social responsibility to talk to Linus directly because they are friends: I'm glad he didn't. Do we really want to live in a world where issues are handled behind the scenes to leave the audience in the dark? Steve wants Linus to do better and calling him out publically is the only thing that will get his attention (kind of like the video Linus did about Intel in the rain). I'm sure plenty of the LMG staff have expressed concerns about the quality of the videos, but he has obviously ignored them because he thinks upload schedules are more important than accuracy. Also, if Linus gets a crappy CPU from Intel, does he spend weeks emailing them about the poor test results and give them time to ramp up their PR machine? No, he publishes the video because it's more important to inform the general public of the poor product before a large company can spin the negative review in their favor.

Even after this "hit piece",  their very next video had many mistakes in it. If that extremely damaging video wasn't enough to make them rethink their process, do you really think an email would have fixed things?  I get your point of view, but I do not believe we would have any chance of seeing them stop putting out misleading garbage data unless someone puts a fire under their ass. They have the right tools and the expertise to do it right but they don't because they don't feel like they have to and they assume no one will care that much. GN might be doing them a favor by pulling the band aid now before they invest even more on the Lab, hire more staff, and commit to even more videos per week. It's better to slow down and figure things out early before they accumulate an even more expensive payroll.

The pitchforks were raised because for the past 2 years criticism was met with pushback before actual correction. The whole reacting first then giving rational thought later is bad PR. I get it, i love watching the wan show and hearing your oppinions raw, but in these situations you need to tread carefully.

What happened to old linus i knew, the one who would listen to feedback and put emotions aside. The one who would make an effort when correcting videos, even for comedic ones like the cheap onn tv video where there is a jumpcut clarifying something minor.

The linus I see now is one who immediately sees criticism as people out to get him first, and while i get that toxic people are out there, most of the time their criticisms maybe have an ounce of truth that should be considered fully. I also see someone who cares more about opportunity cost than making quality videos first.

And i get it, LTT is massive, but the goals of LTT should remain constant, making the best videos possible, reguardless of how size and scale changes. If anything impedes on making quality videos, maybe it should be taken a closer look at.

Saying that LTT is going through growing pains works maybe once or twice. But i would think that the next GPU or CPU review would have way more time spent ensuring mistakes dont happen again. In the past, egregious mistakes often have the video taken dowm, and a corrected video be issued. This is no longer the case, and it rings a "but we will lose momentum in the algorithm" concern that causes the video to stay up. Sometimes, its better to eat the loss instead of trying to maintain profit, like that time you messed up pricing for a product at NCIX and instead of canceling orders, your boss telling you to honor the orders and eat the loss.

And look, i understand a big company like yours has miscommunication all the time, but the moment you saw it start to impact the quality of videos, the issue should have been addressed then and there instead of sweeping it under the rug. Using the whole "our company is growing" as a scapegoat only works so much. Its time to take drastic action, and actually take responsibility rather that point to a nebulous term.

Watching the GN video, typing this response was very hard for me to do. The last GN video about TMB i didnt agree with, as i felt it didnt consider the human element in that situation, but this is different. Im a big fan, i own the OG Swacket, mousepad, waterbottle, and have ltt stickers everywhere. Been watching the channel for 8 years. But seeing the GN video, but more specifically this response that just sang the same tones as every other response to a mistake LTT has made, felt like a stab in the chest.

All i ask for is i guess affirmative action at this point rather than using the same scapegoat. Taking a pause and iorning things out. I hope someone at LTT reads this, and doesnt pass me off as a hater, rather a deeply dissapointed fan.

You being a ham sandwich would actually explain a lot to be honest 😛

Bad jokes aside, the question of whether or not Steve is a journalist is completely irrelevant to the discussion actually. Finding angles to attack him on, however many you find, does not change what Linus did wrong in this situation and what has been going wrong at LMG. In fact, Steve could be a professional clown and these issues would still persist.

Again with the double standard ... everything Steve reported on, was publicly available information, too - he just pointed it out to his viewers. Wouldn't logic dictate then that no ethical violations have been committed by GN here, because I could have found out about all of this by myself?
