  1. I think that was a solid move on Linus' part. There's no need to drag on this non-issue by talking about it. LTT made a funny video about RED, Corridor made a video responding to it. We, the fans, will discuss it for a few days but it won't become a bigger deal because we'll forget about it; but if Linus talked about it on the WAN show it'll be a much bigger deal and it really isn't a big enough topic for him to discuss and drag out.
  2. Linus mentioned that that's why Nvidia was willing to lend them
  3. The Mezzanine updates are a bunch of quick one or two minute shaky cam footage of the renovations currently happening at the LMG HQ. It's just linus walking around the construction site talking about what's being built and that sort of thing. LMG doesn't want to release the vids on Youtube because of their low quality and low production value (With Youtube's algorithms, these low-ish quality videos could really hurt their view numbers). Linus has mentioned that a proper, high production value video detailing the new construction will be released on Youtube once it's completed. I believe it'll be in the format of an updated office tour.
  4. Not sure if this is a causation or just a weird fluke but LTT lost 3000+ subs the day they released the video on crappiest SLI setup.
  5. darn it! Enjoy those quadros, we use consumer level cards at work and I can work with massive assemblies with thousands of parts no problem; I can only imagine what sort of power those quadros bring to the table.
  6. Wait, someone is actually using the rig? I had thought it would be taken apart and the monitors returned to Acer and the GPUs to Nvidia @AlexTheGreatish how do you like the multi display for solidworks? I use a two screen setup at work (I use solidworks for a lot of my projects. one screen for solidworks, the other for emails, drawings, analysis, excel, etc), and have often thought about requesting an upgrade for more screens but always worried the bezels would get in the way.
  7. I initially bought the G900 but ended up not loving its feel in the hand, the G403 fit my grip style much better.
  8. I use the G403 and love it. It has the same sensor as the G903 and a lot of the same base technology and performace. The difference is mainly in build quality and aesthetics (like some fancy weight saving features, additional swap-able buttons, infinity scrolling, etc). If you can, I'd wait to see how the G703 ends up. It's basically the same mouse, with slightly better switches and logitech's new wireless charging tech (that is if you are willing to pay the premium for it).
  9. Now in defense of the clickbait thumbnails. LMG is a business and have to make decisions that increase views, and if their research shows the new thumbnail style does that, they YES they should make those weird thumbnails. I'm sure @nicklmg and @CPotter won't approve of any changes that hurt sales and viewership. I don't care either way about the thumbnails, I watch LTT for their content not a thumbnail I barely look at.I'm not sure that the thumbnail somehow makes the quality of the content within the video less enjoyable. No matter the thumbnail they use, Linus will still drop tech, Taran will steal all the cutlery, and Jon will ramble on about a topic no one really cares about. And for everyone complaining about how LTT videos have dropped in quality from the golden years/months of LTT, deal with it, stop watching LTT videos, or whatever. LTT has always had a mix of good videos and ones that I stopped watching two minutes in. When you release over 400 videos a year there will be some bad ones. And as LTT grows as a business there will be some changes, bigger projects, different writing and editing styles, and if any of those changes hurt viewership then LTT will backtrack, but as long as the changes improve viewership then LTT will continue making those changes. IMO, LTT is one of the few youtubers who have improved as they've grown, I've unsubscribed a few channels who grew too fast and lost the core feature that made them interesting (favorite example is pewdiepie, I subbed a guy gaming and unsubscribed a guy who was vlogging his life).
  10. I'm going to go straight up LTT fanboy and defend @LinusTech here. 1) I don't think that video was meant to be sarcastic, it was an off the hook reaction of Linus finding out what he paid for, he's not questioning why they needed the parts, he's just not happy about how much they cost. Of course Linus knew how much the RED gear cost, and why they cost as much as they do (he approved the purchase, didn't he?). But just like most people he doesn't have to be happy with how much it cost. For example, I complained about the cost of my car when I bought it, and you'll occasionally still hear me b*tch about it, but that doesn't mean I didn't want to pay for it, I know what quality costs and will pony up, but that doesn't mean I'm happy about it. Linus was the same with the RED gear, he knew how much it cost, he was willing to pay it, but was not happy about it. Sometimes we want something and will pay what it costs to obtain it, but won't be happy about what it cost; it's part of life. 2) Part of what makes LTT great is that all the people working are massive gear heads, Linus and @Slick love messing with PCs, @BRollTheIntern is bogo for camera gear, @TaranLMG uploaded a 3 hour tutorial on Premier, you get the idea. Sometimes they go all out because they want to play with the gear and have a badass tech setup because they enjoy the experience. That's part of what the RED cameras are, this is Linus helping Brandon and Maxine improve their video quality by investing in some crazy gear (This is their version of full room watercooling). They do it because they want to. 3) Linus knows very well the importance of investing in your employees and business, sure he could have managed with some cheap-ish 4k camera like a GH5 like most other tech youtubers, but with the RED gear he's investing in the future (Remember, this is the guy who bought a 4k sony camera back in 1080p youtube days). Just because Youtube doesn't support mainstream 8K doesn't mean LTT cannot use all those extra pixels, the more detail that's captured the easier the editors will be able to use those clips. With more detail, the editors have more options to clip or zoom into a clip. With RED raw footage they can do a lot of post production work that makes the videos a better production value. Linus believes in delivering quality content to youtube (just look at his videos where they look into their video editing process) and they want their videos look their best on youtube and while the RED gear might be overkill, Linus probably believes that the investment is worth it. And LMG also uploads to FPC, and with the higher bitrate FPC videos look so much better than Youtube and I will presume that as FPC takes off, LTT will be looking to upload better quality videos to FPC and maybe move to 8k at a really good bitrate.
  11. Not a big gamer so I wouldn't know too much about that. I use my rig for mostly CAD and engineering workloads and switched over to Ryzen recently. While some bugs still need to be fixed, the performance increase I noticed switching from an i5 to the Ryzen 1600x (those cpus are what my budget allows for) was pretty significant. I'm still running a Nvidia 760ti, I'm waiting for some initial impressions of vega running some CAD software to see if should pony up for a Vega 56.
  12. Did some research and you're right. The CF791 can be bought right now for roughly $200 off of msrp at some online retailers. Ryzen 7 and X370 prices have also dropped from msrp enough that we can buy some combos for more than $100 off msrp. The only real deal here are the games, AMD isn't offering any real deal on the hardware. So if looks like the bundle is entirely an effort to prevent miners buying up all the cards. A $100 premium should prevent miners buying them but the two games should make it a good deal for gamers.
  13. According to Anandtech "As for the contents of the bundle, the bundled games are rather straightforward: the bundle simply comes with the games (presumably in voucher form). For the hardware however, the discounts come in the form of an instant rebate on the hardware, not a voucher or other “bankable” form. This means that if you buy a Radeon Pack SKU, you must buy the discounted hardware at the same time to get the discount. You are not required to buy the hardware – instead paying the $100 premium just for the card selection and included games – but the discounts cannot be saved until later. It’s now or never." You can buy the card with just the games, but if you do not add the hardware to your cart as you pay for the bundle, you cannot come back at a later time and expect to cash in on the discount. imo, if I ended up buying a Vega, I would buy the hardware and try to flip it on ebay or craigslist for a minor profit.
  14. Some sources are stating that it's a discount on one specific Samsung monitor model (The one pictured, CF791 I believe) , and select Ryzen 7 and X370 combos. By limiting the choice AMD is probably making it easier for more retailers to carry the bundles. Instead of bundling games with the cards, AMD is bundling games+hardware. Almost all retailers should already have some setup for bundle sales, and giving that the choices in this bundle are not as varied as initial impressions suggest, most retailers should be able to carry the bundles. Also, the discount is off MSRP.
