Glad it worked out! Hilariously turning it of and back on again, or unplugging and plugging back in actually work sometimes lol.

No problem! You could also try power cycling your modem, it could be the ethernet switch inside of it that is acting up. I'd probably start with that first.

This is just anecdotal however when I tried those I had some weird results. Their whole kit performed at about 70% of my latest-gen AirPort Extreme I ended up returning the kit and just using their extenders with my AirPort, best of both worlds. Not all extenders are created equal and I've found the standalone extenders from AmplifiHD to be really good.

What program should I use to rip discs I own?

I've used Handbrake, just make sure it's a clean copy and not an old janky one. If it doesn't have the codec it needs to strip encryption it should prompt you where to download it. -
