fastcar123 got a reaction from Ben17 in Does there exist an AIO with a leak warranty?
I am just curious more than anything.
Is there an AIO that exists that has a warranty so strong that the manufacture covers or replaces damaged parts in the system?

I personally would not have enough money to replace my system components if something like a leak would to happen. This is why I air cool. but I cant help but think I could be a bit more interested if there was something like this

Ok. I'll install Windows fresh tomorrow on to another SSD and run some games from my regular boot drive. If I can play for a few hours with no issues then that must be it. I'll update when I know more.

Do you think I could also reset Windows?

One thing about console that I never could move away from is the controller.
That being said when I was in college games were way to expensive to buy for Xbox while simultaneously steam had games for very cheap. It was at this time that I  realized many games on steam would be compatible with the Xbox controller, this my interest in pcie gaming rekindled from when I was young.

Yea I really only need a motherboard ram and cpu.  And probably a cooler.

Probably going to try to make the FX system work a little bit longer

fastcar123 got a reaction from ARikozuM in wy cant cpu's run hotter
Another reason cpus and really all components cant run this hot is because as heat increases, resistance drops.
So by this logic, a hypothetical cpu running at 1.35V and drawing lets say 100A just for the sake of an example.
If this cpu has a resistance of 1Mohm this resistance will decrease as the cpu get warmer.
So perhaps for example sake again the cpu is running at 110c that resistance couldve dropped to maybe 500kohm.
At a voltage of 1.35V the current would effectively doubled to 200A which would be enough to kill the cpu.

fastcar123 reacted to SpaceGhostC2C in Is the AMD FX-8320 still worth it?
I know it is a common way to pose a question, but it's also useless: there is no way to answer whether something "is worth it" without defining "it"

An FX-8320 can game alright. It's not the best you can have, but then again, it never was anyway. So it all boils down to whether you want more performance than it has, and whether your other components are capable of taking advantage of an upgrade. All that's assuming the 8320 is your current CPU.

If you don't have it, but are thinking of buying it instead, then the question becomes how much you'd need to pay for it, and which kind of performance you target.

Regarding its gaming performance, I recommend a series of videos by Tech Deals at Youtube. By going through them you'll get a good idea of what it can and it can't do in different types of games, and paired with more common, less "benchmarkish" GPUs (he uses an OCed 8300, but OCed 8300 or Oced 8320 is all the same).

As unfortunate as it is. If you want to save the cpu you could try to disable 2 cores. It would make it a 6 core cpu but you could probably still use it.

Theres a chance though, that if your Bios disables 2 working cores. In which case you may be out of luck

Another thing to try is a clean OS install and an update chipset driver.
You could also update the bios as well.

fastcar123 got a reaction from luigi90210 in AMD FX CPUs are underrated and their proper overlcocking
here is my thoughts on the whole topic.

FX chips were decent. For them to be able to stand up to modern tasks after not being changed for 5 years is damn impressive. Are they better than intel chips? No. But they had their own niche that I felt they did a really good job at filling
Also to add to that I got a whole 1.6 Ghz overclock from my fx-6300 and a 1.2Ghz from my fx-8320e ( a processor meant for lower oc and tdp.)
that is for sure something I can't say about my ryzen chip.  It was beyond satisfying to see my 8320 running at 4.4Ghz from a 3.2 base.  Same goes for my fx-6300 running at 4.8 Ghz.
one more thing is that they handled "hyperthredded" (because I know these didn't have smt) workloads with 2 cores.

They were not the best by far. But they had their place. They were riddled with faults but they got the job done. I too have thought they were underrated.

My ryzen chip is miles better and even the current at the time intel chips did better. But the point is that fx was not a dud.
hopefully ryzen will carry on the competition we have now.

I don't have the AER fans but I do have the LED strips. The white on them is very well balanced. They are very obviously white. However this does not mean that you wont see the individual colors. Unless you go with a separate RGBW kit you wont be able to escape it. Still the Hue+ is a great buy and it 95% accurate on it coloring. It only seems to get weird when you program it for darker colors. I imagine the AER fans would be the same
