  1. The operating system for my car is called starlink. I wonder if Subaru copyrighted the name. If so SpaceX may have to deal with that.
  2. I actually haven't stored music on my PC in years. I have to stream everything. What is that? I've never heard it. Theyre all old and slow. I also cant verify how reliable they will be. I don't know that I would have a good conscience selling them off. Not a bad idea but the issue i have with this idea is my servers raid controller is dead and I live alone.
  3. The company I work for just recently gave me a whole bunch of extra storage devices. I want to put them to good use but I'm not sure how. My motherboard only has 4 sata headers and 1 m.2 slot. The M.2 is already filled along with 3 of 4 Sata ports. Here is what I got HDDs (All 2.5 inch 5400rpm) x1 500gb x2 320gb x1 200gb (Broken?) x4 160gb x1 120gb x1 100gb SSDs x3 32gb half (not 2.5 standard. Half of that) x1 128gb m.2 (running in a sata adapter) x1 128gb msata x1 64gb m.2 (AHCI) x5 64gb (one of which is SATAII) Anybody have some creative ideas?
  4. Yea that's what I've read. I was thinking of buying a splitter on Amazon but a good bit of people are saying that only one device works. Is there a powered splitter or something like a USB hub but for OBDII? I couldn't find such a device myself but I also would not know what that's called to enter into a search bar.
  5. For anyone that knows about can-bus and OBDII in modern vehicles, Hello! I am trying to find a way to connect a gauge system and a tuner chip to my car. I had this on my old car but the the chip tuner just used some wire taps to use the OBDII port. This left it open to plug in my ultragauge. But now both the ultragauge and the chip tuner have the male OBDII port on them. How can I run these both at the same time?
  6. I'm into so much stuff. Cars Computers Gaming Making circuitry Modding Blacksmithing Rc cars Guitar Piano Electricity Plants I feel like there's some more that I'm forgetting...
  7. I'm near the Charlotte area
  8. Did you boot the new rig without the graphics card at all?
  9. Could you not just make your files only veiwable to your personal account and then make a second user account on the PC? Then you could use vmc or TeamViewer Oram I way off here?
  10. One thing about console that I never could move away from is the controller. That being said when I was in college games were way to expensive to buy for Xbox while simultaneously steam had games for very cheap. It was at this time that I realized many games on steam would be compatible with the Xbox controller, this my interest in pcie gaming rekindled from when I was young.
  11. 3.8 and 2800 is unstable too. The cpu seems to overclock fine, but when i throw ram in too it gets finicky. I have tried 3.9 + 2800 3.8 + 2800 3.7 + 2800 None of these are stable enough to boot first try every time. If i do just ram or cpu but not both then its fine. I have heard about the voltage being an issue for these boards, but as I've said before i have to work with what Ive got.
  12. I definitely can pull off 2667 with 3.9. At this point i just want to find the best balance.
  13. i game more frequently. I can manage to get 3.95 on the CPU and 2800 ram but not simultaniously
  14. It is really weird. I want to know if fast ram or CPU oc is better. It's really hard to say
  15. I intend on doing something for the VRM as i know this board isn't the best for the 1700 Should I focus on the top side or the left side vrm heat sinks? I only have one remaining fan header I have installed a blower style fan in the corner of my case that does a decent job of getting all the heatsinks. It's so loud, I'd think I'm sitting next to a vacuum cleaner. But it works. I have set it to only go high as half power and to only come on if my CPU reaches 45C. I will want to replace this soon though. Update. The 3.7 And 2800 combo are just as unstable as before. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't
  16. It will post on 2667 ram with 3.9ghz CPU. Would that be the best balance? I'll give the 2800 and 3.7 a shot later tonight. Yes I am running the latest uefi from MSI. I crruently have a large CPU cooler that blows down towards the motherboard and have plans to place a blower style fan on the vrm heat sink. I have done this once by just holding it there and it helped These both posted. It's hard to see from just one or two posts. I will update as needed.
  17. I understand that. Unfortunately when I purchased this board months ago I was not aware of this issue. Now I don't really have the money to purchase the Asus prime x370 that I would rather have anyway. So I have to make do with what I've got.
  18. This has been question on my mind for a while. I am currently running a msi b350 tomahawk board, a Ryzen 7 1700 oc to 3.9GHz, and 16gb of Corsair vengeance lpx 3200mhz RAM (currently at 2800 @ 1.4V). This board is very inconsistent with it's posts. Sometimes it posts on the first try without skipping a beat. Other times it may not post at all. And still other times it might drop one or both of the overclocks. (By this I mean that in the bios it reads the right speeds but it widows it does not in several applications) On my ram I've loosened the timings to almost ridiculous levels of 18 18 18 18 40. Even still I can not for the life of me get it faster than 2800. 2933 is a definite post fail every time (except for that one time but it crashed still). That was also the second ram kit I've put in. Now here is the part I've found really weird. It seems to be ok with 2800 if the CPU is at stock speeds. Vice versa applies to the CPU. If I only overclock the CPU I'm fine. I've even tried doing 2800 ram at 1.45v 20 20 20 20 42 with the CPU at 3.5GHZ. this was ok for a while until one day it wouldn't post anymore. I've set all my primary, secondary, and tertiary timings to even numbers (because I've heard Ryzen likes even numbers). Even if everything boots just fine, I can never restart, sleep or hybernate because the board just hangs in a prepost state forever. Typically if I can get a successful post , everything is Rock solid from there. This is really only an issue for posting. I've learned not to buy an MSI board ever again. So here's my question. If I could only have one (oc ram or oc CPU) which one is the best well rounded solution? I do alot of multitasking as well as gaming on this computer. Thanks in advance. P.s. I am aware that this board and CPU are not the best match. I keep a close eye on my VRM temps and it seems to be ok but not great. I've placed a fan on the vrm heatsink and that really helps with temps. I have plans to to make that more permanent, but right now it isn't there.
  19. That is actually a really good idea. I searched all morning for these board but I could only find ram or ssd upgrades or drivers and manuals for this board. I couldn't even find them on ebay
  20. Recently, the company I work threw away several computers. The bulk of that stuff includes about 12 motherboards. I picked up all that stuff thinking I could find a use for it, but now I haven't got a clue what I'm going to do with that stuff. These motherboards are all gigabyte MSH61DK boards. These are a pretty odd form factor. They are all mini ITX sized but have no full size pcie slot and they also take DDR3 SODIMM sticks. They cannot be over clocked and they are equiped with a LGA1155 slot that can handle 2nd and 3rd gen desktop CPUs. They also require an external power supply with not way to put a standard PSU on it. They do however have a place for a backup battery on board. At first I thought I could make everyone in my family a mini ITX HTPC for Christmas, but the cost of CPUs and ram would bankrupt me. With the boards I got also all the battery stuff for about 7. I only have 2 IO shields. I have psus for all of them plus extra. I have periferal boards for all of them. I have no extra ram. I have only one 3rd gen core i3 sitting around. What is the world am I going to do with these? I figured they wouldn't be worth selling because they're so old and weird that only a niche audience would buy only just the board. What do you think I should do with these?
  21. I have actually seen this issue (the bsod not the ram issue) with computers that I work on at my work place. This particular window won't really accomplished much from what I've seen The bsod issue is most likely related to a failing storage medium. Its best to back up all your files and move over to a different storage. I don't know however what is causing the ram to show up funny like that. Because of this, I could be entirely wrong.
  22. Back in my day, we were lucky to have CPUs that ran even close to 5GHz.
  23. What brand of ssd? Do you use this mainly? What I mean by this is this the drive you save things to such as game save or documents?
