  1. I just completely wiped it with secure erase feature of my motherboard. Going to reinitialize it and install some games, see how it goes.
  2. here is the drive. Dont need to boot in safe mode as it always shows up again onces the issues subside. This happens just by waiting for a while after the problem starts. Has happened numerous times now.
  3. Every time this happens crystal disk does not show the drive. But after all programs using the disk are closed and sitting idle for a while, everything starts working fine again and crystal disk also shows the drive.
  4. For 2 weeks now, from time to time when playing games, half the programs on the pc become unresponsive, while the other half keeps working fine. Just now, I played path of exile and while playing, the game became unresponsive. It had trouble closing, but task manager also became extremely slow so it took a long time to close. Trying to restart the game, steam started freezing up while trying to launch the game. I also clicked on apex legends while steam wasnt responding. It kept saying launching for minutes, and then steam just closed or crashed. CrystalDisk also took a long time to start, and is not showing the drive that I suspect is failing. It's a 2tb kingstong nvme ssd of less than a year old. both PoE and Apex are installed on there. I only seem to have these problems when I play games from that disk for a while. What it looks like to me is every program that uses that drive becomes slow, like crystal disk and task manager check the drive, and the games are installed there. Meanwhile, my browser works just fine, and discord as well. These are installed on the c drive. I have made multiple posts about this before and I didnt really get a useful answer where people were suspecting other hardware for some reason. If you guys still think it's because of my gpu or something, do let me know. If you agree with me and suspect the SSD is the problem here, let me know. It hurts in the wallet but it looks like I will have to replace the ssd.
  5. Well, I feel stupid. It turns out my gpu was at base settings. It must have reverted to it at some point, I still have screenshots from the heavenbenchmarks I did testing the undervolt 2 years ago. At least this does mean that my undervolt didnt become unstable because it just didnt exist... At this point I put my money on the SSD being at fault. I dont know why it would slow down the rest of my computer but I guess there are some weird interactions I dont know about. If the problem persists I will be forced to replace the ssd... painful. Waste of money.
  6. Oh did you edit this comment later? I didn't see the pathetic part of your response the first time around. If you get this easily triggered I suggest taking meds.
  7. But why would my gpu settings suddenly be unstable? It has worked for 2 years perfectly. My own suspicion was that one of my drives were failing. The kingston drive could be the one because thusfar it only happened when a game installed on there was active. But why do other programs like task manager stop working properly as well then? that's not installed on the kingston obviously. Also, Crystaldisk is reporting no errors, though it failed to show the kingston drive once during the first time I used crystal disk during such an ''event''.
  8. Yeah well I don't really know what other info could be useful at all. Here is a screenshot of the victory screen in apex legends. Obviously it is not supposed to look like that, the word victory is in the wrong place, extremely low res, and everything else is just blue. But I still have 144fps as can be seen top left corner. As I said when this starts happening many other programs on my pc become unresponsive as well. My specs: rtx 3070 5800x3D main drive is 960 evo SSD from 2017 Almost all games are installed on a kingston nvme ssd of less than a year old. 16gb ram 3200mhz 750w psu gpu is undervolted with tiny overclock. Has been running great for about 2 years now (was second hand) almost all components are less than 2 years old, with exception of main drive. drivers are up to date. As I said I dont get a blue screen with an error code I can share or anything like that. The computer just basically starts malfunctioning and I am having a very hard time figuring out the cause.
  9. Recently, maybe since a few weeks, I have recurring problems with my computer. It always seems to involve video games. when the problem happens, textures stop loading properly (distorted/low res/invisible), audio glitches or goes missing. And my entire computer seems to slow down substantially, but strangely not everything. Task manager becomes super slow and can barely be used to close the game, but discord at that moment still seems to work fine although it stops loading all images including profile pictures. I can also still use the web browser but closing tabs makes the browser unresponsive. After a while of hard thinking my computer will finally manage to close the game down and the issues quickly subside afterwards. Strangely it does not happen all the time. For instance I tried out FC24 today and also played PoE which is insane with all the particle effects and objects it constantly loads in, and nothing crashed or had issues. Few hours later I play Apex and the problems I mentioned earlier started happening. I've had these issues happen with many games now though so it's not specific to one game. It has to be a driver or hardware problem would be my guess but there are no error reports or anything like that, the computer just starts struggling and that's the only indication something is wrong. What could this be guys? A dying gpu? Maybe a faulty SSD? Or something else entirely, a virus perhaps? Please help!
  10. Can you explain the windows media usb stick? Where do I buy it? Do I need to pay money at all? After all I already own windows 10 so I shouldnt need to buy again right?
  11. How do I back up? I know I can put stuff on a usb or something but, how do I back up all of windows? BIOS is latest. Can you explain why resetting CMOS could help? I rather not tear my pc apart until I know I need to do it, got clumsy hands.
  12. I'm typing this on my pc which may or may not be dying, I do not know. I am encountering an issue that makes my whole computer freeze up, as if it needs a long time to think about every action that I perform like opening or even closing a program, playing a game, or anything else. Right now it's stable for a moment so I am writing this. I downloaded crystal disk and it says that my main 7 year old SSD is good but its only 61%. It does not seem to be detecting my other 2tb SSD though, for some reason. All issues start with opening a program, games in this case, from that drive. My computer became unresponsive in the following moments: -first time was yesterday when installing the league of legends client. The client became unresponsive, tried task manager to close program, it didnt work or glitched out, had to force reboot. -Today, I tried to install Torchlight infinite on the same drive and it became unresponsive, followed by my whole pc becoming unresponsive requiring another reboot. -Then I played league of legends, which worked but in the second game I played the game started hanging for 10+ seconds straight, audio lagging far behind etc. I couldnt alt tab anymore and needed to force reboot again. -Then, after rebooting the pc was still unresponive and would not shut down or restart normally so another force reboot. -Then, I played the game out after it finally started but again with extreme lag and freezing. Right now, after the game, the client is still going through the process of closing the game and showing end of game stats, I can hear the sounds being played as if it's doing each step every 2 minutes or so where normally it happens instantly. This is what happened so far. Please help! Is this a faulty second drive? Is it my main drive? I dont know what to do. I cant lose my data! Edit: Why does crystal disk not detect or at least show my second SSD?
  13. My computer is completely lagging out. Just playing a simple game league of legends, the game starts hanging for 10+ seconds, cant stop the game, whole computer freezes. I restart, instantly freezes again. Is my drive dying or something? I had the same ssd since 2017 so could be. Anyway I can last minute save whats on this drive? PLEASE HELP QUICK!
  14. Never have issues with my pc. Recently I was installing the launcher for a game, when the program froze. Can happen, sometimes. I opened task manager to close the program, but task manager didnt load properly and started hanging as well. Then my browser suffered the same fate and slowly but surely I couldnt do anything anymore so I force rebooted. This happened yesterday. Today, same thing happened trying to install a different game. Again first the launcher stops responding, opening task manager was very slow and unresponsive, and then everything else as well. Tried restarting the pc via start menu but it just forever restarted, so had to force reboot again. Any idea what is causing this?
  15. Here, 5 minutes of idling. I reset the values and timers and instantly idled here for 5 minutes straight. PC sounded like it was about to take off to space, the fans are that loud. One thing about the clocks: 5800x3D goes up to 4500mhz boost clock, but I have NEVER seen mine go above 4450, even when temps are absolutely fine. So, idk Edit: I think it's my gpu actually, at least the fans. Every time its gets louder I see the gpu fan speed jump significantly. It stays at over 3000rpm where the cpu fan is showing 1200-1300 rpm. I'm assuming that's the cooler fan right?
  16. I'm still a bit of a layman with some of this stuff. Wish there was just a ''is it throttling? Yes/No'' in HWmonitor to be honest haha.
  17. Euh I'm not here to defend any claims. I just go off of what I read on the net. Temps can spike for a moment before fans kick in. Averages are well below 70c, though this is with alt tabbing from time to time which limits the frame rate to something like 30fps and brings the temps way down. I'll try to stand in an area where I hear the fans the most, and just idle there for a bit. See what temps do. The reason I think there is no throttling btw is because I get as much fps as I expect, comparing it to people with same hardware and settings. Unless they are all throttling either which I highly doubt, I take it that this means it's fine. Doesn't throttling cause decreased performance? I dont notice that at all
  18. Yeah I'm not throttling. My setup is performing as expected, when I compare it to benchmarks on youtube. And before you say anything I compare it to many benchmarks including Hardware unboxed, gamer nexus, and smaller channels. I'm pretty sure the data is accurate when they all agree. However, what temps do I need to look at here? CDD1 shows a whopping 97C at peak, but I'm not sure what CDD1 is. When we talk about throttling, which of these temps do I need to look at? Per core? Die?
  19. https://ncc.noctua.at/cpus/model/Ryzen-7-5800X3D-cpu-1597 according to Noctua's website it should do fine. Most games also dont run this hot, only warhammer 3 also goes over 80 in peak temps if I remember correctly. This game is just insanely demanding or something I guess?
  20. Had HWmonitor on during the few hours I played Starfield. Think I played about 3 hours or so. I know the game is hard on the computer but are these still acceptible temps? Edit: from left to right: current temps, lowest temps, highest temps, average temps
  21. I own a huge number of games on pc and consoles. Today, I was free of work and just felt like doing nothing. I decided to play games all day. Over the last 8 hours, I opened maybe 6 different games that I each played for 15 to 30 minutes. And a lot of dead time in between. I scroll through my gigantic list of games and I feel bored at the thought of playing any of them. I am having these types of days more and more and more. What is going on? I used to easily lose myself in games like Skyrim, or be super competitive in games like League of Legends, or play racing sims after watching Formula 1. I would play strategy games for hundreds of hours, horror games with the lights off, and I could do these things all day. But it seems to be gone. I still have some days where I can play a game for multiple hours, but these are growing increasingly rare. Am I becoming too ''old'' for games? I'm nearing 30. Did I spend so much time gaming that I've gotten all I can from them? I still spend most of my free time behind a computer, but I am very bored. And it's getting borderline depressing. But I can't seem to think of anything else to do, all I did for many years was game. Anyone else feel this way?
  22. Do you by change notice any big performance drops from time to time? I play on high with a 3070 and sometimes the fps drops to 1 digit. I am assuming it's a vram issue but I'm not sure.
