  1. I recently wired my house with cat5e cable and i want to have 7 of 12 cables hooked up currently. I only have 4 ports on my router. What switch should I purchase for this kind of set up? I was thinking of getting a 16 port netgear switch (FS116). I also want to get a Synology NAS 4bay in the near future for all my family's photos and videos in a central location with redundancy. My ISP isn't great at the time but fiber might be coming to my area in a couple years. Should I kinda plan for the future that way as well? Maybe get hardware ready for faster internet? Let me know what you think would be best. Thanks

  4. I just built my first computer. Ryzen 7 1700, Asus Prime X370 Pro, 500GB 960EVO, Vengence LPX DDR4 3000MHz, EVGA GTX 1060, and a EVGA 650GQ power supply. I bought windows 10 home on usb from Staples. I am able to get into my bios and I have 2 windows 10 install options in my boot priority as well as my 500gb SSD. I put both windows options before my SSD. But when I reboot it freezes with the Windows logo and the circle of dots. I have no idea what to do. Help please!

  6. Hey guys I'm building my first Ryzen PC and haven't picked ram or a graphics card yet. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/7KhHFd That's what I have and the ram in the list is what I'm debating on I'd like 2 16GB sticks if possible so later i can upgrade to 64GB. Idealy DDR4-3200. I dont want to get ram that wont work with my motherboard. Open to suggestions. Graphics card I'd like a 1070 but I think the 1060 would be more in my budget. Currently I have $600 left to work with I can save more butwould love to get this computer running.
  7. When are you planning to build this? Im wanting to do something very similar. Would love to hear how it turnes out. I'm not into 4k yet. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Neufeld490/saved/r6dXLk
  8. Just curious why you and Electronics Wizardy suggest the 7700k? I don't have experience with this but I've done lots of youtubing and I get the vibe that the extra 2 cores are very helpful with video editing.
  9. I will also be adding a monitor above the pc cost. But I'm thinking a 27" 2560x1440
  10. I'm wanting to build a decent futrue proof pc that will game well, surf the web, youtube, edit some video (my wedding footage 1080 and future home videos). I also enjoy playing with microsoft office and sketchup. This is what I'd like to build but is it overkill? Budget isnt set in stone but I'd spend up to $3000 Canadian.
