  1. I'm looking to build a cheap gaming PC for my little brother. I found a refurbished HP Prodesk 600 G1 sff on NewEgg that features an i5-4590, 8gb ddr3, 500gb hdd and a Windows 10 pro licence all for $340 CDN. Next, I want to add a GTX 1050, which would obviously require an upgrade from the included 240w power supply. My trouble comes because the motherboard takes a 6 pin power cable, rather than the standard 24-pin. Could I just use an adapter, or should I just get a cheap LGA 1150 mobo.
  2. I'm looking to build a cheap gaming PC for my brother. I found a cheap refurbished prebuilt on NewEgg: ( https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883286403&ignorebbr=1&_ga=2.48751398.1622981463.1499749136-2104013238.1495750954 ) and want to take out the i5-4590, 8gb ddr3, Hard drive, motherboard and Windows licence. Then add a 1050, Evga 450w psu and throw it in a mini atx case. My biggest problem is the HP motherboard, that only takes a 6 pin power connector. Can I just use an adaptor? I think for $544 CDN ($421 US) with a Windows 10 Pro licence, this would be great price to performance. Also, is there any other problems I could face?
  3. this doesn't seem right, its not like the cable would only be loose when it gets to low battery
  4. My laptop is an Asus X553M. I hate it but it gets the job done for doing school work and surfing the web. However, as of late I have been experiencing the screen flashing black once the battery gets low. As soon as it's plugged in it goes back to normal, and above 50% it works fine. The flashing makes the laptop pretty much unusable as the flashing happens basically anytime you scroll and gives me headaches. Is the problem in the panel, battery, motherboard, software or some other culprit. I would understand if it always flashed, but it only being when on battery at around 35-45% is what is most confusing. It has a TN panel if that means anything.
  5. The 2017 one has a TI, last years can only have the 960M
  6. My current Asus X553MA screen is messed up (and also trash) so I'm looking for a replacement. I'm strongly considering the Dell Inspiron Gaming but am having a tough time deciding between last years and this years models. http://www.dell.com/ca/p/inspiron-15-7559-laptop/pd?oc=ni157559_btsb_b5722e&model_id=inspiron-15-7559-laptop http://www.dell.com/ca/p/inspiron-15-7567-laptop/pd?oc=ni157567_btsb_s514e&model_id=inspiron-15-7567-laptop These configs are the two I like because both are currently on sale. Which do you guys think is the better value? I do some video editing and this will be my first foray into PC gaming. If the price seems high it may be in Canadian. (Don't say "Get a desktop)
  7. Is this prebuilt a good deal? It says it's 40% off plus a $75 in rewards points. The price is in Canadian Dollars. http://www.dell.com/ca/p/xps-8910-se-desktop/pd?oc=dxps8910seslv_btsb_h342e&model_id=xps-8910-se-desktop
  8. I don't care about form factor, however I would like a large monitor.
  9. nba 2k is really light tho, its gonna run at native 4k on the ps4 pro
  10. should have mentioned that, its about $1000 usd
  11. I'm looking to buy my first PC. I've been eyeing this one at Costco (I know its not a great store for computers but bare with me). Here is the link to it https://www.costco.ca/HP-Envy-750-439cb%2c-Bilingual-Desktop%2c-i7-6700.product.100317127.html . Is it a bad deal? I'd be mostly using it to do video editing and other homework and the most demanding game I would be playing would probably be NBA 2K. Also I don't already have a monitor so the included one is good.
