Aleks NE reacted to AlTech in Fortnite for Android might be a Timed Exclusive for Samsung Galaxy Note 9 upon release
"XDA Developers" claims Fornite for Android, which has not currently been released yet, might be a timed exclusive for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

According to XDA Developers, Samsung is planning to do this as a key piece of their marketing for the Galaxy Note 9. The timed exclusivity would allegedly be for just 1 Month.

From a Business perspective, unless Samsung is willing to pay Epic Games a ridiculous amount of money for this exclusivity, it doesn't make financial sense to go through with it.

Personally, I think that this timed exclusivity of any app or game is stupid as is stops legitimate potential customers from using the product and from potentially spending money on the product.

I think you will be good man! The CPU is still quite good and will probably work well with the GTX 1070ti. Sure, it might bottleneck a tiny bit in some games but you will be fine I think. If it would bother you then try to set a limit for the fps, maybe at 160 fps and it should be fixed!

    Have a great day!

Aleks NE reacted to Hunter259 in Core i9 Macbook Pro throttles so hard its SLOWER than last years i7 model.
First reported by David Lee and is quickly making its way across the internet with MacRumors now making it's own post; the Core i9 version of the 2018 refresh of the Macbook Pro is see throttling so hard that it is slower than even the Quad Core i7 of last years model. Macbook Pro's have had issues throttling in the past but this is the first time I've ever seen one have issues holding even the base clock speed of the chip. This is a 300/400 USD upgrade that seems to be completely worthless if the programs that you use can actually utilize the 6 cores of the Core i9. The new 2018 Macbook Pro 15" all come with 6 core i7's standard starting at 2.2GHz with a 2.6GHz option available before the upgrade to the i9.

Intel has launched their Coffee Lake Xeon E Entry level.  This E-2100 lineup replaces the Entry Level Xeon E3 v6 lineup.

The new Intel entry-level consists of quad core and six core CPUs, some of which have Hyper-Threading.

Honestly, I was hoping that the quad-core non-Hyper-Threaded CPUs would not be part of their lineup.

The $284 6 core 12 thread E-2136 seems pretty appealing.

give it some time, every "new Thing" needs some time Adjusting to it.
Doesn't mean the thing is bad, just that you're not used to it. Give it some time...

Its the same for me, whenever I didn't use one of the Controllers I have for a bit o time, it feels weird for a while. Its just the way humans are...

But if you know that you don't like different things, you can better deal with it and give yourself more time to adjust.

    ...on both consoles...
And its +10€ with AAA titles, sometimes you don't pay a console premium, depends on the Publisher...

Yeah, that's why I said that he should get the PC first, console is something for maybe eventually later if you want to play the games there are on...
Because you still have the PC for Discord/Mumble/Teamspeak for voice chat...

Aleks NE reacted to AlTech in Microsoft quietly announces Visual Studio 2019
Microsoft has quietly announced that they've started working on the next Visual Studio product, Visual Studio 2019.

This will be the next major version of Visual Studio and will be the successor of Visual Studio 2017.

There's no preview for it at this time and it's very very early days for VS2019 development. They're still planning VS2019 and also how they want to proceed with Visual Studio for Mac.

This is entirely understandable and reasonable considering how they are on two completely different code bases with VS for Mac being a modified Xamarin Studio for Mac and Visual Studio 2017 being a Win32 program like it's predecessor.

It is not known at this time if VS 2019 will be a Win32 program or a UWP program but I'd learn towards similar Win32 style program at least for this product.

So yeah, cool stuff although unfortunately there is no preview for it and we're not getting a preview for at least several months. I think the announcement of this was fairly pre-mature. We didn't know too much about VS 2017 until a few months before it came out.

Hopefully VS 2019 is more cross-platform and has better feature parity between PC and Mac versions as right now they are 2 completely different products with a few similarities and similar branding.

I'm still happy they have the Free Community Tier of VS since it enables Students, OSS devs and small teams to use VS without selling their soul to the devil costing an arm and a leg .

Update: More information reveals that over 150k projects have since moved to GL following GH MS purchase

    S: Motherboard
GitLabs are having a wonderful day today, first they confirmed that over the past week over 50'000 projects ditched GitHub(I'll refer to them as Gh)  and they changed over to GitLab (I'll refer to them as GL) and they have also confirmed a partnership agreement with Apple with their Xcode 10.
GitLab also confirmed that it's website is booming with over 13'400 views per minute.
While I don't think GH will lose a night of sleep of losing customers, it'll certainly sting a little and will definitely please investors of GL.

Aleks NE reacted to AlTech in Apple plans to kill off 2010 and 2011 Mac Support with macOS 10.14 Mojave*
Apple has announced macOS 10.14 Mojave at WWDC 2018 which is coming out later this fall.

iMore reports that macOS 10.14 will drop support for almost all 2010 and all 2011 Macs.

The notable exception being the 2010 Mac Pro.

So yeah, 2010 and 2011 MacBooKs, MacBook Airs and MacBookPros and iMacs will not receive macOS 10.14.

    The requirements are as follows:

As it is right now, if you want to run macOS 10.14 Mojave when it comes out, you'll need a 2012 Mac or in some cases a lot newer.

So yeah, hopefully this means prices of used Macs will come down quite a bit since only the 2012 or newer models should be sought after. It's also kind of chilling and scary that Apple has dropped both 2010 and 2011 Macs from support considering Apple's past track record of supporting macs. This could be a sign Apple is trying to increase the rate at which they are killing off support for devices.

    Edit:
Apparently the reasoning behind dropping support for those devices is lack of Metal support.

Don't know if I can agree with you on that point:
https://gizmodo.com/the-guy-who-invented-those-annoying-password-rules-now-1797643987 Not just any password will do  Passwords can also be had through exploits, so there's that too. A decent biometric verification/authentication method will usually be way more difficult to crack than a text-based verification method without some form of 2FA at the very least. Just use U2F if you're actually concerned  I don't trust smartphone security (alone) too much anyway.

Did you even read the article? That's almost exactly what it suggested. And yes, I've heard of a dictionary attack. That's why I'm against randomised passwords. Just take the passphrase method (that they mentioned) and salt it a bit. Add various elements to increase the difficulty.

    Hi all,
I've got a few suggestions for improving the LTT classifieds section.

The suggestions are to add various rules or in 1 case modify an existing rule to improve the general experience of dealing with LTT Classifieds.

For Sale or Want To Trade posts should contain a description of the Warranty Status for each item being sold (E.g. No Manufacturer Warranty,  3 Months of Manufacturer Warranty remaining in the EU) etc. Users creating For Sale or Want To Trade posts must be able and willing to accept and process returns and refunds within 14 days of a sale/trade (or longer if the law in the seller's country requires it) OR at their discretion offer a replacement unit of said item of an equivalent quality free of charge/"Gratuis"/Gratis. Users creating For Sale or Want To Trade posts must guarantee that the item they are selling or exchanging shall function as intended for at least 30 days from the sale or exchange of the item. Users must have a minimum of 300 posts on the forum before posting a classified thread of any type. There are to be no sales of product boxes. This is not eBay. Users creating For Sale posts must disclose when an item is sold and for how much it was bought. If a seller has multiple units of the same item in stock, he/she must disclose this.
I think my suggestions will help improve the LTT classifieds experience .

    Thanks.
