  1. I'm a software developer myself, and I find the most important things to me in a computer are: 8GB of ram -> I usually have 5-6 different programs open that can range from Virtual Machines to IDE's or just a web browser with 3847384738478348734 tabs open... Some reasonably fast processor, personally I prefer a quad-core i7 with a high clock speed... My reasonings here are as follows: High clock speed -> Since the programming I do is mainly scientific calculations and usually require a Hemi... Hyperthreading -> This is extremely nice for the multi-threaded programs I write often, however you may not really need this... Finally, a SSD is usually pretty nice just because of the overall system responsiveness. Since you are just getting into programming I would suggest the following for your system: CPU - i5 K series processor (can be anything like a 2500K, 3570K, 4670K) -> this will give the raw horsepower you will need for some more hardcore computational programming that C++ can really do well. RAM - 8GB -> I wouldn't go less here... it really is nice to have for productivity... not so much for the programs you write but instead for the tools you use to write them... 2+ Monitors -> Once you get 2+ monitors you will never use anything less for programming... it saves so much time not having to swap between windows, programs, etc... Hope this helps... Also, as a side note... I am pretty well versed in many different programming languages so if you get stuck or need some tips just hit me up!
  2. Yeah, I don't own any of these headphones the information I gave was directly from the Beyerdynamic website... So take it with a grain of salt lol...
  3. As far as I can tell the DT 770,880,990 Pro are all part of the same line with the differentiating factor between them being that: 770 -> Closed style 880 -> Semi-open style 990 -> Fully-open style Seems like for what you were looking for the 770s would be what you want as the 990s should leak sound. Please someone correct me if I am mistaken...
  4. However, the cable is removable as far as i know... so yeah that doesn't seem like a big issue to me for only 100$ : / Let me know if the cable mod turns out nice too 0.o
  5. I just ordered a pair and they should be here in 2 days... I'll let you know what I think of them also if you want... obviously this isn't helpful though if you are looking to make a purchase before the holidays
  6. Will do... I had checked out some other reviews on youtube about them and since Rock is the main genre I usually listen to (although I listen to literally everything) I'm pretty optimistic... Also, the build quality looks amazing...
  7. Well luckily many people on here give really helpful suggestions... I just ordered a pair of CHC Silverado's, a pair of Sennheiser HD 558's, and a Fiio e10... I feel like those three items will work out very well...
  8. Well I can, since the CHC's are around 100$ and my budget is around 200$... I do think it would be nice to have both an open and closed pair also
  9. Yeah actually I just noticed the Sennheiser HD 558's are on sale also for like 129$... I'm now leaning toward the CHC's and the 558's... 230$ for both seems pretty legit : / I'm also not really a fan of the way the M50's look
  10. Do you know if either of these sets of headphones require a burn-in?
  11. I have been looking into them but the headphones that I seem to find the best reviews of with them are all open style headphones.
  12. Well if that is the case I may have to go with the CHC now and then the M50's in a week or two 0.o
  13. Hey guys, I'm looking for some suggestions for some nice closed style headphones (I work in an office environment), I will be using them to listen to pretty much every genre of music imaginable... so they probably need to be pretty versatile. Also, they must be usable with mobile devices so reasonably lower impedance is required. I will mainly be using them with a Fiio e10 DAC but will probably end up using them directly from my phone or various mp3 players. Finaly, they must be super comfortable over ear headphones... the more cushioning the better! Thanks!
  14. C++ doesn't need garbage collection, it has destructors... whenever a class loses its reference in c++ it automatically has its destructor called and the memory is freed up...
  15. Lol I just noticed you answered both of my posts on this forum and on the tech syndicate forum
  16. Cool, thnx for the suggestions. I was thinking about the custom one pros, but wasn't sure whether or not an impedance that low would pair well with the Fiio E10. Also I've never used anything from audio technica so I will have to look into those further 0.o
  17. I'm looking at purchasing a Fiio E10 because the audio in my laptop that I use for school and at work is complete garbage... but I am also in the market for some new headphones... If anyone could leave some recommendations as to what headphones pair well with the Fiio E10 that would be fantastic. Please Note: The headphones must be a closed design because I am a software developer and work in an office environment so I do not want to disturb others. Also, budget < 200$
  18. Just trying to find people's opinions as to what the best all around uATX motherboard is for the 1150 socket... Some obvious contenders are: ASUS Z87 Gryphon ASUS Maximus VI Gene In your opinion what is the most feature rich, most reliable, best priced, or just best all around 1150 uATX motherboard?
  19. So that is a no to both the Fiio10 and the Soundcard?
  20. Currently in the market for some, probably should add that to the original post and get some recommendations there also, I was interested in the Sennheiser HD 558s but haven't really looked around much or read/watched any reviews yet. Edit: Just saw the 598's and those would match my rig better so maybe those
  21. Well I'm kind of picky with the overall quality of my music, I just don't know much about audio hardware...
  22. So I don't really know a whole lot about sound cards and such so I was wondering if I could get some insight into what would be the best option for me. I was looking at purchasing a sound card from ASUS, specifically the Xonar Essence STX. My question is: Would I be better off with something like a Fiio E10, the STX, or should I use both? I'm mainly wanting a better than on-board audio solution for music while I'm programming or gaming. Also call quality (i.e. Skype) is very important. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Also, any recommendations for some reasonably priced (100-300$) headphones would be fantastic!
