  1. To be honest, I was thinking of running a dock of some sort with any one of them. Sorry, forgot to mention that No high refresh rate gaming, more CPU bound horsepower
  2. Sounds weird, so they call, but no number is assigned to them? If it's "No Caller ID" - How to Block No Caller ID Calls on an iPhone (alphr.com) If a number is popping through, tap on the "i" button, scroll down and there is a "Block Number" Let us know if that's what you're looking for?
  3. If it's remote parsec, a lot of the latency will be with the internet. there's not a whole lot you can do, unless you get maybe Fibre? For stable parsec, cabled connection all the way. You could try on your router (if it allows it) creating a second 5GHZ channel just for your machine. and if they both support it, force it to use Wi-Fi 6 only. That's one way to increase speed and decrease latency from your device to the WI-Fi router. I have this setup for a wireless VR link, and it's noticebly better
  4. Hi everyone! Want to get people's opinions. I'm looking at getting a new laptop to replace a laptop and desktop combo (I can't be doing with managing 2 machines) I'm an impatient IT Guy, so I'm looking for something that's super responsive, run 2 x 1440p screes, maybe can handle one test virtual machine, has decent battery life, but is portable(ish) - essentially the ideal laptop LOL Currently looking at the Asus Flow X13. As I'll use it for work, it needs a camera for video calls. Now I'm unsure whether it's worth waiting, and paying the extra £500 ($650 approx.) for the newer version Ryzen 6000 that's due to land April 1st (Confirmed by a supplier today) I don't really want to pay that amount more, if it's only a few percent more on performance gains. I did think about the new G14, but it's a similar problem, the current G14 pricing is just so good! but lacks in the camera department, and the price increase is really something I want to avoid if it's not worth it. Did think about maybe an XPS 13 and get a thunderbolt dock, but similar story, whether I wait for 12th gen... but then the XPS13 plus looks weird, not liking the look of the keyboard. There might be a machine I just haven't thought about, so happy to take your guys advice
  5. Thanks for this, I think the main thing is just seeing whether: 1. A dedicated ap right next to us was going to be better 2. If you had experience, which router you’d recommend - happy to pay extra if it’s noticeably better. I’ll give it a go and will report back.
  6. Hi there, I don't believe there's any drives out on the market that utilise PCIe 5.0 - All PCI 4.0 drives would simply what the drive is compatible for, no extra performance would be given. Unsure what you might be doing on your machine, but PCI 4.0 SSDs are plenty fast enough, and I would likely stick with just one large maybe 980 pro?
  7. Sounds weird for sure. Does it happen on videos locally stored on your computer Also does it happen on another web browser (If you're using Chrome, try Edge, or Firefox?)
  8. Quite a bit of info here It sounds like the main differences here are the CPU and MoBo? But Depending on what games you play, I would say go with the 12th gen - It's newer and from the bechmarks, it's a pretty good performer. I would highly recommend probably getting a bigger NVMe drive if you can. Firstly 128GB gets eaten up with Windows and some apps. also the smaller capacities have a lower rated speed (Commonly anyway).
  9. Hi Everyone, Wanting to get some advice for a router specifically for Oculus Air Link. I currently have a nighthawk X6S AC4000 router, but it's in the room next to my PC, and can't be moved. Latency and general stability of oculus air link is a bit rubbish. Was looking at maybe getting a dedicated router and use it as a Wi-Fi 6 AP. Unsure whether anyone's had experience of this setup, and/or can recommend a good router for it. Looking at the TP-LINK AX1500, seems to be one of the cheapest WiFi 6 capable ones. Thanks!
  10. I thought that, apparently the 980 are gen 3 and the 980 pro's are gen 4
  11. I think that's what I'm worried about. My issue is I'm used to a desktop i7, and a intel 750 SSD that is still crazy fast. Going to a laptop I use when out and about for work, it just seems really slow.
  12. Could be a few things here Sounds like a hardware check over is needed though for sure! Check cables, try different ones if you have them (maybe order temporary replacements on amazon and return when you've finished) if you have a different type of connector (HDMI, DisplayPort, even VGA) test it out and see if you still get them. Just a case of running through each one to see if any of it stops that from happening
  13. if another GPU is working fine, I would immediately check power cables, if you have seperate 12v rails on your power supply (check your manual) try plugging in the PCIe power from different rails, just in case it's being overloaded? Simple things you could try is use a different display port on the GPU, different cable, different monitor (if you have any of these) If you have windows on of your disks, try botting to it, give it a few minutes, and see if windows picks up GPU with at least the basic display adapter driver... sometimes (i've seen anyway) the motherboard doesn't output from the bios, but windows then does... it's weird, but always worth trying Another one is try another PCIe port on the MoBo
  14. Although don't have much experience with these, Samsung Dex seems to be literally the only "Dockable" solution that is still being worked on. You could probably grab yourself an S20 FE for a pretty good price, and lets be honest. speed improvements in recent generations are not really a concern IMO, unless you are a serious power user.
  15. Hi everyone! Looking for the fastest M.2 PCIe gen 3 ssd on the market. Now when I mean "Fastest" Read and write speeds aren't exactly what I'm looking for, I'm really looking for response times etc. as it's going to be used as the main OS drive I have a laptop that has an 8th gen i5, 16GB ddr4 RAM, then I popped a corsair MP510 ssd in a couple years ago, and have never been happy with boot times and/or app loading times, all just seems pretty meh. Now, I've just ordered a Samsung 980 on Amazon, as that seems to be the newest and (because samsung) probably the best. But wanted to see what you guys would recommend. I did look at the Intel 670p, but as it's QLC, i'm concerned about reliability. really only needing 500GB absolutely maximum, but have noticed the faster speeds only can be had with the 1TB+ models Thanks!
