I thought we all knew, by now, 2 things not to do.

    1. Joke about blowing stuff up in and around airports and government buildings
    2. Use public Wi-Fi

    This muppet failed on both.

Trains. Just use trains. Whole idea was to prevent High speed rail from getting funding so they had to "Show" something.

I do feel if Tesla wasn't run by the internet's favourite punching bag nobody would really care about these stories. A security update for a phone is never called a "recall", y'know.

Merkey reacted to LAwLz in Raspberry PI 5 Finally released
This looks like a massive improvement in terms of performance.
I think it's a shame that the price has gone up so much though. The target price for the B models has always been 35 dollars, and then some higher-end models for more. Now it starts at 60 dollars?
I doubt some future model with less RAM would drop the price all the way down to 35 dollars either.

While I can appreciate the higher performance, in my mind the Raspberry Pi has always been about being super cheap and "good enough" for various projects. I've always though of the Pi as slow but inexpensive, and other manufacturers and products has filled other niches. With this, the Pi is suddenly fast and expensive.

Merkey reacted to Drazil100 in Madison reveals experiences working at LMG
I don't expect LMG to discuss Madison, but I am expecting a main channel video on everything else. Their last video was review bombed heavily and people are still talking about all of this. Like with when they got hacked, they NEED to make their next video a legitimately good video and they NEED to address all of this. Failing to do so could tank their business at this point. That's probably the reason there wasn't a video today.

People who care about quality items. They're not the only company to make expensive screwdrivers.
You clearly have no grasp of how much it actually costs to bring products to market, especially in small batches.
Perhaps you should educate yourself a little more before spouting disinformation.

Merkey reacted to RejZoR in "Unpatchable" exploit found in Tesla cars, allowing jailbreaking of internal computer
Subscription features in cars need to die. One thing is paying for a service that requires company time and is extra cost for them, like running servers for remote features. Fair enough, if they offer them for decades even to old cars, fair enough. But charging people monthly for heated seats and other similar bullshit, then no. Absolutely not and I hope more get hacked to a level they'll abandon this dumb idea. Which we all know it'll never happen and they'll just utilize even more draconian DRM measures, but hope is there.

Merkey reacted to nolderoos in WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, and TYPO3 Challenge EU's Cyber Resilience Act
    Summary
Some pretty big news from the world of open-source software. WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, and TYPO3, the big four of the FOSS CMS world, have teamed up to send an open letter to EU legislators. They're worried about the EU's Proposed Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and how it could mess with the future of open-source platforms. They also held a public webinar/conference earlier today.

Here is a link to their open letter.

    Quotes
"The letter points out that, in its current form, the proposed regulations run the risk of reducing software security and undermining the EU’s core aims and values."
"The primary contention is that the proposed CRA’s “commercial activity” definitions are unclear and problematic. The current non-commercial exemption in the proposed regulations fails to consider the intricate network of relationships underpinning FOSS and its roles in the digital economy."

    My thoughts
This is a pretty big deal. Open-source software is a huge part of the digital economy, and these platforms are worried that the new regulations could put a damper on things. The fact that they're concerned about the future of platforms like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, and TYPO3 is something we should all be paying attention to. They're calling for a chat with the legislators, which I think is a great move. Let's hope it leads to some positive changes. I'm am very afraid that this will lead to open source contributors leaving the platforms they are contributing to, some on twitter are afraid this might lead to them being personally accountable.

This was a great video showing the concepts that Framework is working on and looks like it might benefit even other brands.

But I am seriously disappointed with the title and thumbnail choice. My interpretation of the title was - 'I done goofed supporting Framework, they are going down, I am ditching them'.

Like seriously, with content as interesting as here, why use a shitty title? I realize it has to do with views and reach, but a more appropriate title could've been selected.

*Sigh* I had such high hopes for the Ecotank series, going so far to recommend them to people as I'm the defaco IT guy for many friends, family, and acquaintences. They really were a more affordable solution. I guess there really are no good printer companies unless you splurge on a laser printer.
