It seems my current PSU is getting me into windows, thanks for the replies everyone! I am actually quite happy with the stock performance of the CPU for now, I think only OC will be ram so I'm not worried about power draw.

Aight, see you in an hour if it works/doesnt work

I just got a Ryzen 5800X and a new mobo, and my current PSU (Supernova G3 650W) does not have an extra CPU header to satisfy this new mobo's demands (It's an 8 + 4 pin CPU header). PC part picker estimates my new wattage will be ~ 410W, and I do intend to do an amateur overclock. Right now the two PSUs I'm looking at are on sale. G+ 650W and MSI 750W. Do I a) go with the G+, b) go with the MSI PSU (+100W, but more expensive), or c) there's magic I can do with my existing cables. I should mention that I am using both VGA cables to power a 2070 in case some magic could be done there.

I just ran heaven for about 5 minutes and got the card to the mid to high 60s and as soon as it hit 70% on the fan speed then it started making the noise. But it is definitely not coil whine, something is definitely rubbing. I am going to RMA it later today I guess.

I just this week got a 1660ti, and the first day I had it it ran smooth with no issues. However the next morning the right fan started making a buzzing sound, like there was a piece of paper being put into the fan. Is this bad? Should I RMA the card? My temps don't exceed the mid 70s anyways.

overclocking Unstable OC, pls help. 1800x
HypeTrains replied to HypeTrains's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
so I just finished testing, literally everything other than stock crashes. Is this a mobo issue or could I have hurt my processor? -

nvm it crashed on 3rd time. I'm trying 1.4v now. EDIT: crashed second time on 1.4v 3800Mhz -
overclocking Unstable OC, pls help. 1800x
HypeTrains replied to HypeTrains's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I boosted it to 1.3975 and so far on 3800mhz it's doing good. I'm gonna keep experimenting. Edit: I have done 2 successful benchmarks on that volt&clock! yay! -
overclocking Unstable OC, pls help. 1800x
HypeTrains posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I set my voltage to 1.375 and the clock to 3900. (also happens at 3800). I'll run cinebench once, then I'll run it again and my screen goes black and my peripherals disconnect. I hit the reset button when this happens. I am trying a higher voltage but it still crashes like this so far. I don't want to go to 1.4volts. I am pretty sure it's not thermal crashing because I don't get any throttling. Also, after the first crash, the crash will happen early in the benchmark every time. The reason I am writing this is because my pc crashed out of nowhere while I was chatting on discord. I have tried 1.4v on 3800Mhz and it's still crashing. UPDATE: anything other than stock is crashing in cinebench. -
Need to move Windows from my hard drive to SSD
HypeTrains replied to travismoritz's topic in Storage Devices
Check all the documents thay came with your ssd to see if it has a product key for a drive cloning software. Windows should notice that the rest of your hardware is the same and update it's liscense. -
Booting also takes longer than normal Here's my build https://pcpartpicker.com/user/HypeTrains/saved/73g2RB This happened aftersetting xmp profile to 2 instead of auto so I could manually set ram to 3000mhz but after turning it off everything was fine. When I was in bios the voltage was in red text when I went into xmp profile 2. Task manager says im at 2400Mhz no matter what settings I had. Notice the red txt Ram box said it could run at 1.2~1.4 v

High end(ish) pc heavily underperforming and missing ram?
HypeTrains replied to AH4's topic in Troubleshooting
Do you have the latest nvidia drivers? The rest of your mobo drivers? I honestly feel for you man nothing sucks more than an under-performing pc. Also check to see your nvidia control panel look for any settings that could be lagging your gpu like anti-aliasing set to default 8x or something. -
I don't max out on RAM I've watched it before. I get close but I never max out. Even with OBS replay buffer and MOSS running

Rainbow benchmark is inaccurate. and I can't tell for other games bc I play no modern titles and I get them all to run at 60 anyways. BF4 I get 120ish with max FOV and automatic settings. Insurgency I get easily 120+ IDK how high it really is. Islands of Nyne I get 60 fps 90% of the time when in 75% resolution with 90 FOV.

ryzen 1800x and 8gb DDR4 2400 RAM. generic CRUCIAL(brand) SSD. 1050Ti has no power connectors and is from EVGA. Stock clocks on all listed items. I would OC the GPU if only my pc wouldn't BSOD. (BSOD from OC happened with Intel Hxxx board and my AB350 board).

They are always up to date

I've been playing Rainbow Six: Siege for a long time, but only 1 year previous from now did I get a computer that could run it at 1080p at 60 fps... or so I thought. I've been looking for answers every so often on why my 1050 Ti is not hitting 60fps with everything on low except shadows (medium so they are on at all), and an 85 fov. I am constantly dropping to 50 fps, and half the time when I get in gunfights I will drop to 45+ fps. it's unplayable sometimes. I can't overclock bc my pc will BSOD. pls help I can't afford a new gpu. No cpu bottlnecking, I have an 1800x. I have 8gb of RAM and they never max out

Im going to get a Ryzen 1800x, should I get a cpu fan or use stock? Im not getting water cooling, also what would be a good fan

I have the drivers installed but my troubleshooting says Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration.

Any 60-120GB SSD recommendations
HypeTrains replied to HypeTrains's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I have a 1tb hdd I was mainly going to use the SSD for booting -
I've been using an hdd on the various laptops I've used in my short life. Now that I'm building my own gaming rig I want to make windows not take an hour to boot. I also want EA games like battlefield to not take forever to load, though cs:go and rainbow 6 I can boot on a hard drive just fine. Since I don't want much on the SSD what is a good 60-120 GB SAD around $50-60 US? It needs to last at least 2 years. I'm sorry I'm not very educated in SSDs.
