Looking for some advice on fan setup for my new build. I want to maintain positive pressure within the case w.r.t ambient, while enabling high air flow within the case to cool down the GPU. I currently have 2x stock case fans (Phanteks 120mm), a 280mm Kraken X62 AIO cooler (comes with 2x SP 140mm fans), and 2x Corsair AF140 LED fans, making a total of 5 fans that I need to position within the case. Keep in mind that the AIO cooler and its fans can only be mounted in the front due to clearance issues, which brings down the number of combinations that I am left with. I might also consider getting 2 additional SP 140mm fans to run a Push-Pull config on the AIO cooler to get more air across the rad (due to the small size of intake vents on the case, I have some concerns about air supply). Having the two fans at the top in opposing air flow directions will essentially negate each other, so I do not have that as a potential option. I also do not want to use the rear exhaust fan as an intake as it does not have an air filter. This leaves me with the following options, which I've listed in the form of a poll. Please vote or leave a comment if you have a better setup configuration in mind. Cheers! Build link: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/rahulrajeev1990/saved/BrH8dC

Air or AIO cooler? Suggestions? I was originally looking at the Noctua NH-D15, but that thing is a hideous monstrosity, I don't think it will fit in either of my case choices.

@Daveeede@mok @deXxterlab97 @TheNuzziNuzz @Dawson Wehage @nerdslayer1 what are your thoughts?

I have a few more follow-up questions: Quad channel memory or dual (dual is cheaper)? Suggestions for a good budget tempered glass case? I'm torn between s340 elite and p400s glass edition cases Real world difference in performance/boot times/app load times between 950 pro/850 evo/mx300 SSD's? For my requirements, is 6800K the way to go? Could the cheaper and newer 7700K with a cheaper Z270 board offer same or better performance? I don't plan to OC the processor a whole lot, maybe to a stable 4.0/4.2 GHz at the most for now. Does this justify the $160 for a kraken x62?

Are the market availability dates and prices for Ryzen out yet? I don't think I want to wait for over a month...

I picked the Asrock Taichi because of the 2nd m.2 slot for a future upgrade and the onboard wifi. Also, wouldn't you agree that I should leverage quad channel memory if I have a choice? That's why I pick 4x8 GB sticks.

Thanks Mok and Daveeeede! Any real world performance drop on the mx300? I currently have a small 850 evo msata drive on my laptop and I've gotten used to it!

Any recommendations in a similar price range? I'm looking for a 4/5/6 TB 7200RPM drive. Apart from the sometimes high noise, I read that that X300 series drives are great value for money from Toshiba.

Hello Forum, Need some critiquing on a build that I'm working on, I have most of it finalized, but I am open to suggestions and recommendations that could make it better and/or help save some money. I am making this primarily for photo and video editing, with some high-end gaming on the side. I also plan to run some engineering design/modelling based applications at home at a later point, so need that flexibility. I tend to run a lot of applications simultaneously, so multi-tasking is key! And yes, Chrome is one of then! *sigh* Lastly, I have a lot of media storage needs, I hate deleting files! I know, I have a problem! I currently have an X99 build to align with more processor and multi-tasking requirements than just raw single core performance. Here is the PCPartPicker build list: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/rahulrajeev1990/saved/pdcMpg (Please see attached image for some part specific comments) 1. Budget & Location USA, Indiana. Budget is about $2000 USD 2. Aim Photo/Video Editing, Occasional Gaming, Multi-tasking, Engineering Computer Simulation/Modelling (future endeavor) 3. Monitors Ideally looking to run two 1440p monitors, with a future upgrade to 4K 4. Peripherals Already have the basics, might need to upgrade to a better mouse and keyboard 5. Why are you upgrading? Currently using a dying i7 Ivy Bridge laptop that is not cutting it anymore Apologies for the long post! What are you thoughts? Can I improve upon this without incurring any additional costs? Can I save a few bucks by downsizing on any of these? Please let me know.
