It really depends on a few things: how experienced you are within a Linux environment, the other type of hardware you have(Video card, memory, hard drive capacity, etc.), and what you plan on using it for.

I would recommend installing Ubuntu 14.04; anything short of a toaster would be able to run it, but make sure to double check the minimum requirements (taken from here):
700 MHz processor (about Intel Celeron or better) 512 MiB RAM (system memory) 5 GB of hard-drive space (or USB stick, memory card or external drive but see LiveCD for an alternative approach) VGA capable of 1024x768 screen resolution Either a CD/DVD drive or a USB port for the installer media
Take note that this is an older version of ubuntu, so you may be forced to use outdated or obsolete software, and things may not work properly if you're intending to use this for strenuous periods of time.

However, If you plan on just using a desktop to just prepare a windows installation, I would recommend booting live rather than installing a completely new operating system.

OpenGL has really progressed over the past few years, especially with SteamOS and Valve streamlining it. We've been seeing more and more games come compatible on Linux, albeit some ports don't utilize OpenGL well.

I personally do not run Windows at all. I abandoned ship after Windows 8.1 crapped out on me 2 years ago, and have been running Ubuntu ever since, and I've gotta say, I'm glad I made the switch. The only downside is that about 30% of my steam library is unavailable, but most of these games are really old and outdated. The new(-ish) games such as Saints Row and CS:GO run pretty well.

I am really impressed with Valve, and how optimized their games are on Linux. I see no difference between CS:GO operating on Windows and it operating on Linux on the same settings.

I'm unaware of how well Ryzen handles passthrough, but this blog post explains the basics of setting up GPU passthrough for gaming.

It may be. I imagine merch.linustechtips.com is supposed to redirect to there, since it is advertised in the WAN show.

I downloaded the original version of the driver, not the updates, and im only seeing one driver; RTL8192CE. I think your readme shows several drivers because you downloaded the one of the updates.
According to Debian it's included in the kernel

    ... So weak ...

Hm -- Well, I'm not a father (yet) so perhaps input from the parents in the crowd (also looking at Linus) would be better.

However, with the world going to shit quicker than "Idiocracy" predicted; I'd be more inclined to GPS track kids to a certain age, there is a time to cut the umbilical cord; and looking for older people suffering from a myriad of diseases that cause memory loss, this would be interesting for retirement homes & older people in general.

You want to know where little Sally is at, especially if you lose her at a public event (or Walmart); but if Sally is now 21 and at a party with lots of alcohol, you *shouldn't* be tracking your young-adult (cue over-protective parents, inc. mine)

However, should it fall into the wrong hands, such as a predator, this could prove very harmful and really cause issues down the line -- or to not even track a child but let's say a spouse, or your car, or some other valuable target.

There may be a few reasons:
The Desktop Environment you're using does not utilize a feature which was causing graphical issues on Windows The graphics driver used in Linux Mint's distribution may be more compatible than the one used on Windows Your graphics driver was not up to date on Windows Which graphics card do you have?

You may need to boot into Safe Mode if you can. On Windows 10, Shift+Click the Restart option to reboot into Safe Mode.

document.getElementsByTagName() does not return an HTMLElement, but rather an array of elements. You would need to iterate through the list to modify the style of each element:

for(h in document.getElementsByTagName("header")) { h.style.top = ...; } if you just want to edit one specific element, I would recommend providing an ID attribute to that element to select it.
