I wholeheartedly do not recommend buying premiering product in general. In your specific mention of the PG329Q, I just happened to have run through two of those in 2 weeks. Phenomenal monitor for its price but its HDR has a brightness dipping issue(there is another thread discussing it). As of right now, I am one of the only two person who left review on this monitor on Newegg.

TL;DR: unless it is a high profile product like the ampere cards where LTT would have a video about it sitting on when the embargo lifts, decent reviews won't come until long after the product has permeated the market. And yeah, they generally come in written form.

Good reviews take time to make, probably they are still in the works while these low effort jobs are ready.

If you feel you experience a BN, up the graphics to 1440p and you will benefit from it.

for some of the cards they were boosting above 2000 by default ie at stock with no oc. and people expected AiBs to not cheap out on the power delivery i guess which is one of the main causes of the problem

Grihm reacted to Moonzy in How many versions are yet to be released in the 3080 line?
personally think the variance of the die's capability is higher than expected, and the solution is to apply firmware to not boost as high by default.
that's probably the route they're going with

that said, 2000 vs 2100mhz, no one can tell when playing a game anyways, and it's still a good card
but having it crash out of the box is not a great experience.

afaik, all cards are affected by the crash, so i would highly advise against buying a card now until it's fully solved
unless you want to deal with it, then sure

This thread is a disaster, kind of like the launch for these cards. I do agree the 3080 should of been 12gb out of the gate. The issue I have with more Vram is this
3080 10gb is $699 for the cheapest models, the strix is supposed to be $850
A 3080 20gb card is gonna be how much, $1000? That makes the strix card $1,150? We aren't talking about a 3 to 6gb increase, it's 10 more GB, that shit won't be cheap.

Regardless of the 20gb models coming I could care less about that. I don't need 20gb of Vram, I don't play at 4k. Neither does most of the people that game on PC. Hell most people are still at 1080p and 10gb is gonna be overkill at that resolution. IDK how many of you talk to randoms that you get into games with but I've been doing that for a long time and most of the people that play on PC have what I would consider a terrible rig. As long as it runs fortnite and call of duty that's more then good enough for most people.

Many of us come in here talking crazy and act like we're not the minority when it comes to PC gamers. I game on a 1440p 144hz monitor, I mainly play siege, dead by daylight, older fallout games and call of duty. With my setup Ryzen 3700x, 32gb ram and rtx 3080 everything runs great.  At 1080p these same games would damn near run on a potato at playable framerates.

If you want to return your Rtx 3080 cards because they aren't all MLCC chips then go for it. Those chips are more prone to cracking, I'm a firm believer that many people complaining about it watched a youtube video and jump on the bandwagon. Like the same people that hate on certain brand but never owned them. People complain when they aren't happy with something, you hardly hear from happy users. I have no complaints with my $700 GIgabyte card, it's been solid so far.

These topics are very lost in translation. They serve as much use as the rage Nvidia is getting because someone didnt get a card on day 1.

First: If you would have posted this with graphs, benchmarks and reports of silicon quality´s etc, that would be one thing. This however is literally one step above " My buddy Jeff said ".

Second: Do you know how a card uses it´s memory, and how allocation works? If not, check that up before claiming that the cards are made with insufficient memory.

Third: Don´t blow things out of proportions. Some cards have been crashing, not as you say " all other RTX 3080 cards seem to be consistently crashing at 2000Mhz+ core clock speed. "

Lastly: What on earth are you on about with the card is not enough? What do you use your card for?

covid sure drove up my 2070 super's 2nd hand price, higher than my purchasing price.

sooo.... is turning down graphic settings not an option anymore or am i missing something?
don't give me the BS about "i paid for it", you paid for the GPU, not for the promise that it can run everything at max settings

you're right, that's why the 3090 has 24gb of vram

Your computer allocates the memory you have, but you don´t actually use it to 100%.

Nope i did not get one, and i was not planning to get one until after the 3090 and 70 is out.
I can share in " a " hype, but not " the " hype that is ongoing now, because it´s highly damaging.

People are stressing out, people are upset, people are debating about corporate lies etc. This is a card launch, as we have had before.
What we also have had before are release issues, and therefore i will wait a bit to see it all flows well.

I am ready to get myself a card, but i also did extensive research to the best of my knowledge to make sure
1: My computer can handle it
2: My monitor can handle it
3: My needs are in line with the cost of the card

Personally, i think the release went as planned. A smaller amount of cards, around a million or so to set the stage for day one. 5 min after or so they where all sold out, and now, people are upping the brand globally without Nvidia´s need to do anything. It´s just another launch, and i hope people get a bit more relaxed and focused before spending money on something they perhaps cant run at optimal settings.

If you don´t need to go for 1440, i suspect you would enjoy the screen very much. It´s among the best value for what one get´s in this range i feel.
144 Hz, 34", Curved, HDR and a very appealing bezel. Nothing clumpy or overkill flashy with dragonstickers or other crap. Sleek and nice 😃
