Terrible to hear, thoughts to all the LTT crew and Tyler's family.
Off topic I know but I went through a lot of issues a few years ago, and the daily LTT videos and updates from all the guys there was one of the only things that gave me something to smile about everyday without fail. I hope that Tyler's family and everyone at LMG knows that they make a bigger difference than they may think to a lot of people!

Linus just tweeted that unfortunately we lost Tyler. Tyler was an amazing person, according to what most people said. And from what I saw on camera I agree. I'm really sorry for his loss. If there is anything the tech community can do to help his family, Im sure we'll be able to. May he rest in peace.🤍🤍

I only have one question to ask:
Who exactly is surprised that a fully online game has this problem?

Trippik reacted to vanished in Google Stadia in desperate need of promised "negative latency" mode
Yeah this was tested on the source's gigabit corporate connection.  If that's not enough I'd not expect many home users to be able to do better.  Certainly bandwidth and latency are different things but I expect they aren't running off a satellite.

Reviews are starting to pop up about Google's new service, and they're not good: https://www.washingtonpost.com/video-games/reviews/unplayable-times-magical-others-stadias-dream-is-still-clouds/

Here we can see a game tested using Google Stadia on PC and I dare anyone to call this playable:

I measured the first jump at ~650 ms.

Mobile is not much better (though the article disagrees for some reason).  See for yourself:

I measured this at 270 ms in photoshop.  Yes it's better, but still completely unusable.

As they say, it's early days and there is opportunity to improve, but it just goes to show this is not a miracle product and still suffers from all the pitfalls of game streaming, most notably at this time, latency.

Well, i dont need to pay that.
It is in line with their thin client desktops price wise (and others like HP) so why not? Remember this is mainly aimed at offices and such.
They do not only buy it for the looks/convenience but also for the support.

Trippik reacted to SenKa in How does ltt do so much video work
Because if they didn't, every time they had to download footage from YT then reupload it to YT it would be compression hellscape.

Really what it comes down to is Linus is paying for the massive amounts of bulk storage because he can be assured whenever they need to pull footage, it will be of the quality it was shot in. This makes the editors lives much easier, as they can spend less time cleaning up a compressed mess to be somewhat presentable, and it also makes their jobs faster having the source footage. Thats more time to spend editing, creating better content, and making LMG a little richer. Never believe everything you read on the internet, but supposedly LMG is worth ~15 million. Time is money and all that.

Intel will have to rely on their strong industry partnerships and longterm relationships with Dell, HP etc to  minimize the server market share change that happens in the next two years. They have to make sure that the big vendors do not offer or promote too many AMD models.

AMD has a superior product now, how it sells depends on whether the vendors and system integraters recommend them to customers.

Today AMD has lifted the embargo (by the looks of things) on the Zen 2 EPYC chips and we're lucky enough that Anandtech has a deep dive on the MASSIVE, industry leading, 64 core chips.

I'm truly excited to see what these are capable of in a deployed environment and it's encouraging to see the design wins that AMD has claimed in the last 1-2 years with their Zen architecture. It'll be interesting to see how many monolithic CPUs Intel can glue together to combat this.

KeepScreenOn might be a temporary solution.  That will prevent the screen from turning off regardless of what app is on the foreground.
It's never a good idea to manipulate a touchscreen while driving though.  Your eyes are off the road much too long.

For actual work like on a farm for the hours they work, doubt it. But that's much less common, I find it amusing how many 'work vehicles' are purchased for everything other than the designed purpose of the vehicle.

How often do electric cars break though? If you isolate problems to the motor, it's orders of magnitude simples than an ICE, and doesn't need oil. They last forever. These trucks are huge anyway, so I think to fit a small diesel or petrol range extender that is used much less will solve any range problems.

Anyway, this is just a prototype. It's not worth hating on Ford now for a car that's essentially a tech demo.

Very cool imo. For people who actually use pickups for work/offroading electric makes tons of sense unless you're in the middle of nowhere with no power generation. Much easier to drive, (hopefully) lower centre of gravity and less money to keep it moving.

That said, I see a ton of people driving pickups who've never used them for what a pickup is designed for. I wonder what that market will think of an electric F-150, since they're generally the people who think bigger is better
