@Jumper118 When did you get your new score on the 1366 socket? I was aiming to beat Wezlax soon but then I saw that you upped the bar!

This will always be a double edge sword type conversation. Personally I think there is nothing wrong in giving your child a phone when they go to school. It comes down to proper parenting to teach your kid not to use his/her smartphone when it is not necessary. But as with video games, there will always be parents who think that its smartphone's fault for distracting their kid in school.

Those and LGA1366 server mobos are plentiful and cheap, as are large amounts of ECC registered DDR3.

I posted some OC guides way back, take a look if you have the time. In them, the OP discusses 'BCLK holes' where stability just sort of disappears.

There were some tips: try odd BCLK (eg, 191, 195, etc), and also if nothing works, try going much higher. Eg, if you have issues getting stable at 1.35V at 180-190, put in 205 at the same voltage and see what it'll do.

Important: do NOT do this with your CPU multiplier maxed out, otherwise you'll just chase your tail. To figure out what your max stable BCLK is, you need to dial down your multi and memory to focus on only one set of knobs. Once you have a solid BCLK (most boards should do 200-210 at 1.35-1.4), then start adding cpu multiplier and uncore/memory mult back in.

This is the slow steady and pedantic method, but it worked for me (215 @ 1.32). If you still can't go higher after doing all that, then try another chip.

(also, I'm referring to QPI voltage, not CPU Vcore voltage here. you may need to add Vcore while doing this as well, or leave at 1.3V and see how high it'll go with a low CPU mult)

Spent ~10 minutes tuning settings in my BIOS. Hit a conservative 4.25GHz (x25 Multiplier, 170 BCLK) at 1.32V on my X5675. Will overclock higher when I have time.

Hi, in the past couple of months I've started playing GTA Online on PC again after being absent for a few years.

I have some friends to play with but I would like to expand upon that group and do CEO/MC business stuff. I own a couple of crate warehouses and an import/export vehicle warehouse in GTAO as well as 2 MC businesses.

I also own a facility in the game and wouldn't mind doing more Doomsday Heists replays

Finding people to help with CEO or MC stuff can be difficult because admittedly the pay is very bad. This is completely outside of my control so the way I handle this with the people I do play with is we'll help do work for someone and then we'll all help a different person in the group and rotate so that we all make good money.

I am at a somewhat high level (around 170) but I'm willing to play with and help out lower level players.

My timezone is GMT although I can usually comfortably play with people in CST.

I play multiple times per week in the evenings or nights as well as sometimes during the day on weekends.

They should perform pretty damn well, better than they did when the SR-2 was new because apparently modern stuff works much better with dual CPUs. Tech Yes City has a video or three on his SR-2 build and it's performance, I think he may have used 5690s though, but OCed them as well:

Yeah he used X5690s, they're sometimes a slightly higher bin (and higher stock clocks) than an X5675, but IIRC they usually OC about the same, IDK if @Ground or anyone has binned them to see if they OC better on average. I do know @WhisperingKnickers runs dual 5690s in his rig and hasn't had any issues with gaming AFAIK.

Almost done building my X58 rig. Just need a graphics card (it'll most likely be a STRIX GTX 770).

Also, I'm having a ton of trouble getting the motherboard aligned with the case standoffs when the I/O plate is installed. Hence, it's not installed atm.

NoxiousOdor reacted to Zando_ in General Intel HEDT Xeon/i7 Discussion
^^^. Ryzen will perform a bit better too but keep in mind you'll need new RAM with that, and a Xeon + good air cooler (used to run my X5675 at 4.5Ghz on a Gammax 400 with acceptable temps so you don't need a massively OP cooler so long as you keep voltage under 1.45) may be cheaper than mobo + CPU + RAM.

Also if you like tinkering then X58 has another advantage there, OCing on Ryzen is considerably more boring than X58. Pretty much boop in some settings, no matter what you do most can't make it past 4.3Ghz without LN2 and massive voltages. Whereas X58 you can push and tweak a lot more, I find it pretty fun even if it does get frustrating sometimes. The satisfaction of completing a cinebench and AIDA 64 run with a good OC is worth it though.

    NoxiousOdor reacted to Zando_ in Rtx 2060 + i7 980x @4ghz = bottleneck?
It'll bottleneck a bit, but I run my X5670 (6c/12t 32nm X58 Xeon, they OC better than the 45nm i7s for the most part) at 4.2GHz with a 1080 Ti (1080p, fps locked to 60 since I need stable frametimes, hope to upgrade to a 1440p ultrawide at some point to give the GPU more to do), Anthem and Assassin's Creed Odyssey are the only games so far it won't push a solid 60fps on, but on those the frametimes are super steady. I'll notice drops in Odyssey since it'll go down to 35-40 in cities, but Anthem has dropped to 40-50 and I didn't even notice (until I turned on the overlay to see how my fps was), since again, stable frametimes.

Whatever you get in terms of motherboard I would shoot towards getting a 5675 if there are any in your area. It is about as good as you are going to get. The 5690 is similar and runs at slightly higher base clock speeds but has a much higher tdp. The 5675 is the best available for x58 imo.

I am currently running two of the 5690 and while I am very happy with them, if I were to go back in time I would tell myself to go with the 5675 instead if for no other reason than less power draw and heat.

i'm someone, who prefers wired headphones BIG TIME over any wireless solution.
And i think, no headphone jack is not that big of a deal. I have that 3.5mm Adapter from my Oneplus 6t on my headphones, so it's just a slightly longer cable to plug in.

Quality wise zero issues, with somewhat higher quality in-ears~.

Btw: I would prefer the Oled screen of the Pixel 2 XL (even with a slight color shift) over any LCD screen.

Human senses "get used" to anything. If you have a slight blue tint for example, and use that screen every day, your Eyes will adapt to that, and think this is "normal". You will NOT notice anything anymore, unless you compare it to anything else.

Everyone can check this out too, simply use a Night mode / Blue filter or something for a few Days. First, you will be like "damn, that is SO yellowish wtf", after a few days you won't notice. You disable that, and you will be like "holy shit, that is SO BLUE right now". Untill you get used again.

Short: Pixel 2 XL Display > Pocophone F1 Display.

Also, keep in Mind: Pixel 2 XL will continue to get Updates untill October 2020~. Android 10, and Android 11 WILL be available. But shortly after Android 11, there is no guarantee anymore for future updates - which is okay i guess. You will be able to use it for the next 3 years without problems.

X58 Classified 4-Way now working with a Westmere-EP 6 core (W3670). Had to solder two sets of pins together since mine is a V1.0, but now I can repaste the chipset heatsink since I had to remove that, then put it all back together and try some overclocking with disgusting voltages if temps will allow. In a week or two I hope to have a watercooling loop on the CPU (360mm slim rad, Watercool Heatkiller IV block) so I should have a heck ton of thermal headroom. For now I'll use a Cryorig H5 Universal since it's the biggest finstack I have that works on LGA1366.
