My new case is on the southern border of Washington, less than 300 miles to go!

Next I need to decide on soft or hardline tubing and get my fittings

If you go for plain black EK tubing and chrome fittings it looks really nice, if you're going clear I'd advise hardline.

I think to save some money and time I might go for the black tubing. It will be easier and things should still be flashy enough with the case lights

It does look really nice as well, especially if you do clean runs. It's what I did for Easton's build, the one I made as a Christmas gift.

I can second this, I've used ek-zmt almost exclusively, only reason I'm considering upping the ante to glass is foe those sweet

As you know I very much wanted glass so if you do end up using it you better post pictures!

Also, when you get tour build up and running @done12many2 can induct you into the watercooled HEDT masterace.

Overclockable 12c/24t makes even me a little bit jealous.

I might have to do glass just to compete with other builds. There is a lot of temptation to go the extra mile "just because"

The problem is that I don't know entirely how I want to do the loop and in this case it might be a pain in the butt to do glass

You know, now that i think about the only truly comparable cpu for an sr-2 with dual xeons running at 4.5ghz+ came out this gen with x299's 7920x and x399's 1620x.  Those were the first overclockable 12 cores (ever?) Other than a custom ws xeon that's never been seen in the wild (x99's 1689 v3)

It's too bad true enthusiast gear like the super record series is dead, though I understand why with a 600 2010 USD MSRP. Plus another couple grand in cpus.

It is on its way back this is a dual socket overclock-able board that asus was making and Linus has one but as far as I know he hasn't made a video about it yet

I emailed LMG to see if they wanted to borrow the sr-2 and feature the two boards together as a comparison but they haven't gotten back to me

From what I gather they are super busy much of the time so I don't really blame them

Oh fuq asus sage/ws boards are made of dreams and enthusiast tears.  They made a dual chip bclk ocable 2011 v3 board as well

Whenever I decide to retire my current board I want to get the best overclock-able dual socket board I can afford at that time. I want to keep the theme of using dual socket boards. I'm guessing it will be one of the asus boards

Probably your only option, though buying the sage you linked would be insane.  I think the point of entry on the cpus is like 4k USD right now :o

What I might do is just wait until the new fancy stuff is on the edge of being dated kind of like I did with my current stuff. What I have is old but still more than enough for what I need. I got a lot of it pretty cheap due to the fact that it is slightly dated

Probably a good idea, server exons become dirt cheap once they've been cycled out.  The board will probably stay about the same though.
