  • Biography
A very good friend and a funny guy, but i often tend to get drunk. PTSD from '05 in IRAQ, from my pre-SDF days. Originally a part of the Japan Self-Defense Forces Iraq Reconstruction and Support Group from 2007-12-19 up until the last forces left, the JASDF, in 2008-12, but moved to tank warfare in '13. My PTSD goes on like this: one of my friends, an older one, Akihiko Saito, was abducted from a convoy he was in. The convoy members were killed, and his execution was filmed and released on video. I almost went insane, and had to be drugged with Prozac. In mid to late 2012, I applied for transfer to the Northern Army, to the 7th Division. I was assigned to the 72nd Tank Regiment on Type 90 MBTs. The squadron I was assigned to had a very early production Hitomaru-shiki (Type 10) which I took command of. And because these bastards have the German-style swinging hatch, not the trap-door hatch like on the kyu-maru-shiki (Type 90), in maneuvering training, I had my head out of the hatch and looking rearwards with the turret rotated to the rear because the other kyu-marus were left behind. The driver stopped the tank, and I gave him the order to reverse to where the other tank were waiting. Because these new tanks have a CVT type called HMT (Hydraulic Mechanical Transmission), they have the same speed both forwards and backwards. And because i forgot to lock the hatch, upon acceleration, the hatch struck right where the back of the neck and the back of the head join, impacting against the cerebellum and the spine behind it. Knocked out. For the entirety of 2013, I sat between life and death on a hospital bed in Tokyo Medical University Hospital only moving my eyes, mouth and that's it. The doctors were able to recover the functionality of the cerebellum and also make sure I wasn't going to be paralyzed from neck-down. I found refuge in the LTT and NCIX videos Linus, then Linus and Luke, then Linus, Luke and Edzel put out on YouTube. And now, 3 years later, I decided to join Floatplane to support the content creator(s) that helped me get through (almost) one entire year in which I wasn't sure whether I'd be able to live a normal life anymore. Thanks again Linus, and to the random person who (might) not read this long-ass biography.

  1. GPU probably desoldered itself or there are some cold joints in the balls. Nothing you can do besides getting a desktop to play games. Laptops are not designed to game for long periods of time.
  2. MIne does have OCP and UVP on the 12v rail. Tested by identifying the individual 12V conductors at the PSU modular interface and using a digital load to overload the 12V rail to 240VA as per IEC 60950-1. And the PSU immediately shut down, not frying itself. Can't say no about that. I did test these PSU's with "specialised equipment" and as far as ripple frequency goes, the newer Corsair CX or the Seasonic FOCUS have better ripple, but not by a whole lot. Voltage regulation, yeah. Of course. With my favourite D&V Electronics VRT-10 from the laboratories at Tokyo University, from which I am an alumni. Of course, all companies have sold crap before, but I found the jackpot in this unit from Seasonic which is better built than others. Yeah, OK, it is ancient, but so is earth and nobody complains about it kappa. And to make one thing clear, I am no fanboy of either Seasonic, Corsair, EVGA, etc. I just take what is best withing a price range. And one thing I despise about it is the cables. Man they're bad. But easy to mod. Very easy infact. Especially the 24-pin T H I C C cable. No flat here. srsly Seasonic? smh.
  3. What protections? Are you kidding me? Even if it is "old and dirt", the fact that it is still around, it means that customers are happy about it, with no further design changes needed. I've had an M12ii for over 6 months in my current build and it runs like a dream. Before i had some corsair, thermaltake, cooler master and evga PSUs and all of them went wrong in under 5 months of my workflow. The seasonic was the only one which passed the 6 month mark and isn't broken down because of shit caps, blown trannies, charred circuits or literally on fire.
  4. I see. Even though, a hefty tower cooler has a bigger chance of snapping off than a liquid one. Just think about the weight. As far as the form factor, i see. No problems then. I might as well go out and say to not cheap out on the PSU because if it goes down, it can and will take down things with it, like the moterboard, RAM, HDD/SSD, etc. I bought a Seasonic M12II-620W PSU for an i7 2600k, 16gigs of ram, a GTX 760TI, an SSD, an HDD, 2 AIO liquid coolers, and their fans, and crammed everything inside a Focus G form Fractal Design. The PSU costed more than the case. But i don't want something to die because i cheaped out on the most important component.
  5. I'd swap that Thermaltake PSU for a Seasonic one, and go with an NZXT case. That is my personal opinion, and you may follow it or not. Now looking at it, why go Mini ITX? Mind reasoning? +if you go with a small case, choose an NZXT or Corsair liquid cooler for that CPU. Especially in a small form factor case where a tower cooler might not be the best choice.
  6. I might be coming to LTX this year. But damn flights from Japan are expensive AF. ¥176,247 for HND-LAX-YVR and return YVR-HND. Why the hell do the ANA bastards not have direct inbound flight to YVR and have to spend almost 3 bloody hours in LAX? And if I can come, I will be damn sure to delid the hell out of the ticket.
  7. Hehe. Same here. I can understand German to a certain degree. As a Japanese-British-Romanian person which can speak Japanese, Romanian, English (Ameri-British), French and a little bit of German and so little Russian, you have my sympathy. Why did you decide to learn Jap out of all the languages?
  8. The price is in the RGB. The plastic itself has a value of 10 bucks i guess, but the added bling from the rgb has 90% of the value. Geez, I wouldn't want to be one of those idiots who bought that thing. And now i am pretty sure that Linus would buy it. Who's with me? And one more thing. Just read the description. Pure gold. And there's more.

  10. The thing that i most like from your review is that 2560x1440 screen and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801. Now i actualy own an LG phone, L7 and i'd like a replacement for it. Dunno, just sayin' .
  11. I dont think so, but i could be wrong. I shall now wait for mine to arrive in 3 days and then see.
  12. Just heard about this a day before Linus, and taught about buying a couple of them for home and work. That was the plan. But last night i got a bit drunk and ordered 30 of the http://www.ubnt.com/unifi#apac while i was drunk. Now comment below your impressions on the stupid thing my fckin brain has done.
  13. @all MAC is way overpriced. PC you can buy for as little as a 50$ for a small media pc. MAC or infact APPLE is overpriced.
