ianspy1 got a reaction from Krivas23 in Need help with fastbootd
Hi I am really struggeling here ... Everytime I try to flash system it ends with
    writing 'system_b' 2/3...
    FAILED (remote: Operation not permitted)

my bootloader is unlocked and I am in fastbootd.

    I so far tried:
    - other USB cables
    - other ROM´s
    - factory wiping
    - flashing stock image again (which does work in both fastboot and fastbootd)
    - reflashing recovery with stock one
    - relocking and unlocking
    - booting in to fastbootd via command and buttons
    - diffrent minimal adb and fastboot versions

anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Not necessarily. I've never really had an issue with paste not covering the entire CPU when I use the pea method. There's enough force between the cooler and the CPU to spread the paste out pretty well.

I've done pea sized dots, spread, multiple lines and dots (threadripper) and rice grain sized dots (laptops) and I've never seen a system have issues because of paste application.
For the crazy LN2 OC stuff, it might matter, but for regular gamer/surfing Joe, it's not a big deal.

Seems like workstation/rendering system ... not necessarily high core count cpu, but you get 12 dimm slots, allowing up to 192 GB of memory and you get 2 full size pci-e x16 slots for a main video card (quadro, radeon) and potentially a tesla / opencl accelerator  and you also have a pci-x slot, in which you could plug a 10gbps card if you want to.

Such a shame you bought low end crap memory though and just 8GB in a single channel config. This cripples Ryzen CPUs.

Make sure all components run their stock speeds and voltages and retest.
Also run Memtest86+ overnight, don't use the Windows memory test, put memtest86+ on a bootable USB and let it test for a good few hours.

If that is the case, I understand. From the video it was impossible to get the information that they were all actually sound tested and that the sound was in fact similar.
From the video I got the info that more then half of them were DQ because James just did not like the "feel" of them.

Maybe the proper way would be to give each category, each point some weight, different weights depending on importance..
I think you'd agree not having a "go to previous track button" would have less weight than pretty much anything else.
Right from the start, at 1:00 I see James saying "they feel super cheap" (they cost 30ish dollars, duh) and throws them away ... didn't even check sound quality or anything...
Then at 2:10 one is disqualified because the charging thing is hard to carry in pocket - who cares if the batteries last 6-8 hours or long enough to charge over night and have the headphones last the day?

Would be great to actually have a BLIND test with 2-3 people at LTT and have them give points for various categories.

ianspy1 reacted to williamcll in They said this would be easy... - 8K 60FPS GAMING!!
I think the issue is active convertors are buggy and the non-active cables sharp sent immediately tells the the card exactly what to do since recent GPUs can pass HDMI signals through a displayport.

For some reason AMD changed how eyefinity works recently and it's become a pain to set up an 8k config just running 4 inputs(with VSR) out of my RX 580.

There was a time in the early 2010's when the only computer I had was a microsoft surface pro 1,  then I upgraded to the pro 3.  I did everything on it, including games.  It was a very compromised experience from a pure gaming standpoint.   However, it got the job done well enough for the games I played at the time (mostly strategy games from the Total War series.  3D real time battles with 1000's of 3D soldiers on screen.)

Any 2 in 1 bought in the last few years should actually play most older or less demanding games just fine especially without super high graphics settings.

Plus if it has a stylus there is NOTHING better for taking notes or doing homework.  Which is the main thigh you will be doing in college.  College is not like high school... don't expect spoon feeding.

    So desktop or laptop:

If you must have a more serious gaming computer in college Laptop.

I had a desktop and a laptop at one point in college.  Moving from dorm room to dorm room to apartment to house with that thing was an ordeal.   However, at that time the CRT monitor was  as heavy as everything else I owned combined.

Also having a gaming laptop might be acceptable IF you major in a subject that requires a very powerful computer and will benefit from the hardware.

ianspy1 reacted to CMtzPercussion in Gaming laptop or gaming desktop for college?
During my internship my final semester of college, I had bought an MSI GS63 Stealth - I love that laptop to death, but it was NOT a good idea for doing my big girl stuff. Heavy, battery life was always a struggle when I wasn't at a desk with an outlet, the urge to play Overwatch instead of teach the kids was a real one, etc... For just a few hundred bucks more I built a great system that can handle triple A's, streaming and anything else without a hitch. I did so after I graduated, but I definitely should've gone the build-it-myself route while I was in college. Would've been less of a distraction and also would've attracted less people staring at the RGB, lol. 1K can get you something good, but maybe just stick to the PS4 and to your 2in1 until you can up the budget a little more? I'm not sure if your 1K includes peripherals for the desktop or not but if so, I might wait.
