  1. So my gf has a main gaming computer and a quite small almost NUC sized pc by her bed for drawing with a Wacom tablet. Recently she's been wanting to play baulders gate 3 from her bed so I suggested simply streaming it through steam no problem. Except it flat out doesn't work, we're able to click 'CONNECT' but it fails immediately The drawing computer has 8-16gb ram on a single stick, a 5th gen i5 full sized desktop cpu, and an ethernet connection, and no dedicated gpu of course. Is there some minimum requirement the drawing computer may not be meeting that I'm not aware of?? I've also tried moonlight but the computers refused to see each other even though they're both hard wired into the router. Parsec is my next idea but we ran out of time tonight
  2. I'm on the hunt for a unicorn of a set-top box, something with essentially all the same features of an Nvidia shield but can also play 4k bluray discs I've thought of using an itx pc for the job but I'm unsure of the best software/os solution to go with if I go down that road, let alone how I would go about using a remote for it I'd love to hear any suggestions from you guys
  3. Decently sure this doesn't break the rules, if so my bad and I'll happily remove this I'd like to put out a small bounty for a fully configured batocera image, no games loaded onto it, just the emulators fully setup and configured ready to go My plan is to use this as a master image I can use to flash to drives and have them ready to go immediately without any tinkering If you are interested feel free to dm me, just keep in mind it's a pretty small bounty
  4. Can anyone point me to a comprehensive tutorial/guide on how to install unleashx onto an original xbox?? The one I have had already been modded and setup by my father years ago but because of my lack of understanding I plugged the drive into my pc in order to load games onto it and ended up essentially bricking that drive. When trying to look around for tutorials most of what i find has an assumed knowledge base for how to do most of this modding which i simply don't have. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated
  5. SOLVED: The clock on my bios was wrong, manually setting it fixed everything
  6. So this is likely a product of my own ignorance but truenas scale won't sync the applications catalog no matter what i try. Looking around at other forums people have been saying that its a DNS related issue but i have no issue pinging 8.8.8.8 from CLI. I've been using truenas scale for about a year now and it wasn't until i swapped the motherboard recently that these issues appeared so i tried adding a PCI NIC card and routing traffic through it instead but this didn't help either. Failed to sync OFFICIAL catalog: [EFAULT] Failed to clone 'https://github.com/truenas/charts.git' repository at '/mnt/Hermes/ix-applications/catalogs/github_com_truenas_charts_git_master' destination: Cmd('git') failed due to: exit code(128) cmdline: git clone -v https://github.com/truenas/charts.git /mnt/Hermes/ix-applications/catalogs/github_com_truenas_charts_git_master stderr: 'Cloning into '/mnt/Hermes/ix-applications/catalogs/github_com_truenas_charts_git_master'... fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/truenas/charts.git/': server certificate verification failed. CAfile: none CRLfile: none ' 2022-08-07 12:56:09 (America/Los_Angeles) Here's the error that keeps popping up, unfortunately i don't really know what im looking at so can someone help translate
  7. Looking for a second opinion on this I've been doing research on cheaper DAP's and I'm looking for key features (Physical buttons, micro sd slot, usb C, and Bluetooth) so far this seems to be my unicorn (Xduoo X3ii) but I don't want to pull the trigger without seeing everything that might be out there, if you guys have any suggestions that would be great My budget is only 150 sadly
  8. I've been looking around for a while now for a used storage server case but they're all far outside of my price range, should I just look for a normal tower case instead?? I currently have 8 drives in my nas running sort of open air in a diy drive bay thing I made with some wood
  9. SOLVED I have an i7 7700k that I'm passing on to my wife, problem is I can't find an itx motherboard for it. https://www.amazon.com/SilverStone-Technology-Factor-Computer-Mini-ITX/dp/B07T7TFQMK/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=itx+case+pink&qid=1608863142&sr=8-5 This is the case she has set her heart on, our budget is 140 max, please help me find anything that can work
  10. I'm looking at buying a new open air PC case because I love the looks and ease that comes with one but the one I have is not very stable. My current one is held together by alen wrench screws and I hate it. https://www.amazon.com/Computer-Motherboard-Vertical-Overclocking-Dissipation/dp/B07ZGJP6ZF/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=open+air+pc+case&qid=1597703499&sr=8-3 I'm looking for something of a similar layout but more sturdy. Preferably something with front facing USBs. The goal is to be as compact as possible with one panel that everything mounts to but a back panel is also fine. My motherboard is ATX and I'd prefer a case profile not much bigger than that to minimize desk space consumption. I don't mind assembly but proper screws and bolts in stead of pressure based stuff. I do plan on adding more things to the PCI ports. This is not for test bench use cases I'm just in to the style. Any help is appreciated as I have been totally unable to find something of the right size. 11. Best advise i could've hoped for, thanks man
  12. Currently running a NAS on an old i7 970 and im looking to upgrade it to more modern hardware that could handle more ram instead of the 24gb this one is limited to. There's also the option of getting an old xeon for the same socket like an x5670. Not sure which path i should go with, and if i should go with new hardware which cpu would be the best bang for the buck considering the application.
  13. I have a Windows 10 VM successfully running on my freenas system but I can't assign it more than two CPU cores. I understand it's a limitation of Windows VM's and how they perceive individual cores and entire cpu sockets. My issue is that I know there is a way to add more but I have no idea how because I'm so unfamiliar with codding
