  1. What if I made the card that is POSSIBLY dying be the card that does the calculations. Since it hasn't crashed I was debating on rebooting, and placing it in the second slot and seeing what happens. Going to LA in December, so now saving up for 2 new Asus ROG 1080's seems it might be out of the question for a bit.
  2. Since swapping out with the second card alone, it hasn't done it yet. Which totally sucks. I wonder if I can contact MSI for more information. I think the warranty is out. Crap that would suck, but it pushes me into just building the new computer.
  3. Well the monitors cut out black. Then the sound begins to... the best way is it almost sounds like the scene from The Matrix where the data goes down Neo's throat. Then the sound stops, or continues on where it is just noise. The keyboard/mouse stays lit, the rgb fan stays lit up as well. I checked the event log, and it doesn't list anything but the computer having an unexpected reboot. But when it happens, nothing is responsive. I've found that it has happened and it'll sit with a black screen for hours. That is when I first found the issue and couldn't figure out the problem.
  4. Well since swapping out the second GPU and using it in PCIE slot 1. I actually haven't had it crash yet. So now my concern is that if my main GPU caused the crash? Since the second did all the calculations because of crossfire. Does anyone know of crashes like these being caused by a bad GPU? I haven't seen anything on it yet.
  5. Thank you, cause that confused the piss out of me. How often you hear it, and how often I even have to say it in my job... But I really do think it is the PSU. So if the system crashes again while working tonight. I'll do some research on my laptop and order a new one.
  6. Burnt is most certainly bad. If the fans are spinning up, and you see nothing posting. You are sure the GPU works, did you try using just the MOBO output?
  7. Well I had to reset everything because I got a new case. The problem persists. It actually got more frequent since the case swap. So at 4:44am it crashed again. Which means my first GPU in both slots had the same results of crashing while in use. Testing my second GPU now in the first slot. If it crashes, I'm testing the second slow. After all of these tests thus far, it is starting to make me fully think it is the PSU is just bad as bomberblyat had stated. Also restarting my router? Thanks for the idea though! If this seriously is a problem. I've already budgeted out for some new parts, I may just get them from the 2 new gpu's and the psu. Just gotta figure out what to upgrade it to though.
  8. Alright, so since my last post running 1 of the 2 R9's. It ended up crashing about 16 minutes ago. I then moved the GPU, and placed it into the second PCIE slot to double check the slots are good. Will test some more. Also looking into getting an upgraded power supply. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking into getting the EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply. So I'll be getting (for safety) a few hundred extra watts in comparison to what I have, along with it being fully modular, AND it is a new PSU in general since that maybe the problem I'm currently having. I do plan to purchase and get new 2 new GPU's as well, so I want something that is powerful enough to support 2x Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG STRIX (in SLI). Which is crazy since their wattage is about ~180, and the current R9 is ~275, so if it is my PSU unable to power everything, or it is going bad maybe I won't need to buy the GPU's yet since their price is crazy at the moment. So here goes nothing! If anyone has suggestions on the PSU that would be awesome.
  9. How did you find out that it was your PSU that caused the crashes? I mean from my explanation it does sound the same, right?
  10. It doesn't seem to be getting any hotter, but that's why i got a new case. The Enthoo Pro sort of sealed in the heat, and I noticed my cards ran hotter than they should. Still no crashes thus far. Going to just play around a bit and keep an eye on things. Only running one GPU. Can't wait to just buy a new system. Part this out for what works and build a new pc for another part of the house.
  11. That's a really good point. I just ran Furmark, and the system hasn't crashed. It is in the first PCIE slot. I'll wait it out a bit to see if anything happens. If it does, I'll swap the slot, then run some tests and see if it is good.
  12. Alright, I removed one of the GPU's. And disconnected one of the monitors. I'm going to run Furmark on the main GPU that did the work, since it was crossfire. I'll follow up with my results soon. If it crashes in the process, I'll check the second GPU. Since the time of this original post and this current reply, it crashed 2 times.
  13. Do you think it is dying, or just not enough power?
  14. That is what I'm afraid is happening. I'll have to give it a shot. It is an absolute pain to take them out because of the locking clip. In order to remove the second one, you have to remove the first one. I'll give it a shot, and see if that changes anything.
  15. Also, for anyone who is able to help. Literally 2 minutes after submitting my post the machine did it again. I checked event log, and the only thing it captured was that I hard restarted the machine. I'm so glad I wasn't playing any games at this point.
