  1. The issues stretch a lot further than just the rng issues. Those are moreso the more recent ones that were the spark that ignited the powder keg, so to speak. Unfortunately though, I don't have the ability to properly explain each and every individual situation and give it it's full and due context. However for anyone curious there has been an update regarding the community's response here. As far as the "question" is concerned, again I apologize for not being clearer. Besides the fact that I'm going to spread some awareness of the situation at hand, my intent was to see how people on the outside felt about it. As a consumer/gamer/however you choose to perceive yourself, how do you feel about these events? What is your take on it, how do you feel you'd respond? Have you had any similar experiences, and anything you've done that might apply here to remedy the situation? Mark, personally I agree that these types of actions shouldn't be tolerated. My mind has already been made up about what I myself am going to do following the outcome of this boycott, regardless of if it's successful or not. However I do still believe that things can change and a positive outcome can be achieved, but it's going to take some serious work, hence the outreach. Thank you both for your opinions so far!
  2. The game initially launched in NA back in 2005/2006, and is still running today. I agree that it's not surprising that they pulled majority of support to quell the fire that happened in the Korean game region, but that doesn't justify the fact that they let things get this bad over here.
  3. I'll be upfront here and say that a part of my intentions for making this post is to spread awareness regarding major issues that myself and others are facing right now. I don't want to come across as just writing a spam post, I genuinely want to get an outside impression of the situation here. Currently the situation is that one of my childhood games, a long time standing and incredibly unique MMORPG Maplestory is in extreme shambles due to many major controversies caused by the developer and publisher Nexon. I'll try to be brief with my explanations of the situation as all of the reddit thread links will have a more detailed description of the events I'm talking about. During 2020 through Q1 2021 there was a major scandal in the game's home region of Korea (referred to as KMS, Korean MapleStory) where rng gear enhancement items, called cubes and flames, were not functioning as they should have and had their rng rates rigged against certain outcomes. This information was only found out after months of data mining and testing by players, at which point spurred a mass exodus of players to another popular game at the time, Lost Ark. This reflected in the stock price of Nexon tanking during Q1 2021 as KMS makes up a large majority of revenue for Nexon according to their released quarterly earnings report. This leads us to now. In response to this, Nexon reorganized their internal development teams and cut a large amount of support from other regional teams in favor of KMS to try and retain their playerbase in an emergency situation. This reflected after months due to increasing server stability issues that would be considered game breaking bugs by any other playerbase, constant server wide crashes and only a handful of playable channels that didn't have extremely high server sided delay, I can say from firsthand that despite only living in the US east coast and connecting to servers in California it felt like I was playing on a game server hosted in the Philippines with 200-300 ping. Whenever these issues happened, such as the daily server crashes the entire week of Black Friday this past holiday, it took days or sometimes weeks for these issues to even be acknowledged. Contrasted with KMS that has perfectly stable servers, and if they ever do have issues they are brought down and fixed within an hour, and a lengthy apology with ingame compensation is issued. Many Korean players have even shared their thoughts after trying to play on the global servers (NA). In response to these and many many other grievances that Global MapleStory (GMS) players are facing, the community has banded together and formed a boycott against Nexon until demands are met and things change. In all actuality the demands are reasonable and what would be considered standard for a game company in this day and age. A short list of these demands paraphrased from one of the reddit threads on the issues is a follows: Fixing and promptly addressing server instability Fully revealing the rates of RNG enhancement items, especially those purchasable with real money Content roadmap for upcoming patches, due to lack of promised communication and transparency on Nexon's part Promptly addressing and fixing game breaking bugs that appear almost every patch, some of which have been ingame for literal years Proper compensation for players affected by the Dutch anti-gambling laws and Nexon's poor response to it Immediate addressing and fixing of the Nexon America account theft exploits due to poor player security and account recovery policies in place for their customer support team Nexon has currently addressed some of the issues yet general player consensus regarding this is still lackluster. Claims from unnamed Nexon employees on two occasions, here and here, have added validity to the idea that Nexon America is simply a publisher and has very little of any say in some of these issues. This memo proves nothing as all previous claims for the past few years, even from senior employees, have proved to be just words. The community concensus will be that we will still continue to vote with our wallets and make all attempts to have our demands met by PR pressure as well. It is often said that those who complain the most do so because they love the game the most, and in this case I believe that to be true. Many of us grew up playing this game, a few years ago in a community event stream Nexon mentioned that the average age of a player's account is 7 years old. We love this game and hate seeing it in such a sorry state, and we know Nexon has the resources and capital to make these changes. We want this game to be better because we want it to succeed, and we know it can. That all being said, what are your guys thoughts on the situation? I want to know how you feel about this, whether you're someone who has never heard of the game before or a veteran like myself. If you made it this far I sincerely thank you for taking the time to listen to my abridged explanation of the current situation and if you at all are interested in learning more, please take a minute to read/watch the videos and reddit threads I linked to, they will go into much further detail than I ever could, and please help us spread awareness of these issues if you can. The only way change will happen at this point is if Nexon is pressured enough to do so.
  4. Hey everyone! So I got myself a pair of ATH M50X's a year and a half ago and have been in love with them ever since. Recently I've been looking into getting a nice pair of IEMs for my on the go purposes but haven't had much luck finding the right pair. Ideally I'd like to find something that: Has as close of a sound signature as I can get to the M50X's, but with a slightly more pronounced bass. Overear & Black for design would be nice. As far as budget goes, I'd like to keep it under $200. Pref. as cheap as I can go without sacrificing major amounts of quality. My main use case for these will be on the go with my phone, as well as a Sena 20S when riding. So the keen of you may have noticed I tagged this post with "motovlogging" and talked about a Sena 20S. This is where the plan for the portable AMP comes into play. My plan for this is to be able to use a 3.5mm splitter to be able to hear my audio coming from my 20S through the IEMs as well as record it and my mic through something like a GoPro Hero 4 (So I can be lazy and can skip a bit of post production). This is mainly due to the fact that software limitations disallow intercom between different headsets (Bluetooth 4.0 chaining) and phone audio to be recorded at the same time. This setup is a bit of an overkill workaround for a small niche problem, but it allows for greater flexibility with this type of content production. (provided a diagram below for ease of understanding)
  5. tl;dr LF new set of cans for my triennial update, Don't really care whether closed or open back, but leaning more towards closed. 7.1 surround is a very strong want, but not absolute must. Like the sound signature of my M50X's but would like something with a little bit more bass. Would Ideally like a minimalistic black design for them, but can work around that. Anyone know of a pair that meets most or all of these criteria? I've spent the past few hours searching with no real strong contenders. (If you want to be an absolute hero and try to match the headset to the rest of my build, go ahead.)
  6. Yeah just ran through that thread a minute ago out of curiosity. Eventually I'm going to try and see if I can't use IFTTT and an IR blaster somehow to control different devices. All trial and error, though.
  7. Just as a quick thought since I'll be integrating this soon™. Has anyone ever thought to try and macgyver an AVR connected to Alexa for a hands free experience?
  8. Ah, I see. I think I'll hold out for an AVR then. I'm tight on money right now, but I won't be for long. I'm mostly a novice when it comes to home AV. (totally not glancing at my little $5 DAC and an aux cord running into my PC from my TV for an AIO audio solution)
  9. Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. For now I'll try and see if I can't keep an eye out for something with a bit of a smaller form factor. For instance, couldn't something like this be a cheaper alternative? (though with obviously a lot less functionality)
  10. As the title suggests, I am looking for a 4k 60Hz capable HDMI Switch. It's not a complete necessity at the moment, but let's just call it future proofing. I've been browsing around trying to find a decent HDMI Switch to use in my next media center upgrade. I currently have my Gaming/Work PC connected up to a 3 monitor/1 TV setup (so pretty much an array of 4 outputs in an Upside-down T formation, with the current 45' 1080p) Anyways, that kinda irrelevant so I'll get to the point. My current TV only has 2 HDMI inputs, and I currently have a PS4 Pro on the way (Super excited for all the new releases this year) and figured it'd be a good time to take care of this. I plan to be using these devices with it. -PS4 Pro -Output from my PC -An Amazon FireTV -Pref. at least one extra open slot, but can live with only 3. Do any of you know of/use an HDMI Switch that has confirmed specifications I laid out? I mean I don't technically need the full functionality right now, but in the future I plan on getting a 4k TV so taking care of this now would be ideal. Tl;Dr I have been browsing around but I've had mixed reviews of some products and want to take the opportunity to see what you all think. Needs at least 3 HDMI inputs, and be 4k@60Hz capable.
  11. Grabbing one from the store around here isn't really much of an option. The closest place that carries anything around here is a Microcenter roughly 15 miles (~24km) away. Luckily a friend that lives close by had a stock intel cooler that I could use in the mean time. As for interference with RAM, I have some pretty low profile sticks for now so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
  12. Usually ran at base clock speed because my previous case didn't have enough space for proper airflow to push it anywhere.
  13. I'm only going to be pushing it at max to 4.4GHz
  14. Hey everyone! Somewhat intermediate builder here and yesterday I had a bit of an issue. After I finished swapping my current build over to my new Mastercase Pro 5 my Silverstone TD02-Lite started making terrible grinding noises and died on me right at the end. Unfortunately, I don't have my receipt so I can't RMA it. Needless to say I'm in the market for a new cooler now. I don't really care much about AIO or Air cooling as either looks fine to me, but my main real criteria are efficiency and low dbA. One of my friends suggested getting a Hyper 212 EVO and I've been looking at some of the more popular AIOs recently for argument's sake (Examples in the thread title). My budget right now I'd say would be about $120 USD max as I will need some money for quick shipping as I am pretty much out of a rig that I need up ASAP. As for my build's specs, they are as follows: -i7 4790K -MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition -MSI Geforce GTX 980Ti -EVGA SuperNova 1000 G2 1,000W 80+ Gold
