1. Budget & Location
Budget: $1800 - Location: California, United States
2. Aim
I'm heading into college majoring in Graphic Design and so I want something to be able to handle daily work with some gaming on the side. I work with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and plan to game with some of the newer titles (BF4, CS:GO, Assassins Creed..etc) I'm also aiming for a reliable, cool, and quiet PC.
3. Monitors
I currently have one 1080p monitor and I plan to be purchasing another one in the next few years.
4. Peripherals
I'm setup with all my peripherals.
5. Why are you upgrading?
I have a very mid-range laptop that overheats like crazy and it can barely run the games I play at 20 fps and is starting to become under-powered when it comes to working with large files in Photoshop. I am currently using an Acer 5750G (i7 2630QM + 8GB 1333hz + Nvidia 540m + 120 kingston ssdnow v300)
I'm not new to all the tech stuff, just new to physically building a computer, but it never hurts to ask for second opinions on my selected parts.
