  1. I might have found the issue. I found this QVL list for my mother board, and the ram I got says it's only compatible in DIMM slots 1 and 2 https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_b450m-ds3h_pinnacle.pdf CMK16GX4M2A2400C16 is the model number.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion, but I’m still a little confused as to what is causing my original issue of the fans spinning up but the PC not turning on though. When I first noticed the issue, I only had 2400mhz ram installed and wasn’t getting any blue screens.
  3. This is actually really helpful, I didn’t realize my cpu doesn’t support memory this fast. Given that information, do you think the fan spinning/have to press the reset button issue I’ve been having is probably separate from the BSODs then? When I had the 4 sticks of 8gb installed, it never blue screened. The only issue was not booting.
  4. Could you tell me how to do this, or is there a guide you recommend? I know it's a thing but I've never actually had to do it before. I'm also just scared to brick something at this point, so I'm hesitant to try anything without fully knowing what I'm doing.
  5. I apologize if this post gets a bit wordy, but I'm beginning to freak out a little that my system is somehow borked. I also apologize if this isn't allowed, but I've already summarized my issue in this reddit post, but I would like to get some second opinions: Specs are: Ryzen 5 2600 3060ti b450 ds3h motherboard 2x8gb 2400 (original ram) added two more identical sticks for 4x8gb 2400 (where I *think* the issues started, no blue screens) swapped all of it out for 2x16gb 3600 (blue screens started, XMP enabled and disabled) all of this is Corsair Vengance 500W 80 plus bronze evga power supply 1tb nvme ssd with windows 10 I will also try to tl;dr what has happened after this initial description: I upgraded to windows 11 a bit ago, didn't like it, reverted back to 10 ran memtest86 for about 5 hours, it got through 2 full passes with no errors I went to best buy and got 2 sticks of 16gb at 3600mhz (faster than my old stuff) to just try and start fresh with and without xmp enabled, this resulted in 3 or 4 BSOD I'm not sure how to analyze them, but the .dmp files can be found here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/ncuvoeulxy5jk/BSOD_Help at some point during this process I disabled fTPM since I had to enable it when I installed win 11 At the moment, I put my old 2x8gb memory back in and at the very least it's not blue screening haven't tested restarting yet to see if the initial issue persists. Is there anything else I should go about trying? Maybe a driver update or something? Thanks ahead of time for any help. Edit: one of the comments below brought to my attention that my cpu does not support ram speeds above about 2900MHz. At this point I’m guessing that was the cause of the blue screens, but I’m still not sure why it won’t start up correctly. Edit 2: I think I found the issue and fixed it. Long story short, I didn't know there were so many different compatibility requirements. First of all, the blue screens I was getting were being caused by my memory speed. I didn't realize my CPU has a max supported memory speed of 2933MHz, so 3600 was a big no no. To solve this, I went into my bios, and set the system memory multiplier down to 2933MHz, ran a stress test (I'll link it below), and all was good For the original issue, where my PC wouldn't start without pressing the reset button, just the fans would spin, it was due to the other memory installed not being compatible with my motherboard in the slots I installed them. Essentially, I learned that there is this QVL list for each motherboard, and it essentially just lists a bunch of ram that they guarantee to work, at what speeds, and in which slots. Before upgrading, I had a kit of 2x8gb corsair vengeance 2400MHz ram installed in slots 1 and 2. When I upgraded, I purchased an identical kit, thinking it would be compatible. As it turns out, that specific kit is only supported in slots 1 and 2, not 3 and 4 where I had to install the second kit. So, while windows showed that I had 32gb installed, and I wasn't crashing or anything, I believe it was still causing the abnormal startup behavior. To back this up, as soon as I removed the second kit and went back to my original config, the PC booted as expected. Currently then, I have the corsair vengeance 2x16gb 3600MHz kit installed, just running at a lower, supported, speed. This kit isn't technically in the QVL List I mentioned, but an identical kit that comes at a lower rated speed is. So far I haven't had any crashed or odd startup behavior. 6. Basically the title. I recently got an amazon echo dot, and I routed it’s audio through a second discord account so that I could give it commands and then everyone could hear it. This got me thinking though, is there a way that others in the channel could give alexa commands? (Just to note this is a private server with people I personally know). I’ve done my best to google how to accomplish this but I can’t find anything very useful. My first thought was that since the 3.5mm jack on the device can be used as a line in, maybeI could issue commands through that. I don’t have a spare aux cable atm so I wasn’t able to test that, plus I would need some sort of splitter anyway so that we could still hear it. Then, after some more googling, I found a video where someone did exactly what I’m trying to do. However, the video is more a showcase rather than a tutorial, and it utilizes a Pine64 board which I have no experience with. The other thought I had was maybe it would be possible to achieve this through an alexa skill/ discord bot of some kind, but I have very little programming experience so that’s sort of a dead end for me at least. Any ideas on how to accomplish this would be appreciated.
  7. My laptop has a combo jack for a headset and I'd like to use it as a line in so I can hear audio from my Nintendo Switch. Seeing as this can be used for a mic, I assumed I could just plug an aux cord into my Switch, and then into the combo port, but that doesn't seem to work. Do I need an adapter for this, or is there just some setting that I'm missing?
  8. @Windows7ge SO I figured it out and I literally had to change one number in and ip address... kmn
  9. @Windows7ge So how would I log into it, or is that the part you’re not sure on?
  10. I’ll look into that tomorrow but I gotta go get some sleep for now. I found this while looking around though, so can I even access my modem? https://community.eero.com/t/36lx7y/does-a-cable-modem-without-wifi-need-to-be-set-to-bridge-mode
  11. Where would I go to enable bridged mode? (Modem is an Arris TM 1602 if that helps)
  12. My router and modem are separate. The modem is just a "dumb" cable company modem and the router is a Linksys EA9200. I also just checked the port checker thing and it says that the port is not open. Edit: How would I check for the WAN thing?
  13. Yup, I gave my friends the current IP and I checked it before every time they tested to make sure it didn't change.
  14. I'm assuming the latter? I've checked the portforward in my router like a dozen times and everything's correct, and from what I can tell I can't access my modem in any way.
