Anjelllo reacted to Falcon1986 in Usb 3 data/power splitter?
Check to make sure the dock doesn't have it's own power connector. Some take the laptop's USB-C charger.
If it doesn't, what kind of monitor outputs do you need? Here's an adapter rated for 100W but it only has one HDMI and one VGA for display outputs.

Anjelllo got a reaction from HenrikTJ in What is the point/allure of having funko pop figures in builds?
Imo they’re quite tacky, but I can see why someone would want them to put personal style into their build. They all have the same art style however you can get characters from totally different content.

You’re legit just spouting buzzwords. Like a SV startup with a terrible product trying to bs it’s way into VC money.

No, there isn't. It's all a load of bullshit and hot air.

I’m with WFH policies. Companies can get more qualified candidates that exist outside their region (the bay area), and those employees have a chance at better jobs without having to uproot their lives.

Anjelllo reacted to jasonvp in Microsoft CEO warns remote work could have serious consequences
Preface: I'm fortunate enough to work for a company that allows me to WFH 100% of the time. And by that, I mean, literally, 100% of the time. I went into the local office exactly once: my first day, to collect my laptop and badge. I haven't been back and haven't needed to. My team is scattered all over the country: the manager in PA, one guy in NC, another near Las Vegas, and two or three of them in Texas somewhere. It works. And works well.
When the big tech companies started proudly announcing that their employees could WFH during this pandemic, I made a note to a buddy who works at one of them (Google). I said back in Feb, "I'll bet that after all this is done, the bigger and smarter tech companies are going to re-examine their office policies. I suspect they're going to see that most of the geeks they have on staff are more productive (and happier!) at home than they are commuting to/from an office every day. And as a consequence, these companies are going to re-think their positions in the real estate business."
A week or two ago, GOOG and FB announced (I'm simplifying), "WFH until 2021!" Then Twitter said, for those that can, "WFH permanently." I'm going to stick with my initial statement; by the end of this year, both GOOG and FB will re-examine everything and will likely extend the WFH policy to be vastly more liberal than it's been prior. Which then allows them to seriously down-size their office holdings, which will save them immense amounts of money in insurance, taxes, and other real estate-related OpEx.
Basically, I'm betting the large "Internet campuses" that these companies have are going to slowly shrink in size.

Yes, humans are social creatures. Why should that interaction be expected to occur at work though?
-
Anjelllo reacted to Doobeedoo in Microsoft CEO warns remote work could have serious consequences
Working from home is the best thing ever, can't see why anyone would want to go to a working place over home if offerd that option.
Just in earlier starts of human malware and staying at home people after 10 days started to lose their minds like wtf though. Didn't change anything for me.

Anjelllo reacted to HarryNyquist in Microsoft CEO warns remote work could have serious consequences
The problem here is the middle/upper management/executives wanting to see people around and hold meetings so they feel vital.

Anjelllo reacted to Sauron in Microsoft CEO warns remote work could have serious consequences
Plenty of people work exclusively from home and they're fine. As long as you have another source of social interaction it's not a problem.

As much as a positive and constructive discussion about this could possibly take place, this is a Tech Forum and not a pharma forum and this particular subject could result in some inflammatory and political derailing that just wont be fitting with this forums CS.

Anjelllo reacted to WereCatf in Dear LTT, please stop hating Apple
Subjective. You trying to claim it being the best tablet in the world as a fact is wrong.
I disagree. Most of the time, various devices' shortcomings and issues are far more important than what they do well and as such it is generally a good thing to pay more attention to the shortcomings and issues. Also, in general, I find LTT's videos on Apple's devices to be perfectly fair.

Folding@home is a network of volunteer computers distributed around the world that aims to perform biomedical research with the single intent of helping to further understand and develop cures for a range of diseases such as; Alzheimer's, cancer, and Parkinson's. The exact research that is done is simulating the 'folding' of proteins in the body, this is important because the function of a protein id directly related to its physical shape. And this, when the protein is created in the body it needs to reshuffle its shape to get into the correct structure to perform its task. Many illnesses can be linked to faulty proteins in the body such as many cancers and neurological issues, along with a wide number of other general health concerns. This network if compared with the TOP500 list of supercomputers would fall into 2nd, Folding@home is one of the world's fastest computing systems, with a speed of approximately 98.7petaFLOPS. It would be 50% faster than the fastest x86 computer currently listed on the top500.
COVID-19
But this is not why we are here, we are here to join the legion of other folders from around the globe who have taken up the fight against COVID-19.
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common across the world. These viruses can cause mild symptoms ranging from a fever and cough to more serious conditions such as severe pneumonia, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
In December 2019, a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) was first identified in Wuhan City, China. This virus has now spread to other countries. The UK Chief Medical Officers have declared the risk to the public to be moderate. But the risk to individuals remains low.
PASSKEYS! (they're really important)
Don't forget to get yourself a passkey from the link below to ensure that you hit the points requirement, the passkey is a feature that was added a while ago to the Folding Client that helps to authenticate each user on the network, an added bonus of this is the fact that it allows you to qualify for QRB(Quick Return Bonus) Points, QRBs are extra points you earn for submitting work units more quickly, such as if you have faster hardware or let the client fold full time, rather than on idle. QRB credit is awarded after 10 WUs have been submitted. You can get your passkey from the link below.
https://apps.foldingathome.org/getpasskey
This is just a PSA for the new guys here, the folding team is a small close knit community, so here's a few things I'd like you all to keep in mind. It doesn't hurt to say thank you, if someone has genuinely helped you out don't forget to drop a reaction on their posts, help others where ever you can and finally we are a team first and always.
Check your stats out here! Bare in mind it can take some time for your first WUs to appear so leave it a day or two.

Please follow the guides below to help with set-up and troubleshooting. These are mostly older guides but are still quite useful for most things, we are working on an improved guide and are hoping to have it ready for prime time withing the next month but in meantime these will have to do. Big Thanks to @Metallus97 for giving me a hand with the FAQ for the event and taking some of the load from me.
Read the Event blog to keep up to date With any announcements!!!
