  1. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll give them both a try
  2. I am looking for a good free software to use to monitor my HDD and/or SSD. things like temps, speeds, read/writes left, etc. I would prefer a all-in-one software, but I would be ok with downloading two separate softwares. Thanks
  3. Ok, I might, but I do like this cpu and mobo, they preform how I need them too. Thanks for the help.
  4. is there any way I might distinguish a bluescreen from the rest of the errors in the event viewer? it appears to be an endless sea of errors.
  5. yeah, my cooler is trash, I realize that now, and once I get a new case I'm going to but a 240mm aio liquid cooler, but I'm worried about the little freezes and studders I'm getting at cool temperatures ever since last night.
  6. my pc is dust free, as I said it's only about 20 days old, and I keep it clean
  7. that software and msi afterburner both agree that my cpu is idling at around 6c which is false because my room is significantly warmer than 6c, and under load in cinebench it was climbing steadily but peaked at 67c, and again, I didn't record the error code.
  8. I haven't bluescreened since last night and did not record the error code, but when I went to the windows support page link, it said it could be hardware overheating, also when I restarted and went into the BIOS it said my cpu was at around 65c, so i'm fairly certian it overheated. as for overclocking it, I haven't overclocked the cpu before, and when I underclocked it, it didn't give much of a drop in temperature so I've set it back to normal.I may try resettin gthe bios soon though.
  9. ok, so I just recently built my first pc, roughly 20 days ago, and for the most part, It's been great. but recently, I was playing rust, and I blue screened. I realized after looking up the error that this was probably my cpu overheating. I figured that I would let it cool down, and then I underclocked it to keep it from overheating. since then (last night) I've been getting frequent freezes at odd times. not when I'm running the cinabench stress test, but when I'm running groove music, or sitting at my desktop. I fear that I damaged my cpu by running it too hot, when I bluescreened, it was at 83c. I do have a two year replacement plan on the chip from microcenter, but I was hoping that somebody could diagnose the problem for me. did I fry the cpu, or is it something else, please help me out. my system specs are on my profile page.
  10. Thanks for the replies, They really helped! I think I'm going to have to go with the fractal case for the sheer amount of rad space. Thanks again.
  11. I will definitely consider that, thanks
  12. OK, so when I was picking parts for my first build I was foolish (as I was still learning about hardware) and picked the coolest looking case I could buy for as little money as possible, and I chose the Raidmax Ninja II. in hindsight, this was a mistake. the case comes stock with two (admittedly high quality) fans, an intake in the front and an exhaust in the back. the case boasts space for two 120mm fans in the front, however this vent is inaccessible from either side so it is impossible to get a second fan in there. this brings me to the problem at hand. both my cpu and graphics card are overheating in mild use (i.e. CS:GO), but I have neither the rad space for any water cooling kits, or the available vents for extra case fans. So I need a new case, but I'm a little tight on cash, so I was wondering if anybody could point me towards a cheap ($50-90ish) ATX case with space for at least 5 120mm fans. the more vent space and the bigger, the better. I don't need anything flashy, and I honestly wouldn't mind having to do some DIY work either. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance. also, sorry for the long explanation, I figured more info was better than less.
  13. I'd stick with the amazon order, I find that they usually arrive sooner rather than later, but if it is of the utmost importance that it arrives before the 20'th cancel the order and buy a digital copy
  14. so I've been looking to install a 360 emulator on my new rig so I can play halo 3 and Reach on my pc, and I haven't been able to find one. I browsed both this forum and tom's hardware for anything relating to this, but all of the posts were from around at least a year ago, and I'm wondering about right now, so, does anybody know of a fully operational emulator out yet? On a side note, I've only just recently started looking into emulation so if my question doesn't make sense, please correct me. also anything additional you could tell me about how emulation works would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
