Ginger_ got a reaction from Calling John in Playstation 4 Pro vs Ryzen PC
At 720p 60 they're both overkill. Build a PC because you can use it for more than gaming though

Ginger_ reacted to dalekphalm in Dell modular PC: Optiplex 7070 Ultra
Part of the reason you're paying $800 for that is two fold:
1. Form factor - you pay more for slimmer, or "aesthetically pleasing" components. This is sometimes (but not always) a high priority for some businesses.
2. Support - this is where most of the money actually goes. Dell business machines typically have 3 year warranties - and their business warranty is hard to beat. One place to call for any issues (rather than calling 7 different vendors for the various bits inside the PC). And on top of that, if you pay a bit more, you get on-site next day service.
Downtime is one of the most expensive things to a business.

These would be CPU lanes, not chipset lanes. So it'll be something like only the nearest x16 slot running gen 4 as well as the m.2 slot connected to the CPU. Everything else would be gen 3 including the chipset.
That is if this is accurate at all.

Ginger_ reacted to seon123 in MSI Mocks Apple w/ New Prestige 5K Monitor (stand included!)
They're not comparing their monitor to Apple's monitor. They're comparing their monitor against the Apple monitor's stand. If the choice is between an okay monitor or a monitor stand, the choice is obvious. ?
While Apple's monitor is supposed to be comparable to a much more expensive reference monitor, it's probably best to wait for independent reviews to verify how good it actually is.

oh, so this is just games that are free on steam. not games that cost money and are now free or free for a limited time? and one you posted is just a demo that is free. not the full game LOL
I don't see the point is telling us about some games that are just asset flips that are listed for free on steam. Unless your just doing it for "clout" to be known as that one guy who shows us free games.

The logic of people nowadays: Why would you fix your own sh*t when you can play the victim card and demand others to fix it for you
Also, do not immediately believe any accusations of this sort, you need to prove someone to be guilty to be able to say that they actually are guilty. A great example of this was the fairly recent Brett Kavanaugh controversy in the US.

Ginger_ reacted to Dash Lambda in MSI will support ZEN2 on 300 series motherboards, models to come in the future
Other people in the existing discussion probably know more than me (I haven't been following the most recent motherboards much), but that seems really far-fetched. When I was buying Ryzen 1, MSI was the bottom of the roost; Worst VRMs, no real stand-out features, and memory support issues that lasted too long after everyone else got their shit together.
Nothing against MSI, I assume they've gotten quite a lot better about Ryzen since that rough start, but... I really have no idea what group you're speaking for.

wut.
Sure, MSI has pretty much best B450 boards for Ryzen, but their B350 were nothing special, X370 were pretty average (borderline bad), X470 boards don't stand out of the bunch either

Ginger_ reacted to DrMacintosh in Researcher demos new macOS Keychain exploit, holds data from Apple
A security researcher has revealed a new exploit in Keychain.app (a password and credential managment software introduced in macOS 9) but is opting to keep the details of this exploit hidden from Apple.
The bad news is that macOS has a security exploit, the good news is that it only effects local passwords. This means that all but those who chose to manually disable iCloud (something you should never do for a multitude of reasons), are not affected by this supposed threat. I say "supposed threat" because there is no demoed replicability and there was no demo of the application getting any new passwords, leaving the possibility of this being fake.
This exploit has not been deployed as far as I know.
The analyst claims to be withholding details of the exploit from Apple, citing that the Bug Bounty Program does not include macOS exploits (which in my opinion it should).
When Apple developed iCloud in iOS 5, they included Keychain functionality. Since iOS 5, users of the Apple ecosystem have not needed a password manager and as iOS continued to mature, its auto-fill features made iCloud Keychain more and more convenient. This means that the vast majority of users only have password data stored in iCloud and their information is perfectly safe.

Storing anything online is a security vulnerability.
It's easier to stop an attack on your local machine than it is on someone else's, especially when you can only store files on their machine.
