  1. For the sake of posterity, i just tried the tool on my Legion 5 17.3" 17ACH6H, BIOS version: GKCN57WW, and it didn't work. Edt: But it worked for this guy, so idk. > https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/tool-lenovo-h20-bios-unlocker-and-locker/38150/117
  2. The monitor is only for editing. The photos are only ever printed, and since the sharpness of the images i edit will be limited by the glass i used, i think 1440p is a good trade off for a lower price.
  3. I only play games casually, so i'm not looking to get the upper hand over my enemies with this monitor. Its primary use will be photo editing. Budget: £650 / $850 / 750 euros (Willing to buy used) Absolute Requirements: 1440p in either 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio (not 4k) 60Hz (no higher) 100% (or 99%) Adobe RGB and sRGB IPS or VA Manufacturer colour calibrated dE no more than 2 Display brightness more than 250 nits Bonuses: Reasonably low input latency for gaming Pixel response times, the stand, anything else, doesn't matter. I know i'm probably having to rely on someone in the same situation as me for a good recommendation.
  4. I have a feeling this is a power problem. When i'm playing games my entire computer locks up, usually for about 3-5 seconds, then unfreezes like nothing happened. is my computer hitting the limit of my power supply? System temps are normal. Key Specs: GTX 1070 (+225MHz Core, +350Mhz Memory) i5 7600k @5Ghz 1.28V SSD + HDD 450W Corsair SFX PSU Thanks
  5. But at 1440p? Even at 1080p, this cpu should bottle neck a 1070...just saying its quite strange, and maybe people who are thinking about there "dream SC PC" should think twice about their CPU.
  6. Specs: GTX 1070 (+235MHz CORE, +350MHz MEM), i5 7600K @5.1GHz (~70'C), 16Gb DDR4 2666MHz, Z170i Pro Gaming Motherboard, Sandisk Ultra II SSD. Played at 1440p, very High settings.

  10. Hi, i need a GTX 1080 or 1080ti which including a water block is no wider than 150mm (5.9 Inches). Anyone know of any? I'm talking about this length btw... My theory is that a longer card might be shorter in width... Thanks
  11. Wait till new cards come out > buy GTX 1070 at a lower price!
  12. Although it is correct, that the monitor will only use 1 frame rendered by the game 144 times per second at its fastest (144Hz), the time the monitor has to wait for the rendered frame can make a large difference in input latency because the rendered frame isn't always made just before the monitor is ready to refresh, hence the monitor has to wait, which creates latency. i.e If your getting 60fps, on a 60Hz monitor, you will feel much higher latency compared to having > 300fps on a 60Hz monitor. (5 times more frames to chose from, thus more likely to be rendered close to the displayed frame) Or >60fps on a 120Hz monitor (Increases the likely hood of a frame being rendered in time for it to be displayed). Both do the same thing, but since monitors only really go up to 144Hz without breaking the bank, your better off getting a better GPU, displaying a lot more frames, and decreasing the frame latency more. I guess its all about frame latency to cost ratio for best value, providing you have more fps than the refresh rate of the monitor. Or just get a monitor with G-Sync which makes sure the monitor's refresh rate is adapting as fast as possible to the fps, although even that doesn't always work perfectly (when fps is below the refresh rate), since it can never be right on the money, since fps is constantly changing usually.
  13. Hi, has anyone used this gpu water block before? >> http://www.hwconfig.com/waterblock-finder The "Alphacool NexXxoS GPX - Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 M04" It's used for the Gigabyte GTX 1070 MINI OC 8Gb. And i think also the Zotac 1070 mini? If so was it worth it, how many radiators did you use, and how much of a decrease in temps? Thanks
  14. I built my PC a few months ago. I've had no problems with it at all. All of a sudden every time I boot I get a BSOD with the error code Kernal_Security_Check_Failure. I've looked around the internet and I've seen that some people have this problem with new ram. What I've found out is that my computer boots fine, and works fine with 1 stick of (4Gb HyperX DDR4 2133MHz) RAM, but whenever i have two sticks of this ram in any configuration i get the same BSOD. I've also had the odd "memory_Management" BSOD. So I seem to know the issue, any one have any ideas what i could do other than a RMA for the RAM? Like I said its only a few months old. (This has also been posted in the Software > Windows sub-forum)

  16. I might have to same problem as you, i just changed from an Asus H110i-plus budget motherboard to the Asus Z170i pro Gaming motherboard, but my PC crashes about a minute or 2 after booting up. But it never does this in the bios. I've reinstalled windows, no luck, did you have this problem?
  17. Ik its a bit of an old post, but did you ever have any problems with installing your Z170i motherboard? Any freezing or crashing after only changing the motherboard? Just curious to see if anyone els has my problem :(
  18. Well it was on bids, and there was such low demand, I was the only one so got it for £80, it was on amazon new for £136ish
  19. Oh, no installed it onto the ssd, from a USB boot drive I bought straight into this newly built pc. Never changed anything since
  20. Il guess no, I just held shift and pressed restart, went to advanced options and did a fresh install. Plz I'm big noob to the software side of things....
  21. What do mean by move? It froze, nothing seemed to of changed...
  22. Bought a used motherboard off ebay. Yes used the guy said nothing is wrong with it. Before I message him I wanted to know if there's anything I can do to fix this problem: When I boot into bios, everything is fine. Boot into windows 10 and it works perfectly fine for about a minute or 2 then freezes. The only way out is to pull the plug. I've gone from a Asus H110I-Plus to a Asus Z170I-PRO-GAMING Mobo. Any ideas? Specs: i5 6500 450W PSU SanDisk Ultra ssd Seagate 2.5inch barracuda hard drive GTX 970 (The problem persists with or without it) I've attempted to reset Windows, reinstall but keep my files, but it froze at 19%. The last thing is that my old mobo had a single 4pin atx power connector, this new mobo has a 2next to each other - but only one of the two ends of the designate power cables fit. So that's one other anomaly. Any help appreciated. Edit: At times it would take a few minutes before it froze, so i managed to reinstall windows - this didn't fix anything. So every time i turn on my PC, logged in, i'd attempt to download driver booster (which i had before), racing against time to get it done. Then one by one, i updated any outdated drives which included ethernet, display, and sound drivers. Updated them all. Sadly the issue still persisted. I reset the bios to default. Turned it on a few times. But no luck. I then looked at the compatible RAM and QVL (Qualified Vendors List) for the motherboard, and the lowest frequency RAM stated was 2133MHz. I had 2133MHz RAM, but that's advertised speeds. So what if because XMP was turned off, everything was set to auto, it made the RAM incompatible. That's why it froze after a minute? Because it took that long for the RAM to get piled up data, then crash?
  23. I have a custom fan curve, i made it for silent running at idle. Its been like that and fine for some time, but now this happens...
